"Campground Review: We stayed at Ward Lake on Colorado's Grand Mesa. Ward Lake sits at about 10,000 feet."
We pulled over before the BLM sites with fire rings. Fun hikes up the base of the red cliffs and down to the creek. It looks like there is a swimmable spot but the water looked too compromised by farm run-offs to risk it. Also it’s a substantial drive up the gravel road past farmed fields.
Beautiful spot, a little noisy due to hwy. Our camp spot had melted candy on concrete and rangers had no way to wash. They did scrape it off the concrete pad. Otherwise nice, clean and spacious. No real hiking or biking at location. But river and ponds are nice.
This spot is beautiful. No cell service. The hiking is amazing. Quiet and peaceful. There were a few other campers but none within 200 meters of me so relatively private
Hot free showers and laundry machines that take quarters on site. Many rangers and staff of the campground are always around to help. Pretty pricy, you have to pay $10 just to get into the park (if you have an out of state license plate) then an additional $28 to stay the night. Lots of birds!
Pretty spot with stream water right behind the sites. You have to drive over a stream when you come in but it was easily crossed when we visited. We enjoyed the trail near by and we were the only ones here while camping over night, occasionally some atv trails were used near by. Vaulted toilets as well. Absolutely no service bc it’s the middle of the woods.
We enjoyed this spot! Easy to get to and only about 30 minutes or so away from Grand Junction. We were able to get our T@G trailer to a good spot, but the road to the different camping areas can be a bit rocky. Great weather in May, very comfortable boondocking. Closer to the road and other campers around, but surprisingly quiet. Beautiful in the evening and in the morning.
Made the mistake of coming out as it got dark. Found a fire ring and campsite but pretty sure I'm not on the right trail. Stressful as he'll. Tbis is a trail for serious kff reading and I'm a little concerned about even being able to get out in the morning
Great place to crash for a few days. Less crowded on the weekdays of course. But plan early as ALL sites have to be reserved (this even works on the day of).
Good views and flat spots. Got my 24ft rig in easily, had to go slow in a few spots
