Several RV parks near Lathrop provide full hookup capabilities for motorhomes and travel trailers. Flag City RV Resort in Lodi features 180 sites with 50-amp electric, water, and sewer connections on level pads. Kit Fox RV Park in Patterson accommodates big rigs with full hookups and pull-through sites. At French Camp RV Park and Golf Course, RV sites include picnic tables, trash service, and both water and sewer connections, while Sugar Barge RV Resort on Bethel Island offers waterfront sites with 30-amp service and marina access. "Some sites are pretty close together. We have a nice site right now, but decided to park the truck at a nearby on-site lot due to the size of this space."

Most RV parks in the region require reservations, particularly during summer months when Delta waterways attract boaters and anglers. Access roads to several parks can present challenges—Rio Viento RV Park visitors note "the road in is very bumpy, so take your time." Cell service varies significantly between locations, with Sugar Barge reporting poor WiFi and cell reception even near the office. Dump stations are available at most parks, though Thousand Trails Turtle Beach has drawn mixed reviews about their hookup reliability. Pet policies differ between facilities, with Flag City offering a particularly large fenced dog area that allows off-leash exercise. Many parks in the area accommodate extended stays, with French Camp RV Park hosting numerous full-time residents in a well-maintained setting.

      Acorn Campground

      Extended stays

A good clean campground, popular in central California. Reasonably priced $20 per night. They do accept golden age passes which reduces your nightly expense to $10 per night maximum 15 days for the month. Geared mostly for small trailers and tents, however, they do have some sites for larger RVs drive-through 40 foot max and roadside, slide outs might cause a problem. Park managers are very professional, courteous and pleasant. Bathrooms are a problem for cleanliness dump station is available for RVs. If you have a portable black tank, it would work out better for you on extended stays when dumping your black tank. If you are self-contained, you won’t have any difficulties at all.

      Anthony Chabot Regional Park

      Beautiful!

This campground is beautiful and at 50% of normal capacity even better! The campground is set among a grove of eucalyptus trees that offer shade, which would be really nice during summer, and a calming aroma.

There are dry and full hook up sites.

      $35 for dry

      $45 for hook ups

      $8 reservation fee

$2 fee per day for each dog which is not stated when making reservations, you  are expected to pay when you arrive.

We have 3 dogs and the ranger came by and mentioned the fee though he never made us pay it. Also they do not allow visitors at this time due to Covid, campers only. There was some type of maintenance going on which had trucks frequently driving up and down the road but overall quiet. Strict rule of no check in prior to 2pm, but there is a day use area nearby to park in and hike around if you arrive early. The road up to the campground is winding with a lot of cyclists. Cell service was spotty on the way up and weak at campground but usable with our WeBoost. The road in the campground is narrow with tight turns into the sites so if you have a big rig be aware.

      Other amenities:

      Recycling and garbage

      Bathrooms and showers

Tons of hiking and biking trails

Water and dump station available for dry campers

Fire pit, firewood for sale at kiosk for $10/bundle

      Picnic tables

      30 amp only

      Paved parking pad, mostly level

      Overall would definitely come again!

Sugar Barge RV Resort & Marina

      Quiet, NO other tenters!

We (party of 4) were there primarily because we rented a boat from their Marina. That went well! This is an RV campground & full-complement resort on Bethel Island, San Joaquin River Delta. Many RVers appear to be long-term or full-time residents.

The tent-area was a clearing, fully backed up to the levee, with some shade and a water spigot. Appears to be only 4 “sites,” which are defined by picnic tables, GENEROUSLY spaced, no fire rings AND the Delta is h.o.t.! It’s also on the far edge of the property, so car traffic was MINIMUM — and NO generators were heard, even though the RV section is huge!!!

The rest rooms were in the Marina building, a short walk. We would DEFINITELY return for boating and tenting!!!

      Kit Fox RV Park

      Nice camp between stops

I stayed here for one night in a 22’ RV at one of the back-in sites for the shorter term stays on a drive from Death Valley back towards the San Francisco Bay area. I believe the office is currently closed due to Covid, but they have a box of maps and envelopes plus a drop box for payment right outside the office.

It looks like most of the spots here are for pretty long term stays. There was plenty for space for short term, overnight campers. Spot comes with WiFi code, but there’s plenty of cell service too. You’re close to the I5 and can hear the soft lull of some traffic, but it’s still fairly quiet.

      Sandy Beach County Park

Small yet spacious campground with views of the Sacramento river

Camped 4 nights at site 32 during the week.  A nice shaded site with river view, but not very level.  All sites are pull throughs with electric, water, a stationary picnic table and fire ring.  Online reservations are required and must be made a minimum of 2-weeks in advance.  Campground was nearly empty and had big grassy areas between sites.  Senior rate of $20.  Flush toilets and showers were spartan but cleaned daily.  Campground is adjacent to public beach, boat ramp/dock, and picnic area.  As expected it was very windy most of the time so you need to stake everything down.  Wind was strong enough to knock over our wine glass, twice!  We could hear humming from wind turbines that were just over the hill from the campground, but otherwise quiet.

      Tuttletown Recreation Area

      Nice Area When Empty

Sites are packed in tight. Def geared for tent camping although I was lucky enough to be here when it was dead empty and picked a good site for my 27’ toy hauler. Fire pits and picnic tables at every site. No idea where the water is at but didn’t really look. There is a nice dump station ($8 fee recommended.. pay station is at park entrance). Lots of deer and raccoons. Gas station with firewood not too far away (Lakeridge Inn Gas), and they have diesel. Boat launch and day use area only a short drive away. Just would not want to be here if it was busy.

