Shade As the campground was built in 2018, shade trees have been planted on select sites in the area of Site 18 through Site 31, but are not tall enough yet to provide shade. This centrally-located campground was a decent spot for RVers. It looked to be fairly new: impeccable and level sites, well-spaced out, and full hook-ups. Wifi and AT&T service was good, though we didn't use much. There were no trees to speak of, which made it hot, but it cooled down nice enough at night. Was very quiet. Definitely appealed to an older clientele, as there were no playgrounds, trails, etc, but the kids stumbled upon a sand dune just off the main stretch of campsites. Not sure if they were *supposed* to be there, but a little playing in the dirt can't hurt, right?!

Lovely campground in a good location. I stayed in the top area with electric only hook ups. This area is pretty secluded. The full hook up area is pretty busy with several activities. WiFi doesn’t work well during peak browsing hours but works well at odd times and late. Large sites with room for an rv and room for a tent. Nice picnic table and fire pits. Would definitely stay here again.

This is a new park still under construction lots of flat gravel spaces. They’re all pull through with full hook ups. Is close to a golf course and a casino in the city of Marquette. Nothing fancy nice new bathrooms.

We have been camping every Labor Day at Marquette Tourist Park for about 8 years. We come up from the mid Michigan area for Marquette’s Blues Fest. This park is set in a beautiful area around the Northern University. Some sites have full hook up that we love, but this year we didn’t reserve early enough to get one. The site we are on is #2 and it’s very nice, facing the water. It has water and electric and a great big tree for shade. We love Marquette, it’s our “Happy Place”.

We enjoyed our stay at Tourist Park in Gwinn. I loved that it was a small park with mostly RVs and a few camping spots. We have an Aliner and most of the RVs were big with their own bathroom, so the facilities at Tourist were almost all ours! Full hook-ups, bathrooms with showers, basketball court, fishing, Escanaba River, and hiking trails all right at the park. Close to Marquette, Presque Isle, and many more beautiful spots. My dog was allowed and they had a leash hook outside the bathroom and dog bag station. We would definitely go back.

Jack's Pine Lodge was an amazing neat little campground. They only have about two or three dozen sites but all are full hook ups and the location is amazing too. In the middle of the National Forest, smack in the middle of the UP. Everything is about 45 minutes away, but you'll get an amazing night sky and great camping hosts.
LegendOne great thing about this park is the location and how close it is to downtown Marquette and Lake Superior. The campground can tend to feel a bit crowded in the summer and on weekends but there are not many campgrounds in town so you may have to put up with crowds for convenience. We didn’t have reservations and could not get a spot for the weekend but sites did open up during the week. The park offers great water access for fishing, swimming and paddling plus there are many other amenities like a playground, ball fields, trails, picnic areas, etc. Another plus is the paved bike path that runs by the campground and leads downtown (about a 10-minute bike ride) and along the waterfront.
There are a mix of sites from those fitting the largest of RVs to tent sites. Lots of tall trees provide shade but this can make for some crazy maneuvering with large rigs. Be aware if you are a large RV with tow car that many sites are not long enough so be specific how long you are when you reserve a site. The park is dated and in need of some work so there are potholes in the roads and not all sites are level. Many sites in the RV hookup areas are sandy/dirt especially when campers put our patio mats and park vehicles wherever they want. The hook-ups are not laid out conveniently on some sites which requires extra hoses and electric cords. There is WiFi in the campground but does not pick up well in all areas of the park – it just depends where you are but works well at the office. Our television antenna picked up a dozen or so channels including the major networks. Verizon 4G was strong and our hotspot worked great.
There was a sign posted mentioning there were reported break-ins and people should lock up their belongings. We found this a little disturbing because you normally don’t see this in campgrounds. It also appeared that some campers were not well-versed on camping etiquette throwing trash in fire pits, walking through others campsites, and leaving garbage all over their sites.
GuideOpen, level gravel sites and some concrete pads scattered throughout this pretty new campground. A few baby trees in the open meadow are trying to get started, but other than those there is no shade. We stayed in a full hook up 50 amp site, and experienced no power issues despite 2 days of freakishly high winds and scorching heat in the 90s. This is an immaculately clean and well run campground. Wi fi is ok for email and phone scrolling social media. The only reason we didn't give 5 stars is due to construction in the campground with dump trucks and beep beep beep of machinery backing up every day. Once they are finished and the shade trees grow this will be a premier campground in a beautiful area. Pets allowed on leash. Trash receptacles convenient to each area of the campground. Bath house with coin laundry machines.

