Table Rock Lake provides the backdrop for glamping near Kirbyville, Missouri, with the region's Ozark Mountain landscape offering wooded campsites at elevations between 700-1,200 feet. The area's humid continental climate brings distinct seasons, with summer temperatures averaging in the 80s and cooler nights in the 60s, making spring through fall ideal for outdoor recreation. Camping options range from luxury treehouses to lakeside RV sites, with most campgrounds remaining open year-round.
What to do
Hiking trails for all levels: Table Rock State Park features paved walking and cycling paths connecting boat docks to the dam. "Table Rock is one of the cleanest lakes to go to around Missouri. Table Rock state park allows for some amazing opportunities to expand your knowledge and your children's knowledge of the wildlife, and outdoors," shares Gabbie G. from Table Rock State Park Campground.
Marina activities: The Port of Kimberling Marina offers boat and jet ski rentals with easy lake access. A camper notes, "Has lots to do. Boat and jetski rental, floating cafe, hotel with pool or cabins. Plus dock and slip rentals," according to Chandra H. from Port Of Kimberling Resort & Campground.
Swimming beaches: Indian Point Campground provides dedicated swimming areas when lake levels permit. "We kayaked around the cove while others swam. No alcohol or pets allowed in the beach area which I appreciated. Family friendly!" mentions Natalie C., who appreciated the clean facilities.
What campers like
Proximity to attractions: Many campgrounds offer shuttle service to nearby Silver Dollar City. As one visitor to Tall Pines notes, "We chose this campground due to the shuttle that ran from the campground to Silver Dollar City, as that was our main reason for this trip. We had our 4 and 6 year old great grandkids with us."
Quiet atmosphere: Despite being close to Branson's busy attractions, Branson Musicland Kampground maintains a peaceful environment. "Let me just say this... the commercials for this place will really draw you in. Looking at this site you cannot imagine the campground being quiet. It is located only a block over from the 76 strip and just behind some attractions. But once you enter the campground itself it is much more quiet that you would ever expect!!" writes Crystal C.
Variety of accommodations: From basic tent sites to luxury cabins, the area offers options for every budget. "The cabins were my main point of interest here as each one is quaint and has its own feel. Equipped with picnic tables and grills they are nice retreat and moderately priced for the area," notes a visitor.
What you should know
Booking requirements: Reserve well ahead for specialty accommodations, especially during peak season (March-December). "We stayed at the #2 campground this past weekend. We really enjoyed our stay! The camp sites are spacious and you are not sitting on top of each other," shares Alex S. from Indian Point.
Weather considerations: Table Rock Lake water levels fluctuate seasonally, affecting beach access. "Rains also can dictate your usage of certain portions of the park as the level of the lake can climb and engulf the swimming beach and outlets to the marina. Upon my visit I noticed the swimming beach was completely under water."
Site selection matters: Research site layouts before booking, as terrain varies significantly. "If you are staying here book online and really look at the map when doing so to ensure your sizing needs are met in way of parking," recommends an experienced camper.
Tips for camping with families
Playground facilities: Great Escapes RV Resorts Branson offers organized children's activities throughout the day. "Scheduled activities for the kids over the weekend was amazing. They had crafts, bubble parties, pool, hay rides, and more. The staff was friendly, and beyond helpful when needed," shares Chris W.
Frisbee golf course: Treasure Lake RV Resort maintains a frisbee golf course for family recreation. "There is an indoor and outdoor pool, mini golf course, arcade room, frisbee golf course, walking trails, and it's in the heart of Branson but you would never know. It's a quiet campground in a busy city but you hear no traffic."
Consider site location: Some family-friendly campgrounds separate active and quiet areas. "One great feature of this place, is the fact that they separated the 'Family' and 'Activity' areas from the older folks area. Oldies like us can enjoy the kids play and noise, but can get away when it becomes too much. That's great," notes Wolfgang M.
Tips from RVers
Site sizing considerations: Verify site dimensions before booking, as some campgrounds have challenging layouts. "This park is definitely in the trees, and it is not that big rig friendly. We have a 42ft 5th wheel, and we had a very bad experience at this park. We ended up doing damage to or truck and rv trying to get into/out of phase 4. Big rigs stay out of phases 4 and 1," cautions Jason M.
Elevation challenges: Bar M Resort & Campground offers level sites despite the hilly terrain. "Nice, easy and quiet with a great pool and lake access! We will definitely be coming back. Site 47 has a bit of sun," shares Taylor D., noting the peaceful environment.
Utility connections: Some campgrounds offer varying levels of hookups throughout their properties. "We stayed in the upper section (electric only) - the lower section next to the marina has full hookups. There are a few pull-through, but most sites are back-in and long enough for almost any rig," explains Larry F., detailing the options available.
