Bakersfield River Run RV Park provides full hookup sites with concrete pads and grassy areas between sites. The pull-through sites alternate direction of entry, with most accommodating big rigs and offering 30/50-amp electric, water, sewer, and cable TV connections. Orange Grove RV Park in Bakersfield features spacious sites surrounded by orange trees, with tools provided for guests to pick fresh fruit. Bakersfield KOA Journey contains 215 sites open year-round with 30/50-amp hookups, while Bear Mountain RV Park offers 130 sites with full hookups and picnic tables. Most RV parks in the region maintain level sites with concrete pads, though some visitors note proximity concerns. "Pull-through site we chose wasn't quite level, but close. The pad was long enough to stay hooked up and wide enough to have slides out, but if the neighbor on the hookups side has slides on that side, they'd be almost touching."

Between Bakersfield and Tehachapi, several RV parks provide varying levels of amenities and road access conditions. Mountain Valley RV Park in Tehachapi remains open year-round with 50-amp electric and water hookups but no sewer connections at individual sites. Dump stations are available at most parks, with Bakersfield River Run and Orange Grove offering on-site sanitary dump facilities. Cell service varies by location, with stronger signals in Bakersfield and potentially weaker coverage in mountain areas like Tehachapi. Pet-friendly policies are common throughout the region's RV parks, with designated dog areas at several locations. Laundry facilities, showers, and restrooms are standard amenities, though cleanliness and maintenance quality differ between properties. According to one visitor, "Clean, quiet RV Park right off the 99. Spotless bathrooms with great showers. They have a rec room, workout room, outdoor bbq area with a nice grill, a pool and a little store."

      Bakersfield River Run RV Park

      Good for overnight

Called to see if they had availability for the night after the office had closed, but a woman answered and gave us late check-in instructions. Clear list of available sites, amenities and prices. Pull-through site we chose wasn’t quite level, but close. The pull-through sites alternate direction of entry. Concrete pad, grassy areas in between on the door-side; neighbor’s hookups on the hookup side. Pad was long enough to stay hooked up and wide enough to have slides out, but if the neighbor on the hookups side has slides on that side, they’d be almost touching . Full hookups worked fine. Restrooms good, but the stall doors didn’t all lock. The freeway noise was pretty constant, and there was an occasional sour smell from the river, I guess. Would stay here again.

      Bakersfield River Run RV Park

      Hidden Gem

This place is a hidden gem in Bakersfield amid industrial complex buildings. It does sit next to a branch of the Kern river…unfortunately it was dry. The campground is clean and well maintained. Sites are level dirt for your rig and a clean cement pad for your chairs etc. A few of the pull thru spaces are a bit close together especially if you have pull outs but the cement pads do not face each other. Full hookups at each site including a sewer line and cable tv with a modest list of channels. There are trees some sites are shaded others not so much. The bathrooms are by far the cleanest I’ve seen. They have a great laundry room as well. There is a pool, a pretty impressive sized rec room, there also is a camp store saw these at a distance we did not stay long enough to use these facilities. I would definitely stay here again.

      Amazing Time

First time to the Kern River. Loved it. We were there August 1-6. The River was a little low but it was perfect for us with our 5 year old son. We were able to float down the river in our inner tubes safely. We were told May to June the river is very high in this area. We also fished in the river. Our camp site was great. We stayed in site 81 in our class C RV. Corner site on a creek that ran through the campground. The creek was great to sit in to escape the heat and float down. Lots of kids and dog friendly. The WIFI was good to stream TV and ATT cell service was good too. The sites had power, water and cable TV hook up. There is a dump station in the campground. They clean and rake all camp sites after each use and they enforce the 10:00pm quiet time. It is a short walk/ride to Kern River Brewery. Or it is about a hour drive to Trail of 100 Giants Sequoia Trees. Can’t wait to stay here again.

      Selby Campground

      Quiet, peaceful, and FREE

We loved this campground.  The 3 nights we stayed here were really relaxing and peaceful. Almost all other campers were quiet and respectful and friendly.  We won't talk about the noisy family with 4 rambunctious kids that busted in one evening, screamed and yelled for about 12 hours, straight, then just as dramatically busted out at 630am (!) the next morning.  Other than them, all the campers, as well as the many people who stopped here to use the restroom or to park their car while they went hiking or bike riding were so chill and peaceful.  Our 26ft motorhome was by far the biggest beast there.  Other than a few small trailers, the other campers were all in camper vans, truck campers, or tents.

