CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

RV parks near Lawndale provide full-service options within driving distance of Los Angeles beaches and attractions. Newport Dunes RV Resort in Newport Beach features 372 sites with 30/50-amp electrical hookups, water, sewer connections, and cable TV. Malibu Beach RV Park offers ocean view sites with electric, water, and sewer hookups, though sites accommodate travel trailers under 20 feet unless booking deluxe spaces. Anaheim Harbor RV Park provides full hookups with 50-amp service near Disneyland, while Dockweiler Beach RV Park in Playa Del Rey offers beachfront RV camping with full hookups. "The RV sites are pretty close together but the full hookups makes it really nice. Sites are easy to navigate and pull into, especially for a first timer," noted one visitor about LA RV Resort.

Advance reservations are essential for these popular coastal RV parks, particularly during summer months and holiday weekends. Most parks require payment for additional vehicles beyond the RV itself, with standard sites typically accommodating two people with fees for additional guests. Pull-through sites are limited and generally command premium rates. Many parks charge separate fees for pets, pool access, and premium locations with views or extra space. Cell service varies significantly between locations, with inland parks often having stronger connectivity than beachfront options. According to one visitor at Anaheim Harbor RV Park, "If you have a larger RV or slide-outs it is recommended you book Deluxe space or Deluxe space+ parking. Standard sites may be too narrow to extend awning." Dump stations are available at most parks, though some charge additional fees for this service.

Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

    Bonelli Bluffs

    Hidden Gem

I loved this place, this hidden gem is located in the in the middle of the city, with the feel of the outdoor. Lots of trees, biking and hiking trails, fishing area, beautiful views, very peaceful, family friendly, pet friendly, the C9 RV spot was very spacious, I also liked the A & B area. Not every site has a fire pit. Definitely coming back again.

    Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground

    Bolsa Chica State Beach

The 4 stars is primarily for location. This is essentially a parking lot with power and water. We had a beach front space (B035) with a decent sized palm tree. The only one I really saw. The spaces aren’t huge so if you have a big rig or large trailer it will be tight. Most trailers parked their tow vehicle perpendicular to the space and some barely fit. There is no privacy, the small concrete area is shared with your neighbors as is the entrance to the beach side. People watching at the boardwalk is amazing. There is live music at the beach bars nearby which was cool. Definitely bring bike. There isn’t a lot within walking distance but downtown Huntington Beach and the pier is just a couple miles away.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Great place by the beach

Your not on the beach but literally on the other side of pacific coast highway you are there. They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups. They have a great pool, maintained laundry rooms bathrooms and showers separated by men and woman for that privacy you need. Overall an incredible rv park and very impressed by it being well kept and clean. Not to mention close to the beach

Thornhill Broome Beach — Point Mugu State Park

    Beach camping on PCH!

Spent 3 nights here and absolutely loved it. Campground has trash, porta-potties, and appeared to have potable spigots but didn't confirm. Verizon service was hit or miss, but with a booster it was usable. Nice fire rings and picnic tables. Only downside was highway noise, but the surf drowned out all but big-rigs. Saw dolphins and seals back to back days! We're so glad we went, and if we pass by again we will be staying for sure!

    Orangeland RV Park

    Location!

Stay here every year for dance competitions in Anaheim and Garden Grove. Very reasonable prices for the area. Anaheim transit makes on-demand stops her to Disneyland as well as Garden Walk. Very helpful, friendly staff. Many residents mixed with overnight era or vacationers.

    Pros:

    • The price for the area is worth it!
    • Amazing staff.
    • Free citrus picking!
    • Pool, mini golf on site.
    • Incredibly creak restrooms and showers.
    • Camp store.
    • On-demand public transport for $6/person for all-day access.
    • Walking distance to Big Ed and Honda Center.
    • Along Santa Ana River Trail path that connects beach to San Bernardino Mts.
    • Security at night.
    • Dog runs (kinda stinky, though)
    • Back-in and pull-thru sites (I’d try to stay closer to Struck and the western side)
    • Rules are there to keep things nice and safe.
    • Good wifi

    Cons:

    • Stinky dog runs
    • Street racing nearby at night. Every time.

    O'Neill Regional Park

Great Tucked Away Spot in Orange County

    SITE:

This site is great if you like hiking, biking, MTB, and running. It is very clean, and the showers are free and clean as well. It's tucked back in the canyon, but you will still hear all the traffic from the road. Since it is a canyon, many loud cars and motorcycles zoom past at high speeds.

    Free dump station.

    SURROUNDING AREA

There aren't too many shops in close proximity, but there are shops down the road a few minutes away if you need supplies.