The waterfront sites (lake Superior) were amazing with fire pits behind the campers on the beach. All the big driftwood along the shoreline. It's a nice park, we walked the beach with a cocktail & met some nice people. We made dinner & were sitting there at our picnic table when a ice cream guy came buy in a tricycle playing music came by we bout ice cream for dessert. Loved it he was a volunteer working for the park.
We had a family next to us in a tent with 4 kids & the youngest cried all night. OMG I'm glad we only had 2 nights of it. This campground is beautiful, it was cool out and raining a bit so we were limited on what to do.
We went to Picture Rock, Miners Castle, Munising falls, and other little falls along the road. I would go here again

This park is a KOA property and just did not work for us. It is a typical KOA meaning it is packed with campsites, kids screaming at the pool, and where you get a “nothing special” overpriced campsite. The campground has rental cabins, tent sites, and sites perfectly suitable for RVs of any size. Some of the roads are a little narrow and there are some low hanging branches but nothing to prevent large RVs from staying here. A number of sites have full hookups with cable, some have electric and water, and some have no hook-ups. Tent sites set off to one side of the park which is not very close to the bathroom or you can pitch a tent on RV sites.
As for amenities, they are typical of a standard private park being heated swimming pool, horseshoe pits, playground, laundry and camp store. They advertise 440 aces with hiking trails but I never found hiking trails. There is one section on the east side that has old roads you can walk but I would not call it a trail.
Let me explain some of the things we didn’t like about this park. The bathroom situation was bad. They just did not have large enough facilities for volume of people in the park using the facilities. Even though they cleaned it daily, it got wrecked in no time because of the sheer number of users and discourteous campers. The laundry room was nice and clean but only had three washers and three dryers so you either had to wait or wash at odd times. The roads, as well as your site and patio, were dust and sand which made for a constant mess. Our site (#15) was not level and we just gave up after a while. I’m not sure if they limit the number of campers on an individual site (or police it) because the two spots across from us were always loaded with people. There is a dump station but only one RV can dump at a time and it is located near the entrance/exit which caused some traffic issues at peak use times.
The location of this park is good – you are only three miles from downtown Munising and Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore. Just south of the park is the Hiawatha National Forest which is nearly 900,000 acres of beautiful woods, rivers, and lakes with plenty of recreational opportunities. Pictured Rocks Pizza made one of the best Pizzas we have ever had. A narrated boat tour to see the Pictures Rocks coastline is definitely worth the price.
Overall, we did not have a good camping experience and would not return. Alternative campgrounds are thirteen miles south in the Hiawatha National Forest or at the Munising Tourist Park three miles east of town on Lake Superior.
GuideMy family stayer here for five night this past June. Reservations and deposit was easy to do online. Their reservation system was easy to use, able to pick out site and was also able to do some more extensive search criteria on it as well to check availability. The office is a small building as you enter the campground. The staff was prepared for us and the process of checking-in was very smooth.
This is a newer park but well maintained. The sites are well layout, with a good amount a space between sites. Full hookups and everything worked well.
If it were dry it could see things get dusty on a windy day but the area had a good amount of rain this summer and this was not an issue for us. There is a good mix of pull-thru sites and back-in sites. The site was what looked like a mixture of gravel and recycled asphalt and was mostly level. A little rough on bare feet but an outdoor rug help out a ton. While we were there they were planting tress. It will take sometime for them to grow to provide very much shade but you can tell they are looking towards the future.
There were a lot of bugs while we were there, so it was hard to stay outdoors for a long period of time during certain times of the day. But this is the Mid-west and it is just part of this region of the US. Next time I would bring a screen tent to be able to sit outside and enjoy the view.

This campground in located on the east side of small town of Christmas and a short drive west to Munising, WI. and it is not a far drive to Pictured Rocks National Lake shore. It is a beautiful park and I would highly recommend seeing the rocks along the lake shore either from the water on a guided boat tour, kayak tour, or boat ( there are pontoon rentals available too). Most of these options are available in Munising. Also hiking through the park forest, along the lake shore, rivers and many waterfalls was a great experience.
We will definitely stay again at this RV park again.

