    Angola/Hogback Lake KOA Holiday

    Nice campground

I stayed at this place when it was B&B and it is now a KOA. Several new sites were added and the park appears to be much cleaner. The restrooms are nice and the camp personnel are friendly. There is a dog park for walking the dog but with so much driveway I just walk the dog around the park. They have several dog bag stations around the park to make clean up easy. There are 3 playgrounds and boat area on the lake. I believe you can rent boats to fish even though I never have. I will definitely stay here again.

    Johnny Appleseed Campground

    Great location

The location here is pretty crazy it’s right in the middle of town but feels like a park there is a river and wooded area that makes you feel like you are in nature but you are just a parking lot away from an arena and college. There is a playground and a dog park. Here as well as ball diamonds. This is a great family friendly place but is very very busy during the season.

    Elkhart Campground

    3 1/2 star campground

It is a very large older CG with a few upgrades. Clean, with decent amenities. We were placed in the rear section, which was just ok. Site needed leveling, had no shade at all and was close to major hwy. The front and side sites seemed nicer and had ample shade with some concrete sites. Laundry room, pool and bathrooms were very clean. Large dog park, but was far from our site. Was only 25 min from Notre Dame and about an hour from lake Michigan WiFi was great, no cable, but good antenna reception

    Elkhart RV Resort by Rjourney

    Great campground!

Great campground in the heart of Amish country. Near Elkhart and the RV/MH Hall of Fame & Museum. Great place to visit, really interesting. Also, near Shipshewana. Campground has lots of activities: pool, miniature golf, volley ball, fishing pond, big chess set, bike rental, mining area, playground, and rec. hall w/ video games, pool, ping pong, air hockey, and juke box. Nice little store. Dog park. Clean restrooms. Friendly owner and employees. Lots of mature shed trees.

    Pike Lake County Campground

    Pike Lake Campground

Warsaw Indiana's Pike Lake Campground has campsites available for seasonal, monthly, weekly, and nightly rentals for RVs, campers, and trailers only. There are about 45 tightly-packed sites with shower/restroom facilities. Located right next to the lake and park, there's a lot to see and do to keep you busy during your stay.

We stayed for a night in mid-May while traveling through Indiana. Nearly every site (if not all) was occupied, but very quiet for a Saturday night. I'm thinking this location is primarily monthly/seasonal rentals and a bit too early in the season for the renters to be camping at their sites. Everything was clean and well-maintained. What few people were there seemed friendly. The sardine-style RV park setup doesn't offer much for privacy, however.

I'm surprised we were able to get a site since it seemed like a spot that caters to mostly longterm campers, but it's still early in the season. For me, it's a convenient, safe, and clean stop when traveling through Indiana.

Guide to Warsaw

Camping options near Warsaw, Indiana center around the area's interconnected lakes system including the Barbee Chain, Pike Lake, and Hoffman Lake. Located in northern Indiana's lake country, the region features multiple waterways with elevations around 830-850 feet above sea level and a humid continental climate with warm summers. Winter camping is limited with most facilities operating from mid-April through mid-October when temperatures typically range from 65-85°F.

What to do

Hiking at Chain O' Lakes State Park: The park offers multiple trail options ranging from easy to moderate difficulty, with Trail 2 featuring hills and stairs. "My family and I go to Chain O Lakes for short hikes, kayaking and camping. We come here out of convenience, since we live twenty minutes away," notes reviewer Whitley K. about Chain O' Lakes State Park Campground.

Miniature golf and arcade games: Some campgrounds offer family-friendly recreational amenities beyond water activities. According to Mike F., Pla-Mor Campground has "an in ground swimming pool, mini golf, a driving range, laundry, an arcade and ice cream. It's a clean and well kept for campground."

Fishing on connected lake systems: The region's interconnected waterways provide excellent fishing opportunities. "Bring your boat or watercraft! Plenty of lakefront camping spots on the barbie chain of lakes. Several (deep, clean) lakes hooked together by channels. Also hook into that big bass or musky!!" reports Adam M. about Pic-A-Spot Campground.

