Big Creek RV Park in Annapolis offers full hookups with 50-amp service, level gravel sites, and big-rig friendly access. Just north of Bonne Terre, Patt's Place features both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical hookups across its four spacious RV sites with sewer connections. Saline Creek RV Park and Campground, located within 30 miles, maintains five highly-rated sites with full hookup capabilities including 30/50-amp service. Concrete pads are available at some locations, while others utilize gravel surfaces for RV parking. "The sites have a bit of breathing room between them. There were tent campers on up to a 40 foot toy hauler," notes one reviewer about camping in the region.

Most RV parks in the area remain open year-round, though some amenities may be limited during winter months. Dump stations are available at Patt's Place and RV Self-Park in Sullivan, while Big Creek RV Park lacks this facility despite offering sewer hookups. Cell service varies significantly throughout the region, with stronger signals typically found at parks closer to highways. Pet-friendly policies are standard across all RV campgrounds near Bonne Terre, with designated areas for walking dogs. Propane service is limited, so travelers should plan accordingly. For RVers seeking proximity to St. Louis attractions, Cahokia RV Parque provides full hookup sites approximately an hour north with good highway access. One traveler mentioned, "The sites are basically just spots in a big parking lot layout. It is fully paved, but during busy season, you would be very close to other rigs."

    Silver Mines

    Nice and affordable

This is a nice little campground located in the Mark Twain National Forest. The St. Francis River runs behind the camp loop and the boat launch is walking distance, with room to splash around and fish. We were in site 8. The sites have a bit of breathing room between them. There were tent campers on up to a 40 foot toy hauler. The vault toilets were a bit sketchy and, while there's access to drinking water and some 30 amp sites, there's no dump station.

    Nice spot for quick stop

This is a small RV park just off I-44 about 20 minutes from Meramec Caverns. It’s very close to the highway so there is lots of highway noise. Some sites are farther away so not so bad. There is easy access from I-44.

30 & 50-Amp Electrical, Water & Sewer Hook-ups. Concrete pads. Bathroom/showers are clean. Pet friendly, coin laundry. Some pull thru sites. Adjacent to the Great American Flea Market on weekends if you like that stuff.

    Meramec State Park Campground

    Mera-culously huge

Huge park with tons of amenities and options. Although there is year round Camping, the host on site advised water to each individual site will be turned off end of October for winter. Potable water is available near dump stations (hmmm....). Very well kept, and vacant this time of year, affords the opportunity for a more private camping and river experience. Clean well kept shower houses. Lodge & cabin rentals also available. Boat ramp in back of campground. Campsites with blue bands and parking stops are ADA compliant with concrete pads, elevated grills plus fire ring and picnic table.

    Onondaga Cave State Park Campground

    Clean and quiet park

We stayed one night on our way through Missouri. It’s only about ten minutes south of I-44. The campground was only about half full, so it was nice and quiet. All sites have a concrete pad for the RV and for the picnic table. Includes water and electric. Playground, laundry room, and dump station. Hiking trails available from the campground and cave tours on weekends. We stayed at site #65 which is close to the entrance/restrooms and has no campsite on either side.

    Cahokia RV Parque

    Great Campground!

We had a great experience in the 4 nights we spent here. The grounds, pool, laundry, and bathrooms were all in excellent repair and clean. The park was quiet, but very family friendly. The spots are roomy enough, given that you’re situated less than 15 miles from downtown St. Louis. The picnic tables and fire rings are nice additions and the lots appear to be level (ours was.) We didn’t have any trouble backing our 38 ft travel trailer in either. Do NOT miss the BBQ place in the parking lot... fantastic food and a 10% discount for park customers.

Nice close park to St. Louis

Pet-friendly, full hookups, space for our larger rig and parking around for extra vehicle. Laundry and propane on site. Spaces were a little close together, but minutes from downtown St. Louis, and staff was friendly and accommodating. Also, fantastic restaurant right on site -- Sawmill BBQ!

    Meramec Caverns Natural Campground

Great Place to camp and enjoy!

This was our first trip in our camper and a first camp at Meramec Caverns.

The staff is friendly and helpful. Security patrols around the clock and doesn't put up with any ridiculousness.

Campsites available on pavement, gravel for campers and RVs and grass for tents. Our site had 30/50 amp service and water on a gravel site facing the Meramec River. It waa a beautiful view!

Shower house and restroom facilities are clean and maintained.

A dump station is located just outsIde the main gate of the campgrounds.

Because of the location, there is no wifi and we had no cell service for the majority of our stay. Once in a while it would get a signal but it was very brief.

Campsites are separated from the Meramec Caverns tourist attractions so there is not constant traffic coming through the campsite.

Most campsites had a stone fire ring, bbq grill, and picnic table.

