Dockweiler Beach RV Park's waterfront location provides direct beach access for dog owners with hookups for RVs and space for tents. Most pet-friendly campgrounds near Huntington Park maintain standard leash requirements, with Golden Shore RV Resort in Long Beach and Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground offering additional pet amenities. Mount Lowe Trail Campground provides a free primitive camping option for hikers with dogs, while Anaheim Harbor RV Park and Rosemead's private RV spot accommodate pets closer to urban attractions. Pet owners note that spaces at beachfront locations like Dockweiler can be tightly packed but provide unmatched ocean access for dog walking along extensive coastal paths.

Angeles Crest Overlook's dispersed camping area permits pets in a more remote setting with views of Los Angeles. Dog owners should be aware that summer temperatures can make beach camping uncomfortable for pets without adequate shade. Malibu Creek State Park Campground features pet-friendly trails connecting to broader hiking networks while maintaining pet waste stations throughout the grounds. The extensive bike path along Dockweiler Beach extends miles in both directions, providing excellent morning exercise opportunities for campers with active dogs. Pet owners visiting established campgrounds should verify specific pet policies when making reservations, as some locations limit the number of pets or charge additional fees. Beachfront camping sites can get noisy with airport proximity, but the ocean access and fire rings on the beach make it worthwhile for dog owners seeking coastal camping experiences.

      Waterfront RV Park

      Waterfront RV Park, CA

Located in Huntington Beach California. This site is right across the street from the beach. Be careful and aware when staying here. My husband and I had our mountain bikes stolen when sleeping. When we asked for camera footage the owners of the campground claimed the cameras were broken and they couldn’t share the footage. There are many homeless folks living in the area. The showers don’t get hot, but the area is clean. There is a pool and a hot tub and a small dog park. It’s expensive to stay here, but a beautiful spot.

      Hollywood RV Park

      Themed Park!

First of all, staff was amazing. We were originally supposed to arrive on a Tuesday and we’re not able to make it. Staff shifted our reservation instead of us eating the missed night cost. Also super accommodating allowing us to extend a day longer last minute. Park is tight quarters with 200 spots. Two laundry rooms/bathrooms with showers on site, plus a cute little dog park! We stayed for three nights. Every “road” in the park is themed with California or Hollywood themed decorations and murals. We were parked right next to a Mister Roger’s mural across from the laundry/bathrooms. My only complaint in the noise level at times which is not from the park itself. Helicopters would fly over randomly, sometimes at night and it could be annoying when trying to sleep. Otherwise, absolute GEM of a place!

      Hare School Park

It’s the sports fields parking lot

I’ve been here for a couple days and nobody’s mess with us. There’s other people that are staying in another parking lot attached that are homeless in their vehicles mostly cars and vans. I’m in a 25 foot Fleetwood RV. There’s a dog park kind of area with a big field they can run around and just clean up after them. There’s no public bathrooms, but there are trash cans so clean up after yourself please. It’s not tent friendly. I don’t believe.

Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

Rolling M. Ranch Campground — Chino Hills State Park

      Beautifully scenic area

Sprawling lush green hills? Can’t beat Chino Hills State Park.
The campground itself feels very close together and wide open compared to the space of the park. Gets loud at night if there are too many groups camping. No cell service. Super clean bathrooms and showers.

PET OWNERS BEWARE: Our dog munched on a frog at this campsite and started foaming at the mouth. We rinsed her mouth out with water and she turned out fine, but a smaller dog or a swallowed frog and she could have died from toxicity.

      Bonita Ranch Campground

      Loved this spot!!

A little gem hiding out in Lytle Creek! Easy access to a pretty trail right behind the campground. Very quiet and interspersed with long time stayers and temporary campers. I stayed in my van and had my cat and dog with me. Campfire wood was easily available and had its own picnic table. Beautiful scenery and we even got a dusting of snow! I stayed two nights while in town for work and it was perfect.

      Lake Campground

Acceptable last minute camping, not great, not terrible.

