Port St. Joe RV Resort features 75 sites accommodating large motorhomes with full hookups including both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical service. Reservations are essential for most RV parks in the area, particularly during winter months when seasonal visitors arrive. Full hookup sites with sewer connections are available at most parks, though a few offer only water and electric with dump stations nearby. Cell service varies throughout the region with stronger signals in town and potentially weaker coverage in more remote locations. Pets are permitted at most facilities including Presnell's and Port St. Joe RV Resort, though El Governor does not allow pets. The Coastline RV Resort in nearby Eastpoint provides full hookups with 50-amp service but prohibits campfires. RV parks typically provide amenities like showers, toilets, and trash disposal, with some offering laundry facilities, cable TV connections, and WiFi. During storm seasons, availability may be limited as facilities recover from hurricane damage.

    St. Andrews State Park Campground

    Beautiful well kept state park

Amazing state park on the water. The campground is modern with nice clean bathrooms, laundry machines, vending machines, park store with cart rentals and other items. The spaces are close together but great. Nice level gravel pads, full hookups including sewer, and most have fire pits and picnic table.

Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park Campground

    Very Nice and Secluded

Very nice and quiet camp site. Each site is very private, and the camp is very secluded. After entering the park, it's a four mile drive. The closest large town is about one hundred miles away.

The beach is walking distance, but no pets are allowed on the State Park Beaches, but pets are allowed on the public beaches outside the park.

There's not much shade for tent campers.

This camp ground is hard to get into, so it's best to book early.

Lastly, although the camp ground have electric outlets at each site, 20, 30, and 50 amps, the closest high speed EV charger is 56 miles away in Mexico Beach, about one and a half hours drive.

    Camper's Inn

    Great lil one nighter

    Ok pros:

Staff are great. Friendly and helpful. Attached to an amazing fishing store. I could have stayed there all day talking about fishing. Great water, sewer and electric. Close to beach access and tons of stuff to do with in walking distance. Sites are a lil close but out our front door we had a concrete pad with picnic table and easily a good 5 more feet till neighbors. Gate access but key card. ($10 deposit which is returned when you check out)

    Cons:

Electric and water Hookups are on passenger side when connecting. Make sure your hookups can reach. Sewer is on drivers side, could have new piping done but worked for what I needed. It rained heavy!!! Tornado warning heavy. Yes it is wet and large puddles everywhere but this is Florida. Our site had a huge puddle but everything is solid underneath us. We leveled with no problems.

Overall this is a great lil stop over. The hookups and large puddles where a turn off for me but the staff and ladies in the office made me say I would definitely come back here again!!!

    St. Andrews State Park Campground

Great camp spot on the Emerald Coast. Near the city but a world away.

Newly renovated following Hurricane Michael, the camp boasts great shower and laundry facilities, electrical hookups, back in and pull through sites among the quiet of the beach dunes and palmetto swamp... a great natural area minutes from Panama City/Panama City Beach. There’s great opportunities for beachcombing, snorkeling and diving, particularly on the south end of the park on Shell Island, which is accessible by water taxi shuttle during the season. Recent viewing includes the lower mount and traverse rings of gun turrets constructed 1942-43, when the 166th infantry regiment was stationed here to guard Gulf shipping from German U-Boats following the sinking of the Empire Mica.

    Blue Spring Recreation Area

    Tiny and Free

Nice tiny campground in the Florida forest. There are only 3 sites and you must reserve online through the water management district even though it is free.

Porta Potty, garbage cans, covered and paved picnic table and fairly level sites on all 3 spots. All the sites are fairly separate and the middle site, site #1, is a "bump out" style and is more open and close to some swampy water. Sites 2 and 3 are back in and almost completely private.  No one else was there when we were. Mix of sun and shade and the covered picnic tables were a bonus because it added shade. Parking at the sites are sandy with some gravel but we had no trouble in out 26 ft class C. Not a very good spot for huge rigs or big fifth wheels unless you are a master at tight turns and backing in. On the road in is a day use area for the springs and there are hiking trails and picnic tables and grassy areas. There's also access to the water here in the day use area. Overall this is a nice place and we would stay again.