Swimming at dedicated beaches: Multiple parks maintain swimming areas during summer months. At Potato Creek State Park Campground, Jeremy C. found that "Kayaking and the beach was a huge hit with the kids."

What campers like

Lake access from campsites: Many campers appreciate direct water access from their sites. Tim N Amanda C. enjoyed their experience at Hoffman Lake Campground, stating "Had an awesome view right on the lake. Loved how friendly the new owners were. We will definitely be back for another relaxing weekend soon."

Themed weekend activities: Family-oriented campgrounds often organize special events. Mariah J. enthusiastically recommends Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park: "Awesome campground and amazing cabins!! Looking for an awesome place to spend some time with your kids and families??!! Yogi bear campground is the place!!!"

Clean facilities: Campers frequently mention well-maintained bathrooms and grounds as important factors. Matt from Hoffman Lake Campground noted that "This is one of the nicest, cleanest and quite campgrounds I've stayed at... The pool, bathhouse and lake where all clean and nice."

Concrete pads at improved sites: Level, stable parking surfaces enhance the camping experience, especially for RVs. "We stayed at C-2 and it was a full hookup with a level clean dry concrete pad. We will stay here again," reported Matt at Hoffman Lake Campground.

What you should know

Campground noise levels vary: While some locations provide quiet surroundings, others can be quite active. Truly W. mentioned about Chain O' Lakes: "We were in the tent portion and it was very loud, the pit toilets did not have doors, and there were some mosquitoes. It was Memorial Day weekend which could explain the noise/busy-ness."

Seasonal rentals dominate some parks: Many campgrounds cater primarily to long-term visitors. According to Whitley K., Pike Lake County Campground "offers almost no privacy. It seems like a close knit community. Many locals stay here in their camper while still being able to work."

Bathroom facilities differ significantly: Not all campgrounds offer full shower facilities. Adam M. notes that Pic-A-Spot Campground has "no showers or running water bathroom facilities."

Some restrictions on outdoor rugs: Certain campgrounds have specific policies that might surprise visitors. Matt mentioned about Hoffman Lake Campground: "The only thing that I think needs addressed is their policy on outdoor rugs, I mean they charge you a considerable amount of they catch you putting a rug down."

Tips for camping with families

Look for dedicated children's areas: Some campgrounds invest in playground equipment and kid-focused amenities. Abbie K. recommends Pla-Mor Campground, noting "Lots of things to do with kids. Planned events, awesome putt putt, pool with splash area for littles. Multiple playgrounds, even a new one recently built."

Consider tent location carefully: Family tent sites may have different amenities than RV areas. As Truly W. observed at Chain O' Lakes: "The RV sites have better bathrooms I believe."

Evaluate weekend vs. weekday stays: Campground atmosphere can change dramatically between weekends and weekdays. Laura F. shared about Hoffman Lake: "We reserved last minute, they had plenty of room. Granted, it was a Monday. Beautiful lake. Very quiet. Shady."

Check for naturalist programs: Some state parks offer educational activities. Julie B. from Chain O' Lakes State Park mentioned: "We spoke with the naturalist and volunteered our time she was absolutely fantastic."

Tips from RVers

Site angles affect usability: The positioning of RV sites impacts how spacious they feel. At Elkhart County Fairgrounds, Crystal found that "A little close to your neighbors but the way the sites are angled you had plenty of room."

Distance to utility hookups varies: RV owners should prepare for varying hookup locations. MickandKarla W. noted at Elkhart County Fairgrounds: "The utilities are at the far end of the sites... If we had hooked up sewer, we would have needed about 25' of hose to reach a hole in the ground(no screw in adapter)."

Consider seasonal weather impacts: Some pet friendly camping near Warsaw, Indiana is challenging during extreme weather. Stacy M. shared about Jellystone Park: "There is very little shade and during my last visit the late September fall temperatures climbed to nearly 90 degrees and was brutal."