The cave tour, zipline, boat ride, canoe and float trips and motel are all within short walking distance from the campgrounds.

The campground store has ice, firewood and basics available. The gift shop at the cave has typical tourist items available. The restaurant is more of a snack bar and not a full service restaurant, so don't rely on it for your meals during your stay!

The cave tour is interesting and informative and on a hot day the 60 degree temp of the cave is the perfect place to hang out for a while!

Overall, a very nice place to camp and enjoy the outdoors without being too far from home.

We will definitely be back for another stay!

Guide to Bonne Terre

RV campsites near Bonne Terre, Missouri offer diverse experiences within a region characterized by rolling hills, former mining sites, and nearby river access. Located in Missouri's Lead Belt, campsites typically sit at elevations between 700-900 feet above sea level. Summer temperatures average 85-90°F with moderate humidity, while winter camping often sees temperatures in the 30-45°F range.

What to do

Fishing at nearby creeks: Big Creek RV Park features creek access where campers can enjoy casual fishing. "The creek is nice for cooling down on a hot day, but there is a pool if you'd rather do that," notes reviewer Mike T., who also mentions the "Saturday fun with different campground activities and an evening hayride."

Visit historical sites: Within 30 minutes of most Bonne Terre camping areas, visitors can explore the region's mining heritage. Patt's Place provides a convenient base for these excursions, with one camper mentioning, "Owners met us at the entrance and guided us in which was much appreciated. They were extremely nice and helped us get set up."

Swim in natural waters: Several campgrounds maintain swimming areas during summer months. At Indian Springs Resort, "There's a large sandy beach with natural swimming holes, plus a seasonal pool," according to Taryn S., who adds that the resort offers "both boat rentals and shuttle services" for float trips on the Meramec River.

What campers like

Spacious sites: Unlike the packed RV parks mentioned in the existing description, some camping areas offer more room. "The sites are level, and there is plenty of shade," reports Joel R. about Pin Oak RV Park, though he notes "everything is just a little run down" and "the sites are gravel and close together."

Family programming: Campgrounds in the region often organize activities for families. "They really do pack in the campers though, extremely crowded and tight. The family atmosphere was incredible here, lots for the kiddos to do in this park," says Russ G. about Pin Oak RV Park's Halloween celebrations.

Quick highway access: For travelers passing through, convenient locations make overnight stays simple. "You can reserve a site online or just do it when you get there as I did," explains Russell K. about RV Self-Park, adding "You can get in and out really quick."

What you should know

Highway noise: Many campgrounds in the area experience road noise due to proximity to major highways. "If you love the sound of freeways this is the place for you," warns Emily S. about RV Self-Park, while Joel R. mentions "quite a bit of traffic noise from I-44" at Pin Oak RV Park.

Seasonal activities: Camping options expand during warmer months. At Indian Springs Resort, a reviewer noted, "Fun time! Clean campground and beach area. Float was easy and beautiful," highlighting the seasonal water activities available from approximately April through October.

Limited privacy: Most RV sites near Bonne Terre prioritize functionality over seclusion. Gary A. describes RV Self-Park with "Clean, no fire pits, full service. Just what I needed. Sites are side by side no privacy," indicating the utilitarian nature of many nearby camping options.

Tips for camping with families

Look for onsite recreation: Campgrounds with built-in activities reduce the need for travel with children. "[Big Creek RV Park] has a small pool, laundry, and arcade?!" notes Amy & Stu B., who also mention the campground is "right beside a BEAUTIFUL river."

Check shower facilities: Not all campgrounds offer equivalent bathroom amenities. "Bathroom and showers are clean, but dated. Not all facilities were in working order," warns Joel R. about Pin Oak RV Park, detailing that "Two of 6 washers were out of service, one bathroom stall was out of order."

Consider noise sensitivity: Family camping requires assessing noise tolerance. "Very clean place with reasonable prices. They were so accommodating," writes Natasha T. about Cahokia RV Parque, though other reviewers note its urban setting.

Tips from RVers

Cell service varies: Different carriers perform better in specific locations. "Verizon worked ok. T-Mobile very poor," reports Eric H. about Big Creek RV Park, while Charlie & Danielle B. note, "Of course, with it being close to St. Louis we had great phone service, full bars of 5G with Verizon" at Covered Bridge RV Park.

Site leveling: Prepare for varying pad quality across rv sites near Bonne Terre. "The sites are level, and the hookups worked right on time," explains Amber C. about RV Self-Park, while another camper at Big Creek RV Park describes "good level site" conditions.

Electrical reliability: Power stability matters for equipment safety. "After paying the power is supposed to be turned on. Mine wasn't after a couple minutes but I called the number in the confirmation email and it was on within seconds," shares Russell K. about the self-service nature of some area campgrounds.
