Best RV Parks & Resorts near Oceanside, CA

Oceanside RV Resort and Paradise By The Sea RV Resort provide full hookup sites with 30/50 amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections. Both parks feature concrete pads suitable for larger motorhomes and travel trailers. Escondido RV Resort, located approximately 20 miles inland, offers 50-amp service and accommodates big rigs with pull-through sites. Olive Avenue RV Resort in Vista maintains paved surfaces with cement pads, though some visitors note significant sloping. "The sites are big and well spaced, with 30 amp electric. The water is off for the time being. The dump station is very close by and easy to access," according to one camper's experience at a nearby county park.

Several RV parks in the area provide amenities beyond basic hookups, including heated pools, hot tubs, and laundry facilities. Most resorts require reservations, particularly during peak summer months when occupancy rates are highest. Cell service varies by location, with stronger signals at coastal parks and potentially weaker coverage at inland locations. Pet policies differ between facilities, with designated dog areas available at Pechanga RV Resort and Oceanside RV Resort. Dump stations are accessible at most parks, though some may require staff assistance to unlock. Fiddlers Cove RV Park

Great RV Park - We love it!

Very clean and well maintained but rather small RV park collocated with a nice marina. This is a military installation so it’s not open to the public. This is our go to staycation place on San Diego bay. Close enough to Coronado but far enough to be secluded. 20/30/50 amp power, water, and cable TV connections on the pedestals. Most spaces are back-in, but some are pull-through. Pet friendly with disposal stations, and the park has a nice mini-mart.

    Lake Jennings

    Lake Jennings, A Peaceful Escape

We took our 28-foot travel trailer and two young kids (ages 5 & 8) for a long weekend at Lake Jennings Campground in Lakeside, CA — and it was a fantastic quick escape. Just 30 minutes east of San Diego. This hilltop park offers peaceful vibes, spacious sites, and family fun without the long drive. RV-Friendly Sites Our full-hookup pull-through site (30-amp) was easy to maneuver with plenty of space and privacy. Many sites have nice lake or city views (worth the small upgrade). Hookups worked great, and the clean restrooms/hot showers were a short walk away. Free Wi-Fi was a handy bonus. The shaded, covered playground was a huge hit, along with games like ladder golf, cornhole, and horseshoes. Short hiking trails start right from the campground with great lake overlooks. We rented a boat for fishing (no swimming — it’s a drinking water reservoir) and the kids loved spotting wildlife. Quiet hours were respected for good sleep. Friendly staff, well-maintained grounds, and a safe, gated feel made it relaxing. Pricing is reasonable Lake Jennings delivers scenic views, roomy RV sites, and kid-friendly activities in a convenient location. Perfect for families wanting a low-key getaway close to home. We’ll be back! Highly recommended for RV families

    Sweetwater Summit Regional Park

    Family Bonding Heaven

Our big family of eight had a wonderful four-night stay at Sweetwater Summit Regional Park Campground in Bonita with our 45ft travel trailer, and the North Loop provided a convenient base just 20-25 minutes from downtown San Diego. We secured one of the spacious premium pull-through sites. #63 which had full hookups (30/50 amp electric, water, and sewer) on a long paved pad that comfortably handled our large rig and gave everyone plenty of room to spread out with multiple vehicles and outdoor setups. The kids loved the playgrounds, seasonal splash pad, gentle family hiking trails with beautiful Sweetwater Reservoir views, plus picnicking, fishing opportunities, and open spaces for group games—making it an ideal spot for memorable family bonding with modern amenities right at hand.Book early (as early as a year in advance) as the North Loop fills quickly, especially the premium spots.

Paradise By The Sea RV Resort

    Amazing RV Resort Near Beach

A nicely appointed RV resort in downtown Oceanside with an awesome staff. Pull-through and back-in, full hookup spots available. Cable, wi-fi, a clubhouse with TV and PlayStation for the kids, pool table, games to check out, and a small swimming pool and hot tub. There are also outdoor community areas with ping-pong, bean-bag toss, grills, and other activities.

The resort is only a 5- minute walk to the beach and not far from Oceanside restaurants and shops. While it’s a tad spendy, you really do get a lot for your money with a great near beach location.

    Pechanga RV Resort

This Is A Resort With All Amenities

I spent a few nights using my Passport America discount at Pechanga RV Resort. I really liked it there. This is now one of my favorite RV resorts in California except for the showers. It is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that The park itself is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that is fenced in with gazebo, and picnic tables. First of all, it is part of the Casino with entertainment and restaurants. This casino reminds me of the Vegas casinos and now is under construction to make it a real Vegas Style Resort. It’s going to be finished sometimes in 2017.

The RV resort itself has a nice heated pool, Jacuzzi, ping pong table. They also have a golf club which could be important for some. One thing I hated is the showers. The RV resort shower has a timer set to 25 seconds and the showerhead is not able to stand upright. So you basically have to hold the shower in one hand and keep pressing the timer every 25 seconds. It’s December, it’s cold in the shower, especially because the water keeps shutting off. You end up standing soaking wet putting soap on yourself in the cold.

