St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park provides pet-friendly camping options on concrete or gravel pads near a scenic lake. Dogs are welcome throughout the campground with standard leash requirements. The park features a dedicated fenced dog park accessible with a code, allowing pets to exercise off-leash in a secure environment. Full hookup sites accommodate both tent campers and RV owners traveling with pets. Sundermeier RV Park in nearby St. Charles also welcomes pets with spacious concrete pads that easily fit both RVs and pet owners' vehicles. The staff are known to be pet-friendly and accommodating. The grounds are well maintained and clean, making bathroom breaks and walks with dogs convenient.

The Katy Trail access point behind Sundermeier RV Park offers excellent dog walking opportunities, with a 1.5-2 mile path leading to historic downtown St. Charles where pets can join their owners exploring the area. The 4+ mile walking trail circling the lake at 370 Lakeside Park provides another option for exercising dogs while enjoying water views. Both parks offer convenient access to veterinary services in the greater St. Louis area. Campers with pets should note that Sundermeier doesn't permit campfires due to city ordinances, which may affect evening activities with pets. Beyond the Trail RV Park and Cahokia RV Parque represent additional pet-friendly options in the region, both featuring full hookup sites where dogs are permitted. Weather considerations include hot summer temperatures, so morning or evening walks are recommended for pet comfort.

Good location for exploring St. Louis

This campground is fairly close to downtown and very close to lots of shopping. A great place to stay to stock up on supplies before heading west. We stayed 2 nights to have a day to visit the Gateway Arch. The pool and playground seemed nice even though we didn’t use them. Nice dog park for smaller dogs. Several cabins are available along with RV sites. The tent sites are next to a river under large trees. Plenty of spaces for big rigs. Our site was no very level but nothing our auto-leveling couldn’t handle.

Nice, clean campground, level pull-through sites - ours had a paver-patio and grill, a lot of shade throughout, dog park, and a creek to explore. This was our 2nd time here. Close to Saint Louis, Six Flags, and hiking.

      St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park

      Convenient to St. Charles

Easy off I-370, campground is new and large. It is on a lake with bike trails, kayak rental, and kids splash pad. Staff were helpful. I received about 5 pieces of paper when checking in. You need a code to get into the dog park. Shopping nearby. Used this as a base to visit historic St Charles.

LEDLENDSER MH10 and KOA Route 66 review

      Campground review:

Once googling local campsites at the last minute for a weekend getaway with both dogs, we came route 66 campground. They have a dog park, rv hookup sites, electric tent sites and primitive sites. We stayed at a primitive tent site with both dogs. Site t13, which unfortunately was one of the very few camp spots with zero trees so we're unable to use our hammock. (Most of the other sites had great trees for hammock setups). Other amenities on the campground included a heated pool, bike rentals, basketball courts, a country store for firewood, supplies, and gift shop. Needless to say this was not a "roughing" it type campground. For the dogs though, we were right across from the creek to take them down to play. Also, kids were catching crawdads! Great campsite that is pet friendly and very family friendly!

      Product review:

      Ledlenser mh10

This headlamp first of all comes with a 7 year warrantly(must register the product)! On top of that all these features: a rechargeable battery with a USB port. Rapid focus system with 2 tough button on headlamp to adjust lighting. The strap is very easy to adjust and fit to comfort, lightweight despise the battery pack attached to the headlamp. The lighting is phenomenal! You also get a green and red additional glass lense that you can screw into the front of your lense for any activity and not disturb others with a bright white light. Me, howsoever, I was able to on this camping trip, use the headlamp to continue to play a game of cornhole... and winter, might I add.. thanks to my headlamp for optimal vision;). Included are some pictures of how bright and fitting the headlamp is. I was highly impressed! Never once did it slip... which I have struggled with in many headlamps that it seems the lamp is too heavy and slowly makes its way down your forehead. The Ledlenser stays in place and is very comfortable! Also, doesn't leave that weird band line on your head... at least I didn't experience it like I have on others. Very impressed overall!

      Lots to do

There is lots to do at this park. There is a pool, bike rentals, dog park, movie night, basketball court, and more. You can bring your RV, travel trailer, tent camp, or stay in a cabin. Most of the sites are in the shade and are fairly level. The bathrooms were clean and well maintained. They have Ele/water and Ele/water/sewer sites. It is close to train tracks, but I only heard the train once at night. It’s close to Six Flags, shopping, and restaurants. They even have a cute caboose cabin you can stay in.

      St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park

      Really nice overnight stay

We spent one night here (May 11, 2022). This is a very nice easy access CG with wide, spacious, and level pull through and back-in gravel sites (25 paved). There are a lot of activities available: archery, boating, fishing, dog park, biking (wish I brought my mtn bike), walking, playground, horseshoes and volleyball. We did not have time to visit the clubhouse and did not make use of the bathrooms or showers. It is a great base camp to visit the area. The WiFi was great as was cell phone reception. We would definitely stay here again.