      Lake Amador Resort

      Beautiful in the Spring

We enjoyed our first visit and will definitely come back! The park is a mix of old RV’s that folks have long term stays and open spots for visitors. Some nice spots and some tight spots. We stayed in site 62 with 41 foot MH. There was no room for a tow vehicle and we did not put our awnings out. We enjoyed fishing from the bank and had some good luck with power bait. The resort is very clean and quiet!

      Flag City RV Resort

      Well Run Campground

We stayed here in January 2024 and got a Passport America discount. Traveling south on US-101, then US-12 east, our RV GPS took us right to this campground(CG). Check-in was quick and easy, and we proceeded unescorted to pull through site 32 with FHUs. The cement pad was plenty long enough for our 40’ fifth wheel and unhooked F450. The utilities are on the back quarter of the pad. We needed 15’ of sewer hose. The water pressure was okay at about 40 psi. We got 4 bars on Verizon. They have Wifi and you can upgrade for a price to streaming quality. The CG has a small convenience store that sells ice and propane plus wine. This CG is mainly a short-term stay place but there are what seem to be permanent parties plus transient workers with site areas clean and organized. There are a lot of feral cats in this CG. They have a huge fenced dog area in the drainage bowl behind the office that also has solar panels on the outskirts. We did not use the area due to the recent rain. We wished we’d spent a few more days to explore the area, especially the wineries.

    Guide to Lathrop

Many RV parks near Lathrop, California sit along the Sacramento-San Joaquin River Delta waterways, where summer temperatures routinely exceed 90°F between June and September. The flat terrain surrounding Lathrop ranges from 20-23 feet above sea level, with most campgrounds positioned along waterways for fishing and boating access. Winter camping offers mild temperatures in the 50-60°F range with occasional fog.

    What to do

Fishing at the Delta: Windmill Cove RV Park provides direct access to Delta fishing, with a waterfront location 15 minutes from Lathrop. "The beach to play and swim is about a 10min walk from your camper. But you will more than likely come across some great people that will have you hop on their golf carts and give you a lift," notes one camper.

Golf courses: French Camp RV Park and Golf Course combines camping with golfing access just 5 miles from Lathrop. "Nice place to stay. Was passing thru from south California. Very clean. Staff was pleasant to work with at check in," reports a visitor who enjoyed the proximity to golfing.

Wine tasting: Several Lodi wineries lie within 20 minutes of Lathrop area RV parks. "We wished we'd spent a few more days to explore the area, especially the wineries," notes a camper at Flag City RV Resort, which sells local wines in their small convenience store.

    What campers like

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention cleanliness as a standout feature at Thousand Trails Turtle Beach. "Stayed on large grass site next to the water. Very nice. Few amenities and staff was scarce but more than adequate. Lots of room to roam for people & pets," shares one reviewer who appreciated the spacious sites.

Large pet areas: Several campgrounds accommodate pets with designated areas. "AND HUGE fenced area to walk your dog OFF LEASH," notes an enthusiastic Flag City visitor about their pet facilities, adding "I'd give this place 6 stars if I could!"

Waterfront sites: Proximity to water draws many campers to Delta RV parks. Duck Island RV Park offers "Large open view to Sacramento River," according to one visitor who found it "one of the best for the money campground."

    What you should know

Road conditions: Several campgrounds warn about access road issues. "The road in is very bumpy, so take your time," cautions a Rio Viento RV Park visitor, while another noted, "The only issue I had which has nothing to do with the park is the road leading into the park is extremely [rough]."

Connectivity challenges: Prepare for limited internet access at many Delta campgrounds. "Wifi and cell reception is really poor, even when you're right outside the office," reports a Sugar Barge visitor, while another campground reports "They have Wifi and you can upgrade for a price to streaming quality."

Reservation requirements: Summer weekends fill quickly at waterfront campgrounds. "Gets really busy weekends and holidays," warns a Duck Island RV Park reviewer, making advance reservations essential during peak season from May through September.

    Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly swimming: Some campgrounds offer direct water access for swimming. "Although we did have a water view space, the actual spot was very tight and small," notes a Windmill Cove visitor, adding that the swimming beach requires a short walk from camping areas.

Pool access: Several RV parks near Lathrop feature swimming pools for family use. "Comfortable and easy in and out facility. Restroom and showers are well kept. Store and check in area very nice," notes a Flag City RV Resort visitor about their pool and facilities.

Fishing ponds: Monument RV Park offers easier fishing for children compared to river access. "There is a fishing pond directly next to the campground and access to the lake just a few minutes away," explains a visitor who appreciated the multiple fishing options.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup positioning: Check hookup location before setting up. "The utilities are on the back quarter of the pad. We needed 15' of sewer hose," notes a Flag City RV Resort camper, while at Monument RV Park "the sewer hookup is elevated so you will probably want sewer hose supports to lift your hose."

Site spacing considerations: RV parks vary significantly in site spacing. "Some sites are pretty close together," mentions a Rio Viento visitor, while Kit Fox RV Park provides "sites level, The Park staff are helpful" and reasonable space between units.

Wind preparation: Delta areas experience significant wind. "It can get really windy though," warns a Duck Island RV Park resident, suggesting RVers secure awnings and outdoor items during their stay.