I wonder if the hotel rooms have timer on the showers as well. The person who came up with this idea should take showers in there each night. It pet-friendly resort, they also have an area for dogs. If you heading to the casino, they have a shuttle service 24/7 which picks ups from and drop-offs to and from your space. You have to call a number and they are there to pick you up in minutes.

About the WiFi! It’s the best WiFi ever in any parks I’ve so far visited! I wasn’t even close to the main building and had a great reception. I am able to use my Roku to watch Netflix and can use my laptop as well for work. I didn’t even need my Sprint or Verizon, but both work fine. Across the street, there is a 2-mile bike/walk trail. Using this and riding around the nice neighborhoods it was a fun way to get some exercise.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Great place by the beach

Your not on the beach but literally on the other side of pacific coast highway you are there. They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups. They have a great pool, maintained laundry rooms bathrooms and showers separated by men and woman for that privacy you need. Overall an incredible rv park and very impressed by it being well kept and clean. Not to mention close to the beach

Guide to Oceanside

RV campgrounds near Oceanside, California range from coastal luxury resorts to inland destinations within 25 miles of the Pacific Ocean. The Mediterranean climate offers year-round camping with average daily temperatures between 60-78°F, though inland locations can experience greater temperature fluctuations. Summer brings consistent coastal fog patterns that typically burn off by mid-morning.

What to do

Beach access opportunities: Oceanside RV Resort provides tent camping spots directly on the beach. "We camped here on a trip up the coast and found this spot at the end of the day. There are 5 spots where you can walk your stuff and camp right on the beach. Each spot was secluded and had a picnic table and a good size area for your tent," notes Alicia F.

Nearby attractions exploration: Paradise By The Sea RV Resort offers convenient access to local activities. "The resort is only a 5-minute walk to the beach and not far from Oceanside restaurants and shops. While it's a tad spendy, you really do get a lot for your money with a great near beach location," according to Brian C.

Fishing opportunities: Lilac Oaks Campground maintains catch-and-release fishing options. "We stayed here next to the lake for a few days and just loved it. The spot we moved into is huge, covered by trees, plenty of parking and so quiet," explains Julie I., who found the park manager particularly helpful.

What campers like

Pool and recreation facilities: Pala Casino RV Resort offers heated pool options. "Pool hours kinda suck because they close at 5pm on weekdays but great heated pool and two hot tubs. 10 out of 10 recommend checking this place out. The spots are very big as well," writes Ryan K.

Shuttle services: Pechanga RV Resort provides transportation to nearby attractions. "If you heading to the casino, they have a shuttle service 24/7 which picks ups from and drop-offs to and from your space. You have to call a number and they are there to pick you up in minutes," according to one visitor.

Cleanliness standards: Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay maintains well-kept grounds and facilities. "Nice staff, clean facilities and sites. Easy access… was able to get propane. Unfortunately I'm hearing they are closing this site in October. I hear they have a site not too far from here," notes Patrick B.

What you should know

Site sloping issues: Olive Avenue RV Resort has drainage-related terrain challenges. "The site we requested was never available according to the staff. The park is basically new and well laid out for the size lot available. Paved surfaces and well maintained landscaping. We had a pull through site with full hook ups; it was on a cement pad that was nice, but the city made them slope all the pads for water drainage … a huge amount!"

Train proximity: Several coastal RV parks have railroad tracks nearby. "There is a rail right behind the tent sites so if you are looking for the tent sites with quiet location: PLEASE STAY AWAY from here. The trains do not operate from around 10 pm, back on operating starting from 5 am," advises one camper about Oceanside RV Resort.

Weather considerations: Escondido RV Resort maintains functional services during extreme weather. "Despite facing challenging weather conditions with heavy rain and hail from an atmospheric river, everything continued to function seamlessly - from the electric hookups to the water supply. The drainage system at Escondido RV Resort was impeccable, preventing any issues with mudslides even in such extreme weather."

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Pechanga RV Resort offers designated children's areas. "Clean campground, lots of amenities!" notes one reviewer, with other visitors mentioning proximity to attractions like wineries for adults and recreational facilities for children.

Entertainment options: Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay provides diverse activities for different age groups. "Splash pad for the little ones, bar for the bigger ones, activities poolside and HUGE TV! Food service as well. Adjacent areas has a nice gym that opens to pool area, game room with pool table, scuffle board and poker tables. An arcade for the kids."

Space considerations: Paradise By The Sea RV Resort sites have limited room between units. "The spots are a little tight. But, the place is nice and the staff are really friendly," cautions one visitor, suggesting families request spots farther from common areas for better privacy.

Tips from RVers

Dump station access: Escondido RV Resort offers dump services even for non-guests. "We needed a dump station and they let us come and dump for a reasonable cost. Easy and super nice. Thank you!" reports Victoria B., highlighting the helpful staff.

Propane availability: Several resorts offer on-site propane refill options. "Fill propano available on site. Staff is kind and professional. Full hookups sites," notes a camper at Sun Outdoors San Diego Bay, while others mention Pala Casino RV Resort maintains similar services.

RV age restrictions: Some resorts enforce vehicle age policies. "Beautiful RV resort with short drives to the beach, San Diego, and casinos. Full hook ups, pool, dog walk. Little pricey and has RV age restrictions but I sent pics and was allowed even though I was outside the age," explains Paul N. about Escondido RV Resort.
