    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Marion Campground & RV Park offers full hookup RV sites with sewer, water, and 50-amp electrical connections approximately 30 miles north of Vienna. RV sites are primarily gravel with pull-through options to accommodate large rigs up to 40 feet. Cypress Lakes RV Park in Calvert City provides 105 year-round sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups suitable for big rigs. Fern Lake Campground features 60 lakeside RV sites with water, electric, and sewer hookups on mostly level gravel pads. Several campgrounds in the region include full bathroom facilities with showers and sanitary dump stations for self-contained units. "This campground is laid out very well. The showers/bathrooms are perfectly designed down to a shelf in the shower."

For larger motorhomes and fifth wheels, several parks near Vienna have pull-through sites that eliminate difficult backing maneuvers. Many campgrounds operate seasonally with limited winter availability, though Marion Campground maintains year-round operations. Cellular coverage varies significantly throughout the region, with stronger signals typically available at RV parks closer to highways. According to one visitor, "Right off the freeway with very tight spots, even for the pull-through sites. Loud freeway noise." Dump stations are available at most established RV parks, though several reviewers noted limited availability of propane refill services. Pet policies generally allow dogs with leash requirements, and most campgrounds require advance reservations during peak spring and fall seasons when Shawnee National Forest attracts the most visitors.

      Magnolia Campground & Country Store

      Highlights

      🌳 Highlights

Welcome & Hospitality Newly opened in October 2020 and family-run by Rick & Glenda Wilson, guests often highlight their warm, friendly service . One reviewer said:

      > “Owners and staff all super friendly, engaging and kind.”

Campground Quality Features include full hookups (30/50 amp, water, sewer), gravel pull-through sites for big rigs (up to ~43 ft), free WiFi, dump station, propane fill, fire pits, picnic tables, laundry, and a shower house .

On‑site Country Store & Deli A notable perk is the store with fresh deli items and daily lunch specials—particularly Friday catfish dinners—plus occasional breakfast on Saturdays .

      ⭐ Guest Reviews Snapshot

      Mick & Karla (30 Mar 2025)

Booked same-day, chose pull-through site, enjoyed 40 psi water, decent WiFi/cell service.

Friendly staff and solid amenities, though gravel/dirt sites got dusty or muddy depending on weather.

Road noise from nearby I‑57 noted. Felt $40/night was a bit high.

      CatTrailzz (24 Jul 2024)

Quiet despite being near the freeway. Loves the deli (noting salads and pulled pork).

      Clean facilities, new shower room.

      Plans to stay again.

      QueenMartell (16 Mar 2024)

      Friendly check-in, excellent service.

Accommodated a 43 ft fifth wheel with ease.

Highly recommends, loves the Friday catfish.

Other reviewers (Kitty, Kyla D, Tergeo)

Consistently mention friendly owners, clean/gravel sites, good common areas, and a strong likelihood to return .

      Pros & Cons

      👍 Pros 👎 Cons

Warm, personal service Sites are gravel/dirt—can be dusty or muddy Full hookups and big‑rig friendly Road noise from I‑57 On-site deli with fresh food & catfish dinners Wi-Fi and cell coverage are serviceable but not exceptional Clean shower/laundry facilities Price (~$39–40/night) might be a bit high for basic amenities

      Summary

Magnolia Campground is a great overnight or short-term stop if you’re looking for friendly hospitality, solid basic RV hookups, and the novelty of a country store with good food in southeast Missouri. It’s particularly suited for large RVs, travelers who enjoy a welcoming vibe, and those who appreciate a Friday catfish dinner. It’s not a destination resort, so if you're seeking plush amenities or a quiet nature getaway, plan accordingly.

      Bottom Line

If you're rolling through with an RV and want a hassle-free, friendly, quick stay with full hookups and good food, Magnolia is a solid choice. For longer stays, be prepared for gravel underfoot and some road noise—but clean facilities and warm hosts might still make it worth it.

      Benton KOA

A Great Overnight Stop Just Off I-57

Benton KOA Journey is an easy overnight stop just off I-57. Since we were already familiar with the campground layout, we called ahead to ask if we could go directly to our site on the opposite side of the road from the office and check in afterward. The staff gladly accommodated our request. We stayed in Deluxe Full-Hookup Pull-Through Patio Site 65, which made it easy to center our 40-foot fifth wheel on the utilities. The site was slightly off level, but we did not need to use blocks. The gravel patio featured a huge wheelchair-accessible picnic table, fire pit with cooking grate, stand-up charcoal grill, wooden swing, and bench. We received one bar on Verizon and two bars on T-Mobile. There are mature trees around the seven pull-through sites across the road from the main campground, but Starlink should work in most of them if you're able to position the dish around the trees. For this overnight stay, we used our T-Mobile Home Internet, which averaged 358 Mbps download and 2.7 Mbps upload. The campground Wi-Fi was adequate for light browsing. A fenced dog park was conveniently located near our site, and being across the road from the main campground helped reduce interstate noise. Overall, this is a clean, well-run KOA with exceptionally friendly and helpful staff, and a good overnight stop returning to our home base in southern Illinois to rest and dump tanks.