      Pros: Large campsites

                Clean-ish toilets

                Lake within walking distance

      Cons: Right near highway, noisy

Lots of flies during the day

                 tent sites are very flat

Last minute trip and decided to check out Lake Campground. There are 8 sites placed on this hilly area, with a vault toilet in the center of the campground. It is located right next to the highway, so it can be pretty noisy during the day as its a popular route for motorcyclists. The campground itself was fairly clean, and all the sites were very large and spaced well away from each other. The sites weren't very flat, so options to set your tent up were very limited. Some sites had some shade, others almost none. There were tons of flies, very active during the daytime, but went away during the evening. The vault toilets were the cleanest I'd seen (For vault toilets) and the staff came through the campgrounds several times a day.

Jackson Lake is a short walk from the campgrounds. It has a nice day use picnic area with coal grills, picnic benches, and four vault toilets (in pretty poor condition). The lake was pretty small and had a stagnant smell to it. Lots of people were fishing, and a few people waded into the waters. I saw people in rafts / kayaks later in the day. The area was covered in fleas so careful with pets.

Beach activities: Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground provides immediate beach access for swimming, fishing and sunset viewing. The location puts campers steps from the Pacific: "Nice place very close to the beach with amazing Pacific view. All connections in place; sites very close to each other," reports a visitor.

Hiking with dogs: Mount Lowe Trail Campground offers pet-friendly trails with elevation gain and valley views. One camper shares: "It was eerily quiet at night. We were the only ones there and can hear our own hearbeats laying there at night. We went in May this year so not much people around."

    What campers like

Proximity to attractions: Many pet owners appreciate Anaheim Harbor RV Park for its location near major attractions. "Very good park, well kept and clean. Onsite bathrooms, showers, office and clubhouse. Small pool no hotub. Friendly neighbors great long term stay," according to one reviewer.

Clean facilities: Golden Shore RV Resort maintains high standards for their pet-friendly grounds. A camper notes, "The grounds are kept in excellent condition - very clean and secure. The pool, showers, bathrooms are all spotless."

Urban convenience with natural settings: Bonelli Bluffs balances access to urban amenities while providing natural surroundings for pets. "There is camping, horseback riding, fishing, trails, biking, hiking, picnics, you can use your jet skies in designated areas, swimming on the pool areas, kayaking, Park for kids and plenty more."

    What you should know

Airport noise considerations: Oceanfront camping at Dockweiler Beach RV Park comes with airplane noise from LAX. A camper reports: "We loved this spot next to the beach. We got used to the planes, but they are certainly jarring at first."

Site spacing and privacy: Many campgrounds near Huntington Park feature closely positioned sites. "Other than the wifi being very poor signal (some nights) no wifi. Very nice campsite and the price is great aswell," mentions a visitor to Anaheim Harbor RV Park.

Seasonal variations: Angeles Crest Overlook dispersed area becomes significantly busier on weekends. "When I stayed, there were no other people who stayed the night, but quite a few people came throughout the night just for 20 minutes at a time or so. Wasn't too noisy at all."

    Tips for camping with families

Pool access options: Bonelli Bluffs offers swimming pools and multiple recreation options for families with pets. "We chose Bonelli for our shakedown trip in our new trailer (first time RVers). SO quiet. Numerous residents, but spots are mostly keep up nicely."

Tent-specific considerations: Families with tents should research carefully. One camper at Anaheim Harbor RV Park explains: "The tent sites are very small with a picnic table and AstroTurf. There was only just enough space for my REI Hobitat 6 and VERY close to the neighboring tent site and bathrooms."

Beach fire options: Dockweiler Beach provides fire rings on the beach suitable for evening family gatherings. "It is accommodating for some different size vehicles and has direct beach access and some amenities such as fire pits on the beach. It's hard to get a better view than this one."

    Tips from RVers

Dry camping sections: Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground offers different camping experiences in various sections. "Review of dry campervan section of park only, which seemed considerably more quiet and less chaotic than the big RV area... Best sites are 125-128."

Reservation considerations: Golden Shore RV Resort requires advance planning for pet owners seeking prime spots. "We stayed here last year and it was horrible and said we'd never stay again. But never say never!! We had to find a place as we had illness in our family. So they had a space available for our 42' 5th wheel and the site was wonderful."

Size restrictions: Site length limitations apply at many area campgrounds. "The 40ft RV length restriction includes the length of the hitch," cautions a visitor, noting that despite advertised capacities, "their campground is extremely tight and sites may be very difficult to back in if longer than 35ft."
