Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

    Pechanga RV Resort

This Is A Resort With All Amenities

I spent a few nights using my Passport America discount at Pechanga RV Resort. I really liked it there. This is now one of my favorite RV resorts in California except for the showers. It is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that The park itself is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that is fenced in with gazebo, and picnic tables. First of all, it is part of the Casino with entertainment and restaurants. This casino reminds me of the Vegas casinos and now is under construction to make it a real Vegas Style Resort. It’s going to be finished sometimes in 2017.

The RV resort itself has a nice heated pool, Jacuzzi, ping pong table. They also have a golf club which could be important for some. One thing I hated is the showers. The RV resort shower has a timer set to 25 seconds and the showerhead is not able to stand upright. So you basically have to hold the shower in one hand and keep pressing the timer every 25 seconds. It’s December, it’s cold in the shower, especially because the water keeps shutting off. You end up standing soaking wet putting soap on yourself in the cold.

I wonder if the hotel rooms have timer on the showers as well. The person who came up with this idea should take showers in there each night. It pet-friendly resort, they also have an area for dogs. If you heading to the casino, they have a shuttle service 24/7 which picks ups from and drop-offs to and from your space. You have to call a number and they are there to pick you up in minutes.

About the WiFi! It’s the best WiFi ever in any parks I’ve so far visited! I wasn’t even close to the main building and had a great reception. I am able to use my Roku to watch Netflix and can use my laptop as well for work. I didn’t even need my Sprint or Verizon, but both work fine. Across the street, there is a 2-mile bike/walk trail. Using this and riding around the nice neighborhoods it was a fun way to get some exercise.

    Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground

    Bolsa Chica State Beach

The 4 stars is primarily for location. This is essentially a parking lot with power and water. We had a beach front space (B035) with a decent sized palm tree. The only one I really saw. The spaces aren’t huge so if you have a big rig or large trailer it will be tight. Most trailers parked their tow vehicle perpendicular to the space and some barely fit. There is no privacy, the small concrete area is shared with your neighbors as is the entrance to the beach side. People watching at the boardwalk is amazing. There is live music at the beach bars nearby which was cool. Definitely bring bike. There isn’t a lot within walking distance but downtown Huntington Beach and the pier is just a couple miles away.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Great place by the beach

Your not on the beach but literally on the other side of pacific coast highway you are there. They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups. They have a great pool, maintained laundry rooms bathrooms and showers separated by men and woman for that privacy you need. Overall an incredible rv park and very impressed by it being well kept and clean. Not to mention close to the beach

Mountain Lakes Resort - Membership Campground

    Great family friendly place

My wife and I have been coming up here for years. We used to use her parents fifth wheel or use a cabin but recently purchased our own travel trailer. Now we come up here with our kids and I can’t say enough about how family friendly it is.

    Pineknot

Pineknot Campground, Big Bear Lake, Ca

A bit challenging to locate via Google Maps... Just go up (south) Summit Blvd, when you get to the parking lot of the ski resort, veer towards the left, and just past a concrete wall, you'll see the little Pineknot Campground sign attached to an aluminium pole. The campground is very cozy, countless tall pine trees, clean bathrooms, clean sites, water from taps, no hookups, and not for big rigs. The hosts are friendly, but strict! No generators from 8 pm to 8 am, a $3000 fine if your campfire is left unattended, and no rowdy obnoxious behavior is tolerated! We appreciated the rules, and thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful, quiet, deep in the woods getaway!!

    Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park

One of the Best County Parks you will find

This is a great park in Southern Orange County. I have tent camped here for years with my kids in the Live Oak campground and never had a bad experience. There are hiking trails everywhere with lots of wildlife to watch. I switched to a travel trailer several years ago and now use Ortega Flats campground. The sites are big and well spaced, with 30 amp electric. The water is off for the time being. The dump station is very close by and easy to access.