Went on a week long trip through the U.P. This was our first stop coming from Detroit. We had a tent site. Showers and bathrooms were clean. Was about 5 minutes outside Munising. Great place to stay if your planning on visiting pictured rocks. It’s right on the lake too with boat rentals if you just want to hang around your campsite. Friendly staff. Laundry facilities. Only thing we didn’t care for was tent sites were kinda right on top of each other. But had larger sites for RVs and electric hook ups. Again just stayed for the one night to jump to the porcupine mountains.

Petes Lake is a great campground tucked in the Hiawatha National Forest. The campground is located about 15 minutes south of Munising. We stayed in Munising at a private RV park for a few days before discovering this place and fell in love with it. The campground has only 41 sites but because they are well-spaced and heavily treed you have some privacy and don’t feel cramped. If you want a campsite right on the water, look at sites 4a and 5a. Sites 7a and 8a are walk-in tent sites having lots of privacy. There are plenty of sites that are long and level enough to fit large RVs you just have to be mindful there are lots of trees. The main roads in the campground are paved and wide enough to maneuver. Campsites have no utilities but there are vault toilets and potable water. Picnic tables and fire pits are at each site and you are allowed to collect firewood from dead and downed trees (which I love since I am a campfire lover). Be aware that there are only two vehicles allowed per site and you will be charged $6/vehicle/night. Since this is a National Forest campground, senior pass holders get ½ off camping making this a bargain at $9/night.
For the outdoor enthusiast who is looking to get away and enjoy the outdoors this place is great. It is set on the 190-acre Petes Lake where you have a swim beach, boat launch and fishing piers. We spent a couple of hours paddling the lake which was very peaceful. Running through the campground is the Bruno’s Run Trail – a 9-mile trail traversing the woods and around small ponds. This was a great trail except for some pesky bugs that started annoying us as we heated up. Our dog loved the hike because we passed a couple of ponds letting her cool off and get a drink. We only encountered four mountain bikers during our hike which was nice compared to the crowded trails in the nearby Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore.
We would definitely come back to this campground and it would be a 5-star if it had hook-ups for our RV.

I only wish my community back home would make an investment by building such a wonderful campground. We found this location online using the Dyrt App. This is a relatively small community campground that was recently opened. You can fit just about any size rig as the sites are huge. I wish we found it sooner so that we could have reserved a lake front site over looking the lighthouse. The bathhouse is top notch with a sitting area that is separate from the shower. They also have a family shower room/bath area. Sites are paved and they have great fire pits on each site. The water has been high this summer as we have witnessed several other campgrounds with flooding. This one was not immune as they had several with sitting water but most were just fine. I would maybe call in advance for sure recommendations. All sites are full hook up with exception of the primitive sites. There is no store and they were having some issues with WiFi while we were here. They have pull through and back in sites. Very affordable pricing for the amenities. If we are ever in the area again, I would definitely stay here again.

We were looking for a place to camp near the Pictured Rocks that wasn’t an RV park and was reservable. We ended up at Bay Furnace. It’s very quiet, right on Lake Superior and not too far from all of the Pictured Rocks sites. If you don’t mind rustic, I recommend Bay Furnace. You Amy get closer with the Pictured Rocks campgrounds, but first come first serve makes me nervous.

We reserved our site online. Having never been before we didnt really know what to expect. It was nothing less than perfect. Tucked away in a silent wooded area. Paved roads all the way in. 15 minutes from Munising. Was a perfect hideaway for us driving from SW michigan over memorial day weekend. Birdwatching trails for days and 4x4 trails surround.

This was a quaint campsite. It's first come first stay, so it's a bit or miss. We went during the end of September so the colder weather kept most people away. It's a pretty far drive from Munising, but fairly close to Miner's Castle. Lots of trails near by. And there is a boat launch at the campsite.
ScoutBeware! I booked this campground over a year ago. I had to change plans due to family matter which prevented us from visiting this campground. I spoke with Jeff in October and he said not an issue and would refund my money. After multiple phone calls, he still hasnt refunded my money. He is now refusing to take my calls. Jeff is a liar, cheat and dishonest owner that shouldnt be trusted. If he turns this problem around I will update. We visited Gitche Gumee RV Park, no overnight stay. UPDATE: Jeff still refuses to talk to me. He is the worst Campground owner I have come across in my 3 1/2 yrs of full timing.