      Paducah-Kentucky Lake KOA

      Decent KOA

Before arrival, we received a helpful confirmation email with clear directions for entering the campground, although the turn was easy with our 40-foot fifth wheel. Check-in was exceptionally friendly—we were even welcomed by a fellow Brinkley owner—and escorted to pull-through Site A6 with full hookups. The utilities were easy to reach, and water pressure was good. We were pleasantly surprised to learn we could park our truck anywhere, even on the grass. Starlink would be questionable because of the mature trees, but the campground's Wi-Fi was better than most we have experienced at around 50 Mbps download and 24 Mbps upload. We had two bars on both Verizon and T-Mobile, while our T-Mobile Home Internet work well. The upper A-loop pull-through sites are fairly level but somewhat close together. The terraced B, C, and D loops could be more challenging for larger rigs to maneuver, level, and exit. The campground also offers a fishing pond, cabins, tent sites, and a fenced dog park. Overall, this is a clean, well-maintained KOA Journey with friendly staff that worked very well for our overnight stay, and we would stay here again.

      Magnolia Campground & Country Store

      Very Good Customer Service

This review is based on a short stay rather than a destination campground (CG) experience. We found this CG while looking for options near Sikeston, MO, and decided to try it based on positive online reviews. Booking was easy with a same-day reservation, and we received an email with directions, the WiFi password, and instructions to pick any site between 8 and 13, designated for big rigs and short-term stays, as most of the other sites were occupied by longer-term residents. We chose pull-through site #11 with full hookups (FHU) due to its convenient angle. All of the sites, including the shorter back-ins, offer FHU. Our site accommodated our 40’ fifth wheel and F450 truck comfortably, with centrally located utilities and 40 psi water pressure. The WiFi was sufficient for checking emails and general browsing, while cell service was limited to 1 bar on Verizon and 3 bars on T-Mobile. With few trees, satellite reception wouldn’t be an issue. During our stay, we were the only short-term guests. Some sites had picnic tables and fire pits, and while ours did not, we could have moved them if desired. The CG has a nice shower house and laundry facility, but the real draw is the country store, which operates more like a restaurant. The owner and staff were exceptionally friendly, and the food was good. The sites are pretty much gravel and dirt. At $40 per night, the price felt a bit high for the amenities offered. We were there during dusty conditions, and friends came through a week later in the rain, and the CG was muddy. Along with the country store with a restaurant, there’s a dump station, plus they sell ice and propane. Being located along a frontage road off I-57, road noise was noticeable. Overall, we had a pleasant overnight stay and appreciated their hospitality.

      Boomland RV Park & Campground

      Great for an Overnighter

Boomland RV Park& Campground was super easy to find off I-57 near the I-55 junction. After passing the Boomland complex, the large campground sign clearly marks the right turn into the park. The campground operates first come, first served, so campers choose a site in either the 50/30-amp or 30-amp pull-through sections, all with full hookups, with power options clearly marked on numbered site posts. We drove the small campground loop to find a longer pull-through so we would not have to disconnect our 40-foot fifth wheel and F-450 for an overnight stay, and settled on site 20 with 50/30-amp service. The 30-amp section in the center of the campground appeared to have the longest sites overall. After parking and setting up, registration was handled inside the building by completing an envelope with name, vehicle license number, and payment, then dropping the envelope in the box. All utilities functioned properly, though the campground does not offer Wi-Fi. Cell service was solid with three bars on both Verizon and T-Mobile. We walked to the Boomland complex and noticed 24-hour diesel pumps that accept major credit and trucker cards, which could be convenient even though we did not fuel there. The Boomland complex was worth exploring, with a restaurant, gift shop, packaged foods, fireworks, souvenirs, and snacks, and during our November visit the seasonal Christmas shop was especially impressive. Boomland also offers a 10% military discount on non-food items. The campground does not have a designated pet area, but a large park-like space across the street provided plenty of room for off-leash exercise. Overall, this campground made a solid and convenient overnight stop.

      Riverview Campground

      Beautiful Views

Riverview campground is a clean, quiet, family friendly campground. It overlooks the Ohio River and provides amazing views at sunset. The stargazing is also great. There are 30 amp and 50 amp sites with water, and a dump station is on site. Firewood is also provided. This was the perfect place to spend the weekend!

Kentucky Dam Village State Resort Park

      Old and small

The sites are very small but spread out. Our 35 ft class a barely fit. They do show length limits for sites and they definitely max limit. There is electric (30 amp) and water at the site but it was 75 ft from my sites. Extensions are needed. The staff is friendly and the roads are paved but there are signs directing where to go. Great bathrooms and plentiful. Also coin operated laundry. Fairly close to the freeway.

      Canal Campground- Lake Barkley COE

      And then some.....

Canal Recreation Area is right by Grand Rivers, Ky and Patti's Settlement. That right there is enough said as far as outdoor activities go. Then you have Canal Rec Area that just adds too the vacation.

Book early because the best sites stay full, but really they are all pretty good sites. The different areas cover just about anything you are looking for in a site from big rig pull through sites, tiered tent sites, water and beach access sites and boat ramp sites.

