Best RV Parks & Resorts near Virginia, MN

Several RV parks dot the Iron Range region surrounding Virginia, Minnesota, offering varied options for motorhome travelers. West 40 RV Park in Gilbert provides full hookups with 50 amp service on level gravel sites from May through October, with big rig access and ample space between sites. Iron Trail RV Park and Campground in Chisholm features similar amenities but operates seasonally from May to November. Sherwood Forest Campground, also in Gilbert, accommodates larger RVs with full hookup sites including water, sewer, and electric connections. Red Pine Campground near Duluth offers pull-through sites with 20/30/50 amp electrical service on gravel pads. Most RV campgrounds in the region require reservations during peak summer months, with many operating on a seasonal basis from May through October. Sanitary dump stations are available at most parks, though locations vary - some have on-site facilities while others direct RVers to nearby options. Cell service varies significantly throughout the area; Verizon typically provides the strongest coverage with 3-4 bars reported at most locations, while T-Mobile service can be spotty with just 1-2 bars in more remote areas. Pet-friendly policies are standard across most RV parks, though specific restrictions may apply. Propane is not universally available on-site, so travelers should plan accordingly. Winter RV camping options are limited, with most parks closing after the fall season, though Bear Head Lake State Park Campground remains open year-round with electric sites available for cold-weather RV camping.
