    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Campgrounds near Meridian, Idaho range from full-hookup RV parks to dispersed sites on nearby public lands. The area features several developed campgrounds including KOA Boise Meridian RV Resort and Boise Riverside RV Park, both offering full hookups, showers, and reservable sites. Most developed campgrounds in the region accommodate both tent and RV camping, with several also providing cabin rentals. Swan Falls, located south of Meridian, offers both established camping on Idaho Power property and more primitive camping on adjacent BLM land with permanent fire pits and pit toilets.

Road conditions and accessibility vary significantly throughout the camping areas near Meridian. Most established RV parks are easily accessible with paved roads, while dispersed camping areas may require driving on dirt or gravel roads. "A front wheel drive sedan can do this drive, but the road is bumpy. It was dry when I went to maybe if it's muddy it would be more treacherous," noted one visitor about Swan Falls. Summer temperatures in the Boise area can be quite hot, making shaded sites particularly valuable. Many campgrounds in the region remain open year-round, though services may be limited during winter months. Cell service can be spotty in more remote areas, particularly in the mountains northeast of Boise.

Camping options vary widely depending on location and campground type. Riverside locations are particularly popular, with the Snake River and Boise River providing scenic backdrops for several campgrounds. Campers seeking more solitude often head to the mountains northeast of Meridian near Idaho City, where national forest campgrounds and dispersed sites offer cooler temperatures and forest settings. According to one review, "This is a great campground between Boise and Idaho City. What is nice about this campground is that it is up the mountain away from the highway so the campsites are bigger and there is less road noise." Urban RV parks provide convenient access to city amenities but typically offer less privacy between sites. Wildlife viewing opportunities exist throughout the region, with the Morley Birds of Prey Sanctuary south of Meridian being a notable destination for birdwatching.

      Celebration Park

      Gorgeous but hottest place ever

This is such a nice place, the river is accessible at many points near camp, the spots are big and maintained, toilets clean, there’s a little floating dock, and the birds of prey reserve is there. Plus the museum area walking distance from camp is really neat. There’s no shade at all. We were roasting in 100 degree plus weather and had to leave. Otherwise it would have been super if it had a little shade relief.

      Owyhee-Dispersed

      Popular but pretty

We got a nice spot off the road by the river but it was crowded often. Rude fisherman waded 2-3 feet right by us while we were sitting on the bank in our chairs while another walked right through our site. All were drunk and cussing loudly and one called me a B for asking her to move along out of my camp site. It was the weirdest interaction. Weather was nice, hot springs were really crowded, trashy, too gross to get in. Found a full diaper and almost threw up. Biking was fun, found a little trail to wander through the wilderness. Hard to find a spot here near the weekends I’m sure.

      KOA Boise Meridian RV Resort

Good for a few nights in Boise

I’d say 4.5, but that’s not an option.

I have not utilized many of the amenities at this resort, however, my family chimed in for my review. My husband and children say four stars simply because the game room is lacking compared to a few we’ve enjoyed recently, but that only matters to a select group of campers, and if that’s the only thing we can complain about, that’s just silly.

yes The bathroom my family used was nice, clean with good hot water. Sites are easy to get into, slightly close together, and grass/gravel pads/roads are well maintained.

Surprisingly quiet for being in the middle of the city and quick to access all we came to Boise to do!!

      Big Eddy Campground

      Great but noisy

Small campground on the river. Flat parking and good facility. Road noise is significant.

      Mountain Home RV Park

      Awesome rv park

We arrived, checked in and an employee on golf cart drove us to our site. All camp amenities were explained. We are super impressed with the concrete pad, lush green lawn, shade trees and ample space between sites. Quiet, slight road noise from the distance. Took our Good Sam and rate was very reasonable. Would highly recommend !

      Arrowrock Reservoir Dispersed

      Great water 1

Town ( Idaho City)is expensive, so come prepared. I did find a deal there for firewood. The gas station great price per stick. Okay, my dog loved the water, even though she only gets in to her chest. With 100+ degree days it was necessary. Really only one tight spot...don't make boats back up. The lake has retreated(water released to keep lake full) don't park boats to close to shore at night. Lost about 50' so far.

      Grayback Gulch Campground

      Peaceful but dry and dusty.