There is a trail within the campground to walk, a day use area, newer showerhouse/laundry facilities and dump stations. The area is large enough to jog, bike and golf cart. If your not interested in the nearby entertainment there is enough to do right on site to keep you occupied for your entire vacation be it a day or a week+

      Great fishing camp

    Guide to Vienna

Camping options around Vienna, Illinois include several RV parks within 30-40 miles of the small town. Located in the Shawnee National Forest region at approximately 400 feet elevation, the area experiences humid summers with temperatures regularly exceeding 90°F and mild winters where overnight freezing is common. Most campgrounds in the area experience highest occupancy during spring wildflower season and fall color changes when temperatures are more moderate.

    What to do

Fishing opportunities: At Fern Lake Campground, campers can fish in the small stocked lake right on the property. "There is a small stocked lake to fish in. The bathrooms are clean, as is the entire well maintained park," notes one visitor. The lake may be small, but provides convenient fishing without leaving the campground.

Visit Paducah attractions: Several campgrounds provide convenient access to nearby Paducah's cultural attractions. "Located on the edge of Paducah, Kentucky this is the perfect place to stay if you are going to the quilt shows or visiting the National Quilt Museum," mentions a camper about Fern Lake Campground.

Watch river traffic: Birdsville Riverside RV Park offers Ohio River views where guests can observe commercial vessels. "Right after getting set up, we got to see a big barge go by. We would definitely recommend this place," shares one camper. "Watching the barges go up and down the river along with an occasional recreational boat or 2," adds another visitor describing the river activity.

    What campers like

Quiet waterfront sites: Campers frequently mention the peaceful setting at Birdsville Riverside RV Park. "We enjoyed a quiet and relaxing stay at this wonderful park," notes one reviewer. Another mentions, "Super nice owner, very clean small park without a lot of extra frills. All open sites waterfront."

Convenient interstate access: Cape Camping & RV Park offers easy highway access for travelers passing through the region. "Cape Camping is an easy campground to get to from Interstate 55. Check in was quick and easy," explains one reviewer. Another mentions it's "Nice place to pull off I-55 and rest."

Clean facilities: Many campers appreciate the well-maintained bathrooms at rv parks near Vienna, Illinois. At Paducah RV Park & Campground, visitors mention "Quick full hook up pull through, with Great sky views, country feel and a common outdoor area near lake." Another reviewer simply stated it's a "Nice off the highway quite facility."

    What you should know

Highway noise levels: Some campgrounds close to interstates experience traffic noise. At Marion Campground & RV Park, one reviewer noted, "Right off the freeway with very tight spots, even for the pull-through sites. Loud freeway noise." Another mentioned, "It is right next to interstate 57, so unless you're inside your camper, you'll definitely be listening to the highway."

Seasonal considerations: Most rv accommodations near Vienna operate seasonally with limited winter availability. Birdsville Riverside RV Park operates from "March 1 to November 30" according to their listing information. Water systems at many campgrounds may be winterized during colder months.

Site configurations: Campsites often have shared utility setups that affect how RVs position. At Birdsville, "the electric poles and water and shared between each site (you have your own plug but it's in the middle of the two sites) which means the odd number sites are back in, even numbers are pull in." This arrangement requires planning for hookup access.

    Tips for camping with families

Water park access: Venture River RV park offers proximity to water recreation. "Stayed at this campground while visiting family. The facilities are great, but you can tell it is a very new campground by the lack of mature trees for shade. We would stay here again and bring the cousins to play at the water park," reports one family.

Playground facilities: Several campgrounds offer play areas for children. At Cypress Lakes RV Park, "Kids enjoyed the playground and the reservoir is really beautiful," mentions one family. Another visitor adds, "Very nice campground. There is a small lake to fish in. Nice play ground for the kids. Also has many activities for the kids."

Family activities: Organized events occur regularly at some campgrounds. One Cypress Lakes visitor notes, "Lots of fun activities on Holiday weekends throughout the summer season." Another mentioned, "Great if you have kids. People were nice and the park was clean. This is more of a fun destination place then an overnight."

    Tips from RVers

Big rig accessibility: Pull-through sites accommodate large RVs at several campgrounds. At Fern Lake, "We stopped here overnight twice because it was close to the highway and had pull-through sites to accommodate our 43' fifth wheel." The reviewer added, "Very serene, pretty and clean campground."

Site spacing considerations: Site width varies considerably between campgrounds. At Cape Camping & RV Park, one RVer observed, "This is a campground that is not great for camping. The sites are close together, no shade, mostly cement." However, at Fern Lake, "Even though we were close to the neighbors the sites are angled, so we had a beautiful view of a grassy area with trees out our living room windows."

Internet connectivity: For RVers needing to stay connected, internet quality varies by location. One visitor to Cypress Creek RV Park reported, "IT does have the best internet we have had in 3 months." At Cape Camping, a reviewer noted, "We got 3 bars each on Verizon and AT&T. There was a public paved walking trail along the back of the CG, which was very nice to walk the dogs."