    ACTIVITIES

The campground is located next to Oneil Park, which is huge and great for bike and running. There are many hiking trails nearby in all directions. I usually ride to Caspers from the campsite or Trabruco creak up to Holy Jim.

    Lake Piru Recreation Area

    Lovely get away

Close to town but no cell signal, this place is amazing! Large camping area and I’ve never felt crowded ! Quarter showers and laundry, and a dog park! Lots of deer in the area and Great Lake to fish at! They also offer some hook ups for the rv campers

Guide to Lawndale

Urban RV camping near Lawndale, California offers convenient access to Los Angeles attractions with varying levels of amenities. Most RV parks in this area are situated within 20-30 miles of downtown Lawndale, in neighboring coastal communities that provide paved sites with urban conveniences. The Mediterranean climate creates ideal year-round camping conditions with average temperatures ranging from 65-85°F during summer and 50-65°F during winter months.

What to do

Beach access options: Dockweiler Beach RV Park provides direct beachfront camping with full hookups. "We parked right by the Pacific Ocean, watched planes from LAX fly overhead, and soaked in a stunning sunset. It was the ideal place to settle into our campervan life," shares one camper who appreciated the location despite airport proximity.

Kayaking opportunities: Several miles south in Seal Beach, military members can enjoy water activities at Seabreeze At Seal Beach. "This one is to die for when it comes to kayaking," notes an enthusiast. The wetlands on the base attract diverse birdlife, creating excellent nature viewing opportunities. "Wetlands on the base and birds galore," adds another visitor.

Biking paths: Many rv parks near Lawndale connect to extensive coastal biking trails. "There's a bike path a few feet away from the camp sites," mentions a Dockweiler Beach visitor, while another notes it's "right off a very nice coastal 20+ mile walking/biking path." These paths provide car-free transportation between beaches and attractions.

What campers like

Security features: Golden Shore RV Resort in Long Beach emphasizes safety with gated access. "Really appreciated that this RV park was gated. Felt safe and secure the whole time I was here," notes one visitor. Another adds, "Security is very good and felt very safe, especially considering the location."

Pool amenities: Malibu Beach RV Park offers ocean views and on-site facilities. "Heated pool as well as a hot tub. The grounds are very well kept and grocery stores within 10 min," states a family visitor. Many parks maintain year-round heated pools with additional recreation areas for guests.

Proximity to attractions: Camping options around Lawndale position visitors strategically between beaches and urban attractions. "Easy 15 min drive to Disney plus the ART bus picks up straight from the campground," notes a visitor at Orangeland RV Park, highlighting the transportation convenience that many parks provide for those wanting to explore without moving their RV.

What you should know

Campsite spacing: Urban RV parks typically maximize limited space with compact sites. At Hollywood RV Park, "This isn't a self-park park...the spaces are so close together that they use a cart to park you," explains one visitor, though they appreciated that "the park was landscaped such that you had some privacy."

Noise considerations: Airport, highway and urban noise affect many locations. "You will hear each and every of the planes taking off from LAX, but at one point you don't hear them anymore," reports a Dockweiler Beach visitor. Noise from street racing is also mentioned at some parks, with one Orangeland guest noting, "Street racing nearby at night. Every time."

Reservation planning: Many parks are mixed-use with both short-term and long-term residents. "Many residents mixed with overnighters or vacationers," notes an Orangeland visitor. This affects availability, especially during peak seasons, requiring advance planning.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Orangeland RV Park offers multiple attractions for children. "A covered play area, helpful staff, heated pool as well as a hot tub," notes a family visitor. The park also allows orange picking, adding a unique activity for children.

Security access codes: Many facilities require codes for bathrooms and amenities. "The bathrooms have a lock and code needed for entry," mentions a Malibu Beach RV visitor, information parents should share with older children to ensure they can access facilities independently.

Public transportation options: Several parks offer dedicated transport services to major attractions. "On-demand public transport for $6/person for all-day access," notes an Orangeland visitor, making it easier for families to avoid parking difficulties at popular destinations.

Tips from RVers

Size restrictions: Waterfront RV Park in Huntington Beach accommodates various RV sizes. "They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups," explains a visitor who appreciated the flexibility for different camping setups.

Utilities planning: Unexpected utility disruptions occur at urban parks. One visitor reported going "without water until 5:00pm" for multiple days during repairs, suggesting RVers should maintain water reserves and prepare for occasional service interruptions.

Cell service: Most urban RV parks near Lawndale offer strong cell connectivity for all major providers, though quality varies by specific location. Unlike more remote campgrounds, these urban locations generally provide reliable service for those needing to stay connected.
