Best RV Parks & Resorts near Valyermo, CA

CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Several RV parks serve the Valyermo area in Southern California. Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon in Acton provides full hookups with 50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections on mostly level sites. "Small spots, but level, clean, cement, and full hook up," notes one visitor about Californian RV Resort, which is also located in Acton with similar amenities. Bonelli Bluffs in San Dimas accommodates larger rigs with pull-through sites and offers 50-amp service, though weekend occupancy rates approach 100% during summer months. The Antelope Valley Fairgrounds in Lancaster provides basic RV sites with water and electric hookups but fewer amenities than dedicated RV resorts.

Road access varies significantly between parks, with some mountain locations requiring careful navigation of winding roads. While Californian RV Resort sits high on a hill with steep access roads that one reviewer compared to "driving the hills of SF with a trailer," flatter terrain surrounds the Lancaster and Acton options. Cell service can be inconsistent throughout the region, with several reviews noting T-Mobile coverage gaps at Soledad Canyon. Most parks welcome pets but enforce leash rules and designated pet areas. Dump stations are available at nearly all locations, though Fairplex RV Park in Pomona receives criticism for extremely tight spacing that makes maneuvering difficult for larger rigs despite its big-rig friendly designation.

Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

    Hidden Gem

I loved this place, this hidden gem is located in the in the middle of the city, with the feel of the outdoor. Lots of trees, biking and hiking trails, fishing area, beautiful views, very peaceful, family friendly, pet friendly, the C9 RV spot was very spacious, I also liked the A & B area. Not every site has a fire pit. Definitely coming back again.

Mountain Lakes Resort - Membership Campground

    Great family friendly place

My wife and I have been coming up here for years. We used to use her parents fifth wheel or use a cabin but recently purchased our own travel trailer. Now we come up here with our kids and I can’t say enough about how family friendly it is.

    Bonita Ranch Campground

    Just ok overall

Needed somewhere fairly close to home to take my new to us motorhome. Sites were decent size but fairly close together so don’t expect a lot of privacy. Sites interspersed among long term residents. Hookups water and electric at each site. Some shade, trails to riverbed currently mostly dry and Bonita falls about 25 minute walk over river rock. Fire rings available to rent for $5. The biggest issue I had was our electric went out to our loop at about 7:30pm…luckily we are self contained…it still had not been restored when we left the next day at noonish. The lights to the office area and restrooms was still on (thankfully) but not the camp sites.

    Orangeland RV Park

    Location!

Stay here every year for dance competitions in Anaheim and Garden Grove. Very reasonable prices for the area. Anaheim transit makes on-demand stops her to Disneyland as well as Garden Walk. Very helpful, friendly staff. Many residents mixed with overnight era or vacationers.

    Pros:

    • The price for the area is worth it!
    • Amazing staff.
    • Free citrus picking!
    • Pool, mini golf on site.
    • Incredibly creak restrooms and showers.
    • Camp store.
    • On-demand public transport for $6/person for all-day access.
    • Walking distance to Big Ed and Honda Center.
    • Along Santa Ana River Trail path that connects beach to San Bernardino Mts.
    • Security at night.
    • Dog runs (kinda stinky, though)
    • Back-in and pull-thru sites (I’d try to stay closer to Struck and the western side)
    • Rules are there to keep things nice and safe.
    • Good wifi

    Cons:

    • Stinky dog runs
    • Street racing nearby at night. Every time.

    Tapo Canyon Park

Clean and quiet, except for the birds

This is a very nice campground near everything but still away from it all. No issues parking our 42' 5th wheel here. Clean and quiet despite the peacocks. They can be rather loud when startled. I swear they could hear my morning alarm and squawked their disapproval. The camp host Shawn is AMAZING! Bathrooms are very clean. Showers are coin operated. DO NOT expect cell service. I could only work from this spot by placing my mobile HomeFi router on top of the camper. Our Verizon phones were paper weights. Make sure your reservations are complete online before arriving. The Rangers check the spots multiple times a week. The kids enjoyed the playground and fields. It's not uncommon to see and hear movie/TV production crews at the filming locations along the road. Pet friendly but be careful at night. Mountain lions were spotted while there.

    Anaheim Harbor RV Park

    Do not trust them!

Camping for over 25 years- 140 nights a year and we have never experienced a campground as unprofessional, clueless and arrogant as this one. Their campsite math is completely unacceptable and when asked for ax explination we were treated like we should be happy they were allowing us to stay and it felt like they thought we could not afford to stay there. PLEASE BE CAREFUL AND UNDERSTAND THE BILL!!! Their site measurements are for your camping unit ONLY. If you have a tow vehicle or are towing a vehicle you must pay per night for a parking spot, whether it fits on the site or not. So, a 40X14ft standard site can accommodate a travel trailer of 20 feet or less BUT a motorhome of 40 ft or less. If your travel trailer is 21ft you MUST pay for a parking spot even if your total length is less than 40 ft. They neglected to tell us this information when we booked our site quoted$500 the weekly rate and we paid the deposit. We called to ask a question and they mentioned our total$740.61. We asked how we added$240 when the website stated$500. The woman could not explain the breakdown and could only tell us that we must pay for our truck to park and the website are not actual prices!! When we asked how we would have known this and she laughed and said you probably wouldn’t, you would have had to pay at arrival. WHAT, WHO HAS EVER HEARD OF THAT! With one story after another and no answers we called and told them we would be staying elsewhere because we needed to know the total! They canceled our site but kept our deposit despite their inability to understand and explain how they charge for a site. IMPORTANT THINGS TO KNOW– BECAUSE THEY WILL NOT TELL YOU! They just want to fill their campground! 1. If you are in anything other than a motorhome you will need to pay for your vehicle to park! 2. The 40ft RV length restriction includes the length of the hitch 3. Despite their sites being able to accommodate a 40ft rig their campground is extremely tight and sites may be very difficult to back in if longer than 35ft. 4. If you have a larger RV or slide-outs it is recommended you book Deluxe space or Deluxe space+ parking. 5. Standard sites may be too narrow to extend awning 6. There is no guarantee your vehicle will be parked next to or near your RV you are only paying for a spot. 7. Despite Disneyland being a family destination, their campsites are for 2 people only. You must pay for each additional person over 10 years old. 8. You must pay for your family pet. 9. You will need to pay for the pool key but should get it back. 10. Any standard site is a parking lot no grass. 11. Any time it says grass it is synthetic grass- AstroTurf 12. The very small strip of grass on a site has a fee attached. 13. Must be manufactured by a recognized maker or you must provide photos and copy of valid DMV Registration 14. You must have a 25ft sewage hose. 15. Tax is not included 7.75% CA Tax AND transient occupancy tax of 15%