Sheriff drove through on our second day and checked our reservation so be sure to make one. Other than that we only saw one other person drive through. Very quiet but a bit buggy. We had a couple of ticks on us, though not embedded, but they are there and some flying pests as well. Probably worse in late spring and summer. Great place if just passing through or if you want some peace and quiet.

    Pine Lake RV Park

    Cheap w/ Passport America

Pros: quiet, level site, full hookups that all functioned, friendly work campers.

Cons: Very dated facilities in need of updates. Rec room is a "wreck." There are signs of patchwork repair and stalled projects everywhere. Very few services or businesses within 20 miles.

ATT IS GREAT! I did not try the wifi. I did not check out the laundry or exercise room.

    Carrabelle Beach RV Resort

    Relaxing on the beach

Nice campground. Helpful staff at check-in. It has a nice pool and is on the beach. Access is across Route 98, but the traffic was minimal. There is some road noise at site#39, but it is not bad. Level site, full hooks, cable TV, and good internet speeds. Getting the RV positioned was a little tricky. While the site is long enough, the sewer connection is closer to the front of the site, so we could not park at the back. We had to be positioned to reach the sewer connection and work our rear slide around a large palm tree. Site 39 backs up to the pool and park office. At busier times, there may be a lot of people traffic, but not during our stay. Also note that there are no firepit or grills provided at the site. You must have your own grill. We enjoyed our five-night stay here. IGA grocery store in Carrabelle is the closest. Fathom’s Steam Room and Raw Bar is an old Florida open-air restaurant and bar with live music. There is a small dog park in the resort. Lots to explore in the area: Carrabelle, Eastpoint, St George Island, Lighthouse, and State Park, Tate’s Hell State Forest, Crooked River Lighthouse, or just relaxing by the pool or on the beach.

    Southern Grace Lavender Farm

    Amazing Hospitality

I was surprised to see this place on the Dyrt, as we had stayed here through Harvest Hosts. I didn't realize it was open to regular campers as well. It does make sense though, that they would welcome all campers, because this place has really gone above and beyond to make it comfortable and welcoming to their guests.

They have a nice sized enclosed dog run, complete with a bucket of toys and balls, fresh water (continuously filled), and a poop scoop.

They have a cool store with all kinds of lavender products.

There's free roaming chickens and ducks, and an enclosure with a guardian dog and a big fat pig, I think her name is Priscilla.

They have several back in sites with power hookups and a little paved deck, and several pull through sites with a fire pit. They'll even bring you wood if you want to have a fire for the night.

I don't know how much it costs to stay here since we stayed here through HH.

Really, really nice place, open and peaceful, quiet, welcoming, and beautiful.

Dr. Julian G. Bruce St. George Island State Park Campground

    Beach Lovers Paradise

Let me say first that St. George Island State Park is perhaps the main reason we purchased our small travel trailer in the first place and found groups like The Dyrt for insight for other places to explore. We visited St. George Island in May on Florida’s“Forgotten Coast” but the State Park on the island really stole the show.

The first thing you’ll notice about both the island and in particular the State Park is how remote it is. The beaches are seemingly empty even during busy seasons. It has one of the most beautiful beaches in the entire state of Florida and as Floridian’s we are pretty particular. The beach is lined with beautiful sand dunes from one end to the other. The island is narrow with a single road maybe 5 miles long. The road was closed after the camp ground as they are still repairing the park from the last hurricane that hammered The Panhandle area of Florida. Not sure what's taking so long as State Park HQ is in Tallahassee only an hour or so away.

The park has one camp ground and sites are very hard to come by. One visit and you’ll see why. Facilities are very well maintained with a friendly staff which is true for most Florida State Parks. There was a good mix of people camping in tents, small trailers and big rigs which is nice as many places in Florida are dominated by people who camp with everything they own and have rigs bigger than our house.

You bring your own fun here so just chill on the beach. If you have kayaks or paddle boards bring em. If you have bikes, those would be good too. Fishing(check). You could probably catch dinner as there is little pressure on these waters. There is some hiking but just walking on the beach is great. Nice flat beach at low tide with hard packed sand from the outgoing tide will make it a great walk.

Be sure to visit Apalachicola across the bay. A really good place to eat is the Owl Cafe and if you can get there for a Sunday Brunch, all the better. Very local, very southern, very authentic.