    Guide to Maryland Heights

Camping options near Maryland Heights provide convenient access to outdoor recreation while staying close to St. Louis amenities. The region has a humid continental climate with hot summers where temperatures often exceed 90°F and mild winters, making spring and fall the most comfortable camping seasons. The terrain varies from riverside lowlands to wooded bluffs, with elevations ranging from 450 to 600 feet above sea level.

    What to do

Water activities at Pere Marquette State Park: The park sits at the confluence of the Illinois and Mississippi Rivers, offering excellent fishing opportunities. "The hiking is worth the effort. The views from the bluffs are gorgeous," shares Joel R., who notes "there were owls when we were there."

Historic exploration in downtown St. Charles: Access the Sundermeier RV Park and hop on the Katy Trail for a short ride. "You can literally be parked right at the Katy Trail. Through the gate at the rear of the campground, and you can bike for miles. Easy ride in to St. Charles a wonderful historic river town on the Missouri River," says Cheryl K.

Wine and beer tasting in Defiance: Beyond the Trail RV Park offers easy access to local wineries. "It is located in a sleepy little winery town. It is just a few minutes from the main part of town with multiple beautiful wineries within a few miles," notes Jamie C., who adds "Just on the other side of the trail is a great brewery with a fantastic patio and rooftop deck."

    What campers like

Level, secure sites at Casino Queen: The Draft Kings at Casino Queen RV Park offers urban camping with city views. "Very clean and secure overnight park just outside of STL. Phenomenal views of downtown and the arch, and fairly easy access to I-55/64/70," reports Scott C., who appreciates the "clean, paved, level sites with full hookups throughout."

Family-friendly amenities at Jellystone: Families enjoy Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Resort At Six Flags for its recreational options. "This is not a rugged style campground as there are many amenities such as a pool, putt putt golf, volleyball, and more. They also host daily kids activities and crafts," says Lindsey R., who recommends it for "camping with kids."

Lake views and recreation at St. Peters: Campers appreciate the maintained facilities at St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park. "The grounds are clean and pleasant, if a bit sparse with little shade. This will change over the subsequent years, however, as there are many relatively newly planted trees. The nicest spots are the ones by the lake," notes Suzie S.

    What you should know

Train and aircraft noise: Several campgrounds in the region experience noise from nearby transportation. At Sundermeier RV Park, "trains pass 2 blocks away several times nightly, but after the first night you won't notice," according to Jennifer B. Similarly, Josh F. mentions that at Casino Queen RV Park "there are trains every 15-30 minutes all day long."

Weather and seasonal considerations: Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F with high humidity from June through August. Spring brings potential flooding, especially at riverside campgrounds. "It was out of commission for most of the summer of 2019 as the entire area was flooded," Annie C. reports about St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park.

City ordinances on fires: Campfire restrictions vary by location. At Sundermeier RV Park, Brian A. notes "the only bad thing which isn't the campgrounds fault, is you can't have a camp fire due to the city ordinances." Always check current rules before planning evening activities.

    Tips for camping with families

Recreation rentals for kids: Rent equipment at St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park to keep children entertained. "They rent out peddle boats, bikes and peddle cars/buggies as well. We rented a peddle buggy. Those are a lot harder to get moving then they look. Awesome workout for the whole family!" shares Barbie B.

Playgrounds and activities: Cahokia RV Parque includes family-friendly facilities. "The grounds, pool, laundry, and bathrooms were all in excellent repair and clean. The park was quiet, but very family friendly," notes Lee T., who adds there's "a great playground for the kids!"

Gateway Arch access: When visiting St. Louis attractions, consider proximity to major landmarks. "Easy check in, but the camp host said the shaded spots were too narrow, they were not. Stayed three nights and saw all the sites: The Gateway Arch, Union Station, aquarium, botanical gardens," shares Dennis P. about his family's stay at Casino Queen RV Park.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup positioning: Be prepared for varying utility setups. At Casino Queen RV Park, Josh F. warns "Utilities are set up weird on all sites - Water and electric are at the very rear of the site by the sewer, so you will need a decent sized hose to reach if your water intake is in the front of your camper."

Leveling challenges: Some sites require extra attention to level properly. At Jellystone, "The site was ok, tricky to level. There was a steep drop just past our steps, and not a lot of room to set up chairs," explains Jan S.

Water pressure variations: Expect significant differences in water pressure between campgrounds. Susan L. noted at St. Peters' 370 Lakeside Park "The water pressure was so strong that I could barely open the water pump!"