    Rancho Jurupa RV Park

    Great place for Ontario

Came in for a convention in Ontario, better alternative than Fairplex park. Very spacious and good for big rigs. LOTS of activities for families (splash pad). Reservations online not too bad, only thing is it will says electricity only but I have had water hookup at all of my spots (changed spots cause i kept booking one night at a time and it was getting busy during Halloween time). Would visit again. 50⚡️ 💧👍. There’s a dump station, but a couple spots with dump but they were always booked. I will book ahead next time.

Summer temperatures frequently reach 90°F while winter nights regularly drop below freezing. Campers encounter significant day-to-night temperature swings year-round, with higher elevation sites experiencing 30-40 degree differences after sunset.

What to do

Hiking to waterfalls: Near Bonita Ranch Campground, a waterfall is accessible via a short trail. "The creek running behind the camp is great to explore, and a waterfall is a short hike away. "Perfect gateway for your adventures in the area," according to a reviewer who highlighted its strategic location, adding "Skypark is right across the street for mountain bikes. Lake Arrowhead is close for supplies or food."

What campers like

Privacy and space: The Keller Peak Yellow Post Sites offer exceptional seclusion. "There are only 9 sites stretched across 5 miles so you will have no neighbors. Each site is decent size and tucked away into the rocks," explains a regular visitor who appreciates the separation between campsites.

Clean facilities: Visitors frequently mention hygiene standards at Rancho Jurupa RV Park. According to a recent review, "Spaces are one of the cleanest I seen. Ranger is on constant patrol." Another noted, "Great park. It may not seem nice when you are passing through town to get in, but once you enter the gates it's beautiful."

Community atmosphere: Some RV parks foster social environments without sacrificing security. One visitor observed, "Neighbors were nice, cute set ups with twinkle lights and people enjoying outdoor fire pits. Campers were playing music, laughter echoes through camp ground but nothing too loud and all quiet later."

What you should know

Elevation affects weather: Higher elevation campgrounds near Valyermo experience significant temperature drops at night. A camper at Keller Peak noted, "Weather is definitely colder than in the valley, got snow overnight in mid May."

Site availability varies seasonally: Yellow post sites fill quickly during peak months. "They fill up fast May-Sept," warns a frequent visitor to Keller Peak, while summer occupancy at most established RV parks reaches maximum capacity Thursday through Sunday.

Fire restrictions change: Current regulations must be verified before arrival. A Keller Peak visitor advises, "There are fire rings but fires are not always permitted so be sure to check with the station just at the bottom of Keller Peak road."

Access challenges: Some campgrounds require navigating difficult terrain. A visitor to Californian RV Resort described it as "Gated park high on a hill; like driving the hills of SF with a trailer."

Tips for camping with families

"There is camping, horseback riding, fishing, trails, biking, hiking, picnics, you can use your jet skies in designated areas, swimming on the pool areas, kayaking, Park for kids and plenty more," reports a frequent visitor.

Entertainment options: Some campgrounds offer structured activities. Rancho Jurupa Park includes "a splash pad, park, mini golf great amenities," according to a family who stayed there with children. Another visitor mentioned "Beautiful views all around Sunrise, Sunset and Night sky. Sights of all kinds of birds like hawks and herons. Water park and mini golf for kids."

Security considerations: Family campers appreciate safety features. One Rancho Jurupa visitor noted, "Great sense of community and great placement of the gates for safety purposes," while mentioning constant ranger patrols as a positive feature for families with children.

Tips from RVers

Hookup variations: Electrical services differ between parks. An RVer staying at Antelope Valley Fairgrounds reported, "nice power hookups. 50 volt," though other visitors noted limited amenities beyond basic services.

Leveling requirements: Site terrain varies significantly. At Rancho Jurupa, one RVer observed, "Large concrete pads, easy backing in and hooking up. Lots of grass, great place to camp in groups."

Space constraints: Some parks have tight positioning. A visitor to Fairplex RV Park stated, "Although you are packed in pretty tightly like sardines it's a friendly environment very welcoming just the larger of your RV is little bit harder it might be to park."

Off-peak benefits: Visiting during weekdays offers advantages. "If you go off peak it is very nice and quiet," advised an RVer about Thousand Trails Soledad Canyon, suggesting Sunday through Wednesday visits for optimal spacing and amenity availability.