We will be back for sure whenever we can secure a camping spot that fits our schedule. Hope it won't be too long!

Guide to Mexico Beach

Mexico Beach RV camping options extend beyond the immediate vicinity along Highway 98, with several parks located within a 30-minute drive. The area typically experiences mild winters with daytime highs in the 60s-70s°F and hot summers where temperatures regularly reach into the 90s°F. Hurricane season from June through November can affect campground availability and reservation policies.

What to do

Beach activities year-round: The white sand beaches at Mexico Beach remain accessible during winter months when northern visitors often seek warmer climate. Water's Edge RV Park provides convenient access to outdoor recreation. As one camper notes, "It is close to a 9-mile bike path, boat launch to beautiful St Joseph's and Apalachicola Bays, and the gorgeous beaches of Cape San Blas."

Fishing opportunities: RV by the Sea offers direct access to prime fishing spots. According to one camper, "the fishing was even more fun as our 6 year old caught 2 baby sharks here." This park is particularly popular with families seeking direct beach access.

Wildlife viewing: Many campgrounds offer opportunities to observe local wildlife. At Coastline RV Resort, campers can enjoy "the view of the bay! Get a spot up front so you can watch the dolphins!" This resort prohibits campfires but offers exceptional water views.

What campers like

Direct beach access: Some Mexico Beach RV parks offer immediate beach access. At Presnell's Bayside Marina and RV Resort, "Check out the campground site map, and if there is an oceanfront site, you won't regret booking this RV resort." This campground features a marina with boat rentals.

Immaculate facilities: Many RV parks maintain spotless amenities. At Panama City Beach RV Resort, one camper reported, "Clean close to beach great sites." Another described, "Very clean and close to Beach, shopping and food. At the quiet end of the island."

Laundry and shower facilities: Several parks offer well-maintained utility buildings. At Coastline RV Resort, a camper described the bathrooms: "I felt like I walked into a spa when I opened the door calming music started and the lights came on. The showers are big!"

What you should know

Seasonal fluctuations: Winter months (December-March) see highest occupancy as northern visitors seek warmer climate. One camper at Outback Springs RV Resort noted, "We found our Gulf National Seashore reservations cancelled due to COVID. We held out till days before leaving for a 3 month trip before searching for an alternative."

Space limitations: Many RV parks near Mexico Beach feature compact sites. At El Governor Motel & RV Park, a reviewer described it as "a very small campground where you park very close together. The park is very clean. No shade. Full hookups. Bath and showers and laundry."

Insect concerns: Some areas experience seasonal insect activity. One Presnell's visitor warned, "The only complaints weren't the parks fault. The yellow biting flies are the spawn of satan. I read they are most prevalent April-June and they were horrible."

Tips for camping with families

Dog-friendly beaches: Several Mexico Beach area campgrounds welcome pets and provide access to dog-friendly beaches. At RV by the Sea, a family noted, "The dogs had a great time chasing crabs on the beach and my daughters were able to find several perfect sea shells."

Designated play areas: Some rv campgrounds near Mexico Beach provide dedicated recreation facilities. Panama City Beach RV Resort offers "clean nice playgrounds for the kids, nice laundry area, great layout to take walks, level clean spots."

Necessary supplies: Stock up before arrival as some areas have limited shopping. At RV by the Sea, a camper advised, "Cape San Blas is secluded. You're about 10 miles from a grocery store and restaurants (we planned meals). But there is a general store that is surprisingly well stocked."

Tips from RVers

Site selection strategies: Many RV parks offer premium waterfront sites at higher rates. At Emerald Coast RV Beach Resort, campers recommend: "All concrete with class A sites facing a pond. Pickle Ball courts, basket ball court, dog walk areas and much more."

Hurricane recovery awareness: Some Mexico Beach area campgrounds continue rebuilding after storm damage. A visitor to El Governor noted, "This park has not reopened since the area was devastated by Hurricane Michael in Oct 2018. However, it is being rebuilt and will hopefully be ready for RVs in the next few months."

Sand management: Beachfront RV parks require specific preparations. At RV by the Sea, a camper advised, "2 warnings the site has no shelter from the wind and a storm could damage your Rv which happened to us and bring a good rug for the outside because you'll get sand everywhere."