Guide to Riverside

The San Bernardino Mountains surrounding Riverside provide camping options at elevations from 1,000 to over 6,000 feet, creating significant temperature variations between sites. Summer temperatures at lower elevation RV parks near Riverside often reach 100°F, while mountain campgrounds remain 15-20 degrees cooler. Seasonal closures affect mountain campgrounds from November through April due to snow conditions.

What to do

Hiking to waterfalls: Bonita Ranch Campground offers easy access to Bonita Falls via a short trail. "The creek running behind the camp is great to explore, and a waterfall is a short hike away. We also lucked out finding berries in August," notes Jonathan G.

Family water activities: Launch Pointe Recreation Destination and RV Park features a splash pad, swimming pool, and lake access. "Amenities are very good for young kids. Canopy Court area has easy and close access to the splash pad, the playground, a large grass area, and even the pool," explains Bryan H.

Mountain biking: The trails around Skypark Camp RV Resort connect directly to mountain biking routes. "Skypark is right across the street for mountain bikes. Lake Arrowhead is close for supplies or food," states Bryan S.

What campers like

Secure camping environments: Rancho Jurupa RV Park maintains controlled access points. "Great sense of community and great placement of the gates for safety purposes. Lots of food spots within 10 minutes. Spaces are one of the cleanest I seen. Ranger is on constant patrol," remarks Troy A.

Urban proximity with natural settings: Canyon RV Park balances accessibility with nature. "Been passing this exit on the 91 freeway for 25 years and had no idea canyon RV park was tucked in between corona and yorba linda. I was quite amazed with the tidy facilities and was very peaceful. When you are smack dab in the middle of asphalt jungle," notes Matt K.

Fishing opportunities: Several rv parks near Riverside offer fishing options. "Beautiful views all around Sunrise, Sunset and Night sky. Sights of all kinds of birds like hawks and herons. Water park and mini golf for kids. Showers and laundry convenient," describes Xochiquetzal G. about Rancho Jurupa Park.

What you should know

Mountain road challenges: Access to mountain campgrounds requires navigating steep, winding roads. "It's a bit of a drive but very scenic and should be doable in any car," says Jillian about Keller Peak Yellow Post Campsites.

Seasonal water concerns: Lake conditions vary significantly. "The lake was closed due to algae bloom. They have a great area of vintage trailers that can be rented, as well as some super nice yurts," reports Kellie about Launch Pointe Recreation Destination.

Quiet hour enforcement: RV parks near Riverside strictly maintain quiet hours. "The only bad part is they strictly enforce quiet time at 10pm. I felt like a kid being told to go to bed. I feel like on weekends people should be able to stay up late in front of their camper with low voices," shares Marcella D.

Tips for camping with families

Group camping considerations: Family groups require careful site selection. "Took Girl Scouts here for group camping. Rocky and sand. The family camping was fine! Girls used Porta Potties. I'm hoping they have finished construction on something better since then. However, there are some great kid friendly activities," advises Janet S. about Rancho Jurupa Park.

Kid-friendly amenities: Golden Village Palms RV Resort offers multiple recreational options. "Our kids love the pool area, grandparents love the pickleball courts, and there are always fun activities to do throughout the year. Full-timers are friendly and inclusive of newcomers and passer-throughs," explains Jason M.

Weekend planning: Riverside area campgrounds fill quickly Friday through Sunday. "Second time here and we're enjoying it. It's hot but a fire haze has blocked the sun a bit also the water pad is so fun even for grown ups," notes Sara H.

Tips from RVers

Electrical capacity limitations: Thousand Trails Wilderness Lakes RV Resort has specific power considerations. "They don't have enough 50amp sites and not all of them are always working. This park is first come / first served and they don't prohibit a 30amp rig from taking a 50amp site, so you can see the problem," explains David N.

Site leveling requirements: Prepare for uneven ground at some locations. "The sites were all uneven. Every camper we saw had to do major leveling efforts," reports Brian C.

Wi-Fi constraints: Internet access varies significantly. "Internet was great but it had bandwidth restraints that would turn your internet off after very small amounts of data used. There was no option to upgrade so you had to use your own hotspots," notes Brian C. about Launch Pointe.
