    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Campers using Greeley as a base are mostly working with eastern plains terrain: flat sites, limited shade, and campgrounds that prioritize utility over character. Greeley-area dispersed options cover what's accessible on public land in the region for those who want a no-fee alternative to developed sites. Most camping in the area runs through county parks, state wildlife areas, and a handful of private RV operations along the highway corridors. No national forest land is immediately close. Water sources are scarce on plains camping areas, so carry extra. Wind picks up in the afternoon across open sites, which matters for tent setups.

      Brainard Lake Recreation Area

      Beautiful setting, quiet

I’ve camped here several times in several different sites both the walk-in tent sites and drive up sites.
There are amazing day hikes that you can access from the campground. The last time I stayed there, I took a nap after a long hike and woke up to a moose munching on wildflowers 10 ft from my tent.

      St. Vrain State Park Campground

      Absolutely perfect!

My family and I booked a stay here for a night after struggling all afternoon to find a place to park our RV for the night. We were thankful to even get a campsite for the night, but because of this park we had full Hook-Up too! And for a great price! It was quiet, and there were not very many people there! Such a wonderful hole in the wall place! I know people say the interstate was too loud, however compared to other campgrounds, which are more populated and have lots of people noise, my family and I found it was actually more quiet. We saw plenty of wildlife that we didn’t see at other campsites either.

Moraine Park Campground — Rocky Mountain National Park

      All Star Campground

One of the most beautiful National Park campgrounds, and I’m putting it up against the Yosemite Valley campgrounds. I was able to get same-day reservations and stayed three nights at 2 sites in the D loop.
Ice is way overpriced at $8, so get that at Estes Park (only 15 min from Moraine Park). Moraine Park Visitor Center has great interactive displays and the best gift shop in the park. It’s worth it to take the extra drive to Bear Lake. I went closer to dusk and found parking and there was still enough light to do the easy loop.

      Farewell Gulch

      Beautiful, peaceful

Mid July and no one here. Incredible. The Switzerland trail is in pretty rough shape though, you can definitely make it out if you have AWD, but I almost got stuck on the way in thanks to the overlanding trailer I’m pulling. Be very certain about which site you decide to head to, don’t spend two hours inching your way around one tree like I did.

      Hell Canyon Dispersed

      Great Spot

Great spot, 4x4 definitely recommend. I’m in a Land cruiser with 3.5” coilover lift so no issues whatsoever. A few camper vans were here as well.

      Fort Collins Lakeside KOA Holiday

      Nicest KOA I’ve been to

On a road trip, we stayed here overnight and the staff were very accommodating since we needed two sites, one for us and a pull-through site for our U-haul. They were able to get two sites pretty close to together. We got in pretty late and had no problems pulling in and setting up. The bathrooms & showers were clean. I was very impressed with all the amenities at this location, there’s even a small lake. Highly recommend!

Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park at Estes Park

      Great proximity to RMNP

Our main reason for visiting Estes Park was the access to Rocky Mountain National Park and this place was SO convenient. An added bonus was that there were tons of activities for our kiddos to join in on while we rested from hikes back at the campsite (mini golf was definitely the highlight for our boys). Would definitely recommend if you are wanting a great home base for Estes Park and RMNP, especially if you have kids!

      Gopher Gulch RV and Campground

      Modern and Classy

Has a very elegant and classy clubhouse that has amenities, like laundry, showers, bathrooms, TV, workspace, wifi, and smart desk. There's a mini golf and playground outside, and lounge.

Showers and bathrooms are very clean.

      Gordon Gulch Dispersed Camping II

Great spot close to the Front Range!

Came up on Friday 7/10 about 4pm, F150 with a 23' TT. Roads are rough, but I saw a few sedans pass our spot. The numbered campsites nearest to the entrance were all full when we got there, but if you drive into the NF there were plenty of spots despite it being busy. People pouring in looking for camping past 9, tho. It did seem to clear out again Saturday morning, this area makes a good quick 'get out of the city' spot. Sheriff was doing rounds and giving tickets for campfires and checking ATV's, so it felt safe. Absolutely beautiful views, you forget you're only an hour or so from Denver.

Located at approximately 4,700 feet elevation in the Colorado Front Range, the Greeley area experiences warm summers with highs averaging 90°F and cold winters with lows around 14°F. Many campgrounds remain accessible year-round with reduced winter services, though summer reservations should be made 3-6 months in advance due to high demand.

    What to do

Water recreation options: Horsetooth Reservoir near Fort Collins provides multiple camping areas with water access. "The lake was great for paddle boarding, canoeing, and kayaking," notes a visitor to South Bay Campground, which sits directly on the water. St. Vrain State Park offers several fishing ponds stocked with various species across its grounds.

Hiking and biking: Trails around Horsetooth Reservoir offer scenic views and wildlife viewing opportunities. Inlet Bay Campground provides direct access to these trails. "Deer wanderer in and out of the campgrounds and were always on the road. Beware," advises one camper who stayed in October.

"About 30 min to Ft Collins, 40 min to Loveland and 1 hr to Estes Park driving through a beautiful canyon," notes a camper about Horsetooth Reservoir's location. Downtown Greeley itself offers cultural attractions approximately 15-20 minutes from Evans RV Park.

    What campers like

Mountain views: The Front Range setting provides scenic backdrops at many campgrounds. At St. Vrain State Park, campers appreciate the "numerous ponds, stocked ponds, trails, biking, birds, paddle boarding. The view of the mountains is to die for!"
