Grand Junction BLM/OHV

SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Sitting on BLM land outside Glade Park, Colorado, Grand Junction BLM/OHV is a free dispersed camping area managed by the Bureau of Land Management within the places to camp near BLM Land — Grand Junction Field Office. The terrain is open and rolling, and the area is heavily used by OHV riders and dirtbikers. Proximity to an airport means overhead noise during the day is a real factor. This is not a developed site, and campers arriving after dark should expect a disorienting experience navigating the area.

There are no water sources and no bathrooms on site. A few fire rings near the initial parking area mark the most established camping spots, though the dispersed nature of the land means some visitors end up unsure of their position. As Alex M. notes after arriving at dusk, "found a fire ring and campsite but pretty sure I'm not on the right trail." Wind can be significant at night, with at least one visitor reporting a dust storm strong enough to be unpleasant. Trash accumulation has also been flagged by multiple reviewers.

Cell service is available, campfires are permitted, and pets are welcome. The site works best as a one-night stopover rather than a destination, and campers who want more developed amenities nearby can look at Grand Junction KOA to the northeast. Arriving before sunset, bringing all water, and having a clear plan for navigation makes the difference here. This campground is a practical fit for self-sufficient OHV riders or through-travelers who need a free overnight stop and can handle rough, undeveloped conditions.

This BLM area serves primarily as an OHV recreation site with some overnight use, though camping legality appears unclear. Visitors commonly noted significant noise from aircraft and wind, plus cleanliness issues.

This is bad

Made the mistake of coming out as it got dark. Found a fire ring and campsite but pretty sure I'm not on the right trail. Stressful as he'll. Tbis is a trail for serious kff reading and I'm a little concerned about even being able to get out in the morning

Fun With Toys

This was sort of near an airport, which could be annoying. It was a huge area for ohv riding and it looked like a lot of dirtbikers were having tons of fun. We used it as a transition point, but it was good. The rolling hills are pretty and if we had a dirt bike there was lots of fun to be had. No water, or bathrooms. A few small fire rings near the initial parking area, would be fun to explore further. It got really windy at night which kicked up quite a dust storm. Not sure if this is a regular occurrence out there, but it was pretty awful.

Full of trash... but ok for a stop over and fantastic sunset.

Listen... we needed a stop over and homies from Cali stayed here during first wave of Corona while we were stuck in Joshua Tree. Loud during the day and skydiving but fine for a night as long as you are coming in at sunset. It’s hot AF and AN ENORMOUS amount of trash. But we only stayed a night and the sunset made it worth it. Do yourself a favor, drop some acid and stay for the night.
