Most established campgrounds in the region feature amenities like showers, electrical hookups, and picnic tables, while several include cabin accommodations for those seeking more comfort.

Camping in the Hood area remains accessible year-round with mild Delta climate conditions, though summer reservations should be secured well in advance due to high demand for waterfront sites. Most campgrounds provide water and electric hookups, with several offering full sewer connections for extended stays. The proximity to Sacramento means easy access to supplies and services, with many sites situated within 30 minutes of urban conveniences while still providing riverside relaxation. Cell service is generally reliable throughout the region, and most campgrounds have paved roads suitable for all vehicle types. As one visitor noted, "Great little campsite with a 50s vibe right outside the city of Sacramento. The bathrooms and showers are clean, and there are restaurants close by."

Waterfront camping ranks consistently high in visitor reviews, with several Delta locations offering private docks and water access. Very clean facilities, it's right on the water - the California delta river." Family-friendly amenities appear throughout the region's campgrounds, including swimming pools, playgrounds, and pet-friendly policies at most locations. While tent campers have fewer options than RV travelers, several campgrounds accommodate both with dedicated tent sites. Proximity to fishing, boating, and swimming opportunities represents a major draw for visitors, with multiple reviewers highlighting the peaceful atmosphere despite being relatively close to urban areas.

      Skyline Wilderness Park

      Napa, California

We have stayed here a few times. I have a sister that lives here and this place is only about 3 miles from us! $80 for a back in space.

      Jackson Rancheria RV Park

      Wonderful Location

This place is awesome. Super clean, spaces are big and neighbors are not too close. The facilities are super clean and modern. We enjoyed the pool, spa and shower facilities. There’s a shuttle that shows up about every 40 minutes to the casino. The office staff was very friendly and knowledgeable about the different spaces and location of the afternoon sun.

      Rancho Seco Recreation Area

      Rancho Stinko

This park is completely understaffed, and the staff they do have are short and rude when talked to. Leaches in the water, goose poop all on beach area along with trash and dirty diapers. Management is never to be seen and the store they have is never open. Restrooms had poop on walls, birds in the bathroom, toilet paper everywhere. They constantly have water problems. They have an abundance of wasps also.

      Lake Solano County Park

      Friendly staff, nice sites

We enjoyed our stay here while visiting Napa. Extended our stay. Peacocks on the property and rogue goats. Boat launch was not operable on our side of the park.

Riverside Campground — Castle Crags State Park

      first camping trip

This place was a blessing. Rangers were very kind and informative however price is misleading at riverside it’s more expensive $25 a night. Felt safe and quiet for the most part beside the train.

      Sherman Island Regional Park

      Kite Surfers Dream

This location is perfect for people who are looking for the wind. Everyone is pretty respectful of one another. First come first serve $45/night. Not well maintained the road was flooded and it hadn’t rained in weeks in the area. Not well maintained. Must have self contained camper: van, rv, trailer. Tight quarters, it’s like a parking lot of vehicles camping right next to one another. There is a boat launch.

Site selection matters: Campground layouts vary significantly with some sites offering more privacy than others. At SacWest RV Park & Campground, one camper advised: "We stayed at the side close to the highway so it was a bit noisy but not too bad."

Pet policies differ: Dog restrictions vary between campgrounds. A would-be visitor to Sherwood Harbor Marina & RV Park shared: "I called to stay one night.
