Best RV Parks & Resorts near Sturgeon, MO

Sturgeon is located centrally within easy reach of several RV parks in mid-Missouri. Cottonwoods RV Park & Campground in Columbia features 83 pull-through sites with full hookups including 50-amp electric service, water, and sewer connections. The level gravel sites accommodate big rigs, though spaces are positioned fairly close together. Cedar Creek Resort & RV Park offers similar full hookup amenities with both 30 and 50-amp options on spacious sites. Mark Twain Lake Jellystone Park provides seasonal camping from March through September with full-service RV sites. Shoemaker RV Park in Bevier maintains year-round operations with 50-amp electrical service and sewer hookups. "The sites were close together but friendly campers! Perfect place to stay and tailgate for Tiger games," noted a recent reviewer.

Most RV parks in the region provide essential amenities including clean restrooms, showers, and dump stations. Reservations are strongly recommended, particularly during University of Missouri football weekends when Columbia-area parks fill quickly. Cell service varies by location but tends to be reliable near larger towns. Many parks enforce specific cancellation policies, with some requiring notice 10 days or more in advance. Laundry facilities are limited at several parks, though Cottonwoods maintains a well-equipped laundry room. Pet policies differ between locations—Cedar Creek Resort restricts pets while most other parks welcome them with standard leash requirements. The proximity to Interstate 70 makes these parks convenient stopping points for travelers crossing Missouri, with several shopping centers and restaurants within 5-10 miles of Columbia locations.

    Lazy Day Campground

One of the Nicer Private Campgrounds

The campground (CG) was easy to find, located just 5 miles off I-70 with clear signage along the way. We parked at the designated registration area, and check-in was quick for our one-night stay. We were then escorted to pull-through site 17 with full hookups. The gravel pad was fairly level, and although the utilities were toward the back of the site, we had no trouble connecting. There were two sewer hookups—a nice touch. Water is shared, but the pressure was solid at about 50 psi. Sites are decently spaced, though some are closer together; ours was relatively close to the next site on the driver side. Our site had a nice yard, picnic table, and fire pit, but if someone had been in the site next to us, we would have been sharing that area. We got 2 bars on Verizon and 3 bars on T-Mobile, and our T-Mobile Home Internet worked very well. The CG WiFi was fine for email and web browsing. While the grounds have mature trees, most sites—including 17—are satellite-friendly. The 1/2-acre dog park was especially impressive. There was a mix of permanent, seasonal, and short-term guests. The park was clean, well-maintained, and featured fun wood carvings. The setting includes a pond and a trail to a small lake. A small camp store, ice, and propane are also available. Overall, this is a solid CG for overnight or extended stays. Out of the 325+ campgrounds we've visited, this one has the best rules sheet—hands down. It's hilarious, and you’ll instantly get their vibe!

    Good for a short stay.

Making reservations: We made reservations a few weeks in advance (glad we did). We received an email with the site and instructions, which included calling to make final payment. This one, like many private parks, has limited office hours. So, catching them while they were in the office took a few tries.

The park: That all said, the experience in the park was fine. Beautiful tree canopy covers the whole park, tiny playground for the kids at the back of the park, etc. There was plenty of space between sites for our tow vehicle and 37’ 5th wheel with 3 slide outs. Utilities were close (50/30/20, water, sewer). Pull through sites if nobody is slotted in front/behind (you pull through one site to get to the other). No branches in our way (we are 12’7” tall). This park is a combo of mobile homes, transient RVs and long term RVs.

Surrounding area: There is a gas station right up the road although it was too busy / small for us so we went back toward the main Highway where there are two big ones to choose from with plenty of space to turn. Seems to be the gateway to the Ozarks for gassing up, so plenty of space and stuff.

    Cottonwoods RV Park & Campground

    Very Nice Campground

Check-in was quick and easy and we proceeded to pull through site 83 with FHUs. The gravel pad was very long and we had plenty of room for our 40’ rig and F450. The utilities were in the middle of the pad and water pressure was decent at about 40 psi. As we were on the end of a row, we had a lot of front yard space. The sites here are very close together, but long-term guests kept their sites nice and well organized, and overall this CG was very clean. There are mature trees so satellite placement could be challenging. We were able to place our Starlink in the yard area for a good shot to the north sky. We got 4 bars on Verizon and their WiFi worked well for a campground of this size. At the office, they have a nice store and gift shop with one of the best selections of camping shirts etc. that we have seen.

Arrow Rock State Historic Site Campground — Arrow Rock State Historic Site

    Nice campsite during off season

Stayed two nights in early March in our RV. I knew the bathrooms would be locked and that the water would be off so had full fresh tank and jerry cans. There's a dump station on site so I didn't have to go home full too. Electric at the site was appreciated so we can run the furnace fan and water heater off it. I was not expecting to see no trashcans so I had to pack out. However, there were recycling bins.

I didn't see anyone selling firewood along the way so I scavenged for wood near the site. Not a big deal to find wood but it was wet and challenging to keep from smoking me out.

There were only a couple other campers and they were nice not to camp next to us. Felt like we were the only ones there. The best part of camping off season.

Walked the trail down to the river and appreciated the crushed rock trail. I didn't visit the nearby town, but will next time I visit.

The only negative was not being able to reserve and pay ahead of arrival, which means I have to bring exact cash. Who carries cash anymore?!

Site 37 is a premium site with 50 amp service for an additional cost. I didn't have enough cash to pay the premium site price and had already setup camp before realizing it. My RV has a 30 amp service and it was off season so I didn't feel too bad about paying the standard electric price.

    Lazy Day Campground

    Beautiful place for overnight

Beautiful place! We called ahead to see if they had sites available for the night. Arrived just before the office closed at 6pm. The friendly hosts escorted us to our pull-through full-hookups site. The campsite pads are level, nice and wide, gravel like the roads, with wide grassy areas between and beautiful mature shade trees everywhere. Our site had a picnic table and a small fire ring. That part of the site was not level, which made it pretty and feel more removed from neighboring rigs, but we had to use our leveling blocks under our picnic table. Full hookups worked fine. This was a 50A site so they provided a pigtail converter for our 30A needs.

    Bathrooms were so cute!

We would definitely stay here again.