It’s was in the 90s when we arrived. Site was mostly clean, a couple bottle caps left behind and a drink cup in the fire ring. Ground was not flat, so our tent was slightly tilted. Very dusty and hot but quiet and overall clean. The toilets were thankfully well maintained, 6 rolls of toilet paper in toilet #4 and we got there toilet #3 had a sign that said wet paint. But #4 was close enough to our reserved spot 5, I’m glad I didn’t have to make a long trek, LOL. The road coming in is vary narrow and I’m surprised we never crossed paths with another car. It got cold later on at night thankfully and going to The Springs was the best decision we made since it helped cool us off. Overall our first camping trip was smooth sailing. Would come back again.

    Guide to Meridian

Camping opportunities near Meridian, Idaho range from lakeside tent sites to full-service RV resorts, all within 30 minutes of the city center. Summer temperatures typically reach 90-100°F in July and August, making early morning or evening outdoor activities more comfortable. Campsites near Meridian offer varying levels of shade and access to water recreation, with several locations providing fishing ponds or river proximity.

    What to do

Fishing at small stocked ponds: Caldwell Campground and RV Park offers lakeside tent sites with access to a 6-acre fishing pond. "The fishing pond is nice to sit by and watch the ducks," notes one visitor at Caldwell Campground and RV Park.

Bike along paved greenbelts: Several campgrounds connect to paved trails ideal for cycling. "There is a greenbelt that runs from the campground all the way to Lucky Peak Reservoir, a distance of 19 miles," writes a reviewer about Boise Riverside RV Park.

Visit nearby attractions: Meridian's central location provides easy access to both urban and outdoor recreation. "It's got very nice access to a lot of plazas that are really RV friendly. The sites are well maintained and the site itself is quite beautiful," mentions a camper at KOA Boise Meridian RV Resort.

    What campers like

Urban convenience with river access: Campers appreciate sites that combine city amenities with natural elements. "This spot is on the Boise River, a short trek from wineries, shopping and the river. Something for everyone! Nice people, great location," shares one visitor at Boise Riverside RV Park.

Clean facilities: Multiple reviews mention facility cleanliness as a highlight. "Clean and next to Boise river. Perfect place to stay and visit Boise," notes a reviewer at Boise Riverside RV Park. Another camper at Mountain View RV Park writes, "The bathrooms are very nice and very clean. Laundry was cheap to do."

Swimming pools for hot days: When temperatures climb, pool access becomes valuable. "The pool, hot tub, and steam room are centrally located and are clean and inviting," states a camper at Ambassador RV Resort.

    What you should know

Highway noise levels: Many campgrounds in the area experience traffic noise due to proximity to major roads. "The highway noise was constant and the occasional air planes added to the atmosphere, but that didn't stop us from having a great experience," explains a visitor at Mountain View RV Park.

Limited natural shade: Several campgrounds lack substantial tree cover. A camper at Hi-Valley RV Park notes, "The one downside is lack of shade. They have trees but at the back end of the site & are useless for keeping you or the RV cool. Because there is no shade at all, sitting outside on the patio & tiny table is pointless."

Pet policies and amenities: Dog owners should check facility rules before booking. "Lots of folks with dogs, I like that. But no dog poop on the grounds," comments a reviewer about Mountain View RV Park.

    Tips for camping with families

Pool access for kids: During hot months, swimming facilities become essential for families. "We rode bikes along the path, enjoyed the river, toured Boise state and downtown, and even ate dinner without ever getting in our car," mentions a camper at Boise Riverside RV Park, highlighting the convenience of staying connected to activities.

Walking distance attractions: Choose campgrounds with accessible recreation. "The lakeside location and walking trails are beautiful. Feels like living outside of town but still close to everything town offers," shares a camper at Caldwell Campground and RV Park.

Community spaces: Some campgrounds offer indoor recreation areas. "In the clubhouse you can play pool, watch tv, swim in the pool or lounge in the jacuzzi. There's also a wonderful kitchen where you can reserve the room for a get-together," notes a resident at KOA Boise Meridian RV Resort.

    Tips from RVers

Site spacing considerations: Most RV parks in the area feature closely spaced sites. "The sites are pretty close, and the wifi is not great. Those are my only reasons for the 4 star," reports a visitor at KOA Boise Meridian RV Resort.

Electrical reliability: Check utility connections upon arrival. "Huge spaces. Level, clean, well run. No complaints. Laundry has 6 washers at $1.50. Really nice spaces," mentions a visitor at Ambassador RV Resort.

Seasonal planning: Summer heat affects camping comfort significantly. "Because there is no shade at all, sitting outside on the patio & tiny table is pointless. 98% of the people stay inside. We had to run the AC all day, but there was pretty much always a really nice breeze," reports a camper at Hi-Valley RV Park.
