Chattahoochee Bend State Park Campground accepts pets at all accommodation types including tent sites, RV spots, cabins, and glamping options. McIntosh Reserve Park also welcomes pets with its riverside camping area and dedicated pet-friendly trails. Both parks maintain standard leash policies requiring dogs to be kept on leashes no longer than 6 feet when outside vehicles or tents. No designated dog parks exist within these campgrounds, but the extensive trail systems provide ample exercise opportunities for pets. Park at the Farm offers a unique pet camping experience with mini horses and farm animals that campers with dogs can observe from a respectful distance. The sites are really quiet and the pond is full of fish, making it a peaceful retreat for both pets and their owners.

Joe Kurz Wildlife Management Area permits pets but requires visitors to obtain a valid Georgia hunting or fishing license to camp on the property. DNR officers regularly patrol to check permits and enforce regulations. Bush Head Shoals Park features 6 tent sites with pet-friendly policies and basic amenities including fire pits and picnic tables. Visitors should note the active hunting seasons at Joe Kurz WMA when planning trips with pets, as increased hunter presence can affect trail access and safety considerations. Weather conditions along the Chattahoochee River corridors can change rapidly, so pet owners should bring adequate shelter and cooling options during summer months. The new bathhouse with shower facilities at McIntosh Reserve provides convenient amenities for campers with pets after outdoor activities, with water spigots available for filling pet water bowls.

      Pine Mountain Camp Ground

Well maintained roads. Large sites with choice of full sun or shade site.

Staff is great and his campground allows campfires. Pet friendly with two dog parks. Great pool and has cabins and yurts to reserve. Less than three miles from Callaway Gardens and FDR Park. Town of Pine Mountain...two street lights...very quaint sidewalk shops! This place is a hidden treasure.

      Forsyth KOA

      Bad Experience

We should have known when we first arrived not to stay here. Our welcome was very brisk and unfriendly. Our site was literally right next to the freeway with terrible freeway noise and fuel smells. We asked to be moved and our new site was so narrow that the picnic tables didn’t even fit in the site and tottered on the edge of the site’s bank. They offer site garbage pick up daily, but not to monthly stays. So they drive right by your site while picking up garbage to sites right next to you! Playground is satisfactory but the dog park is muddy and rocky. When we signed in and mentioned we were excited about having a dog park the check in person said she wouldn’t take her dog to it! I highly recommend driving right on by! We use KOA’s regularly and this campground management is far below KOA standards! Beware!

      Good Overnight Stop

This was a good overnight site.  Typical KOA pull through where you are close to your neighbor.  They have a small dog park which is a bonus.  Staff was friendly and helpful.

      Stone Mountain Park Campground

So close to me and I love it.

Lived in Georgia my whole life and yet my first time to Stone Mountain was literally three years ago. Now we have an annual pass and go all the time. This place is world renowned for its fireworks and laser show but you have to go off the pavement to truly fall in love with Stone Mountain! This place is great for everyone. I mean everyone, from free runners to hikers and all you folk that like to “camp” in your RVs. Visit this place anytime of year and you will not be disappointed. Apparently it’s rated #1 as the best place to camp in Georgia. I’m more into the nature only kind of camping but that’s not everyone’s cup a tea. Stone Mountain has something for everyone.

      Stone Mountain Park Campground

      Family orientated

Several options available. RV hook ups, camp grounds, and yurt rentals. I did not rent a yurt but have heard good things from friends who have. Very clean camp grounds, if you don't mind a familes close by. Can set up next to the lake. Pet friendly and several children and families around. Ton of activities around stone mountain park.

      Indian Springs

      Nice campground - Site 19

1st time for us to Indian Springs. Very clean and well maintained. Site 19 was on a less populated loop and a long stretch of woods on the "driver" side thus no neighbors.  Site was very easy to back into.

We stayed in March, so when the leaves are off the trees, you can see the lake. Kinda doubtful you would during the summer. Gray water dump is very close. Bathhouse was about a 2 minute walk, but didn't use it.

I'd stay on this section again, but maybe across the street. or preferably down by the water.  There's a short drop off behind the fence by the fire ring, that the dog keeps trying to go down and getting stuck - imagine little ones may love that area.

The town of Flovilla is right outside the gates, with  some shops and a nice restaurant. Dollar General is 5 mins away. Dauset Trails Nature Preserve is about 15 minutes away, but note pets aren't allowed. High Falls State park is about 15 minutes away with good hiking trails. Plus boat, and paddle board rentals.

      Stone Mountain Park Campground

Awesome grounds with basic to full-hookups. Pet friendly.

Awesome grounds in a family and pet friendly atmosphere. Neighbors were kind and helpful. Very quiet and peaceful time. Walking the grounds was nice and hilly. There’s also trails in between areas and around the campground. If you like the water, bring your trunks, kayaks, and poles.

      Atlanta Motor Speedway

      10/10 Experience!

Not only is it a racetrack, it's a campground! AMS offers full hookup camping all throughout the year! Just $35 per night - was an amazing deal! Plenty of room, plenty of spots. They have some events throughout the year - great entertainment! There's also a gift shop and tours are available - was a super cool experience (ask for Miss Jan)! Away and outside of the noise and traffic of Atlanta (thank goodness!). Friendly staff and clean property. Pets are also welcome! Definitely recommend!

    Guide to Sharpsburg

Chattahoochee Bend State Park Campground and Joe Kurz Wildlife Management Area both allow pets while offering contrasting camping experiences for dog owners. Chattahoochee Bend provides developed sites with amenities including picnic tables, fire rings, and access to showers and restrooms, accommodating tent campers, RVs, and those seeking cabin or glamping options. Joe Kurz WMA offers more primitive dispersed camping for visitors with a valid Georgia hunting or fishing license, featuring basic sites with fire pits suitable for tent camping or small trailers. The property has no cell coverage and camping areas are frequently used by hunters during active seasons. Many campers report the quiet atmosphere and fishing opportunities in the pond make it worth the minimal facilities.

McIntosh Reserve Park provides riverside camping along the Chattahoochee with pet-friendly sites that offer the soothing sound of small rapids nearby. The park features both primitive camping areas and a newer bathroom facility with flush toilets and shower for campers with dogs. No designated campsites means visitors can select their own area, with some choosing more private spots away from other campers. Leashed dogs are welcome on the park's hiking and horseback riding trails, including the 2-mile Eagle Loop Trail popular with pet owners. The campground charges $20 per night with no advance reservations required, operating on a first-come, first-served basis. The steep riverbanks and strong currents make the river unsuitable for dog swimming, though fishing from campsite shores is permitted.