There is zero cell reception at the campground, but if you hike up the hill behind the campground you can get decent verizon and ATT (we didn't take our T-Mobile hotspot so we don't know for sure if there's T-Mobile reception there).

The Selby rocks are closed this time of year through July due to migratory bird nesting, but there's plenty of other hiking and exploring in the area, including some petroglyphs on the big rocks near the barn down the road.

It gets pretty windy at night.

There are 2 unisex vault toilets.

3 potable water spigots for water to be used while at the campground (as opposed to filling your RV tank)

A large metal structure which I assume is 3 horse corrals.

No trash service, please pack out what you bring in so this campground stays free and open.

Each site has a picnic table, fire pit, and a shade structure.

There is one "bonus" dispersed-type spot with a rock fire ring behind the campground, just go up the little hill and it's on the left.

The road coming in was doable, just some gravelly washboarding.

Highly recommend this campground!  Apparently this time of year is the busy season due to amazing blooms, but this year was a dry winter so we didn't see many flowers.

      Bakersfield River Run RV Park

      Home Town RV Parlk

Bakersfield RV park just off Hwy 99. My home town, Born and raised, so I've stayed here a few times returning. Nice park adjacent to a great bike trail of 50+ miles. The river is not always running as in some of the pictures. Gravel pads concrete patios surrounded by grass. Daily weekly monthly rates, and have used all of them.

      Shaded Haven RV Park

Worst campground I’ve ever stayed at!

5+ years Full time RVer, worst ever campground we have ever stayed at, stayed in many states, long-term short-term, stayed at this one for two months, although had a reservation for three. Sites are too tight, everything‘s grayish/dusty and dirty, you’re near a rail track, that blows its horn for minutes 24/7, that includes 2 AM, that includes 4 AM. Many of the neighbors you’ll see look like they’re on (mental) disability and don’t look healthy. Hot tub is smelly and yellow water too often although they state they clean it almost weekly. I god major depression staying here.

      QuailValley

      Unexpected

We heard good things about this campground from family so we decided to give it a shot. It’s about an hour and 15 minutes from our home in Bakersfield. That road off of the 65 is pretty decent as we have a 32 foot fifth wheel. As usual some sites are better than others there are some creek side sites that are very large and if there’s water are very nice. They have tent only sites as well. On our first trip we stayed in a pull through site. There is not a whole lot of space between campsites in this loop but it’s doable. They also have a stocked pond on site. However if you want to keep any of the fish caught, you have to purchase them. There are trails to hike. FYI, there is no cell reception and no provided wifi. Personally I think that’s a good thing 😬.

      Bakersfield River Run RV Park

Clean, Friendly with pool, hot tub, laundry, wifi, showers and full hookups

We stayed for one night, after dry camping in Yosemite for several days. It was nice to fresh hot showers, do laundry, recharge everything and get a good night's sleep. The place is for RVs, no tent sites, fire rings or tables, but well spaced level pads, with full hookups, a concrete patio for your own table and chairs, grass, flowers, trees and landscaping. I took a dip in the swimming pool, it was very refreshing. The hot tub jets massaged my neck and shoulders after driving for several days. The site has a recreation room and outdoor grill with picnic tables. The location is close to 99 but not too loud. Costco is nearby. There is a river and a park on the other side of the RV Park fence. Overall just what we were looking for.

      Bakersfield River Run RV Park

      Quiet Oassis

Clean, quiet RV Park right off the 99. Spotless bathrooms with great showers. They have a rec room, workout room, outdoor bbq area with a nice grill, à pool and a little store. Wifi, phone signal and cable were good. Other campers were friendly couples and families. We were the only ones with a rental rv. It was a Saturday night in October and they still had some open spaces.

    Guide to Greenfield

RV parks in Greenfield, California offer camping options with varied connectivity and site layouts. The area sits at the junction of agricultural flatlands and mountain terrain with elevations ranging from 295 feet to over 4,000 feet in the Tehachapi mountains. Winter temperatures can drop below freezing in higher elevations while summer brings hot, dry conditions in the valley locations.

    What to do

Wildlife viewing at riverbed paths: Near Bakersfield River Run RV Park, visitors can access the Kern River corridor. "There is a river and a park on the other side of the RV Park fence" and though "the river is dry but there is an equestrian path along it," providing opportunities for walking and wildlife spotting.

Orange picking opportunities: At Orange Grove RV Park, campers can harvest fresh citrus. "My son and I enjoyed free orange picking though!" and "The oranges are absolutely fantastic and makes you wonder why you can't get the same quality in a store." Tools are provided for picking, creating a unique agricultural experience.

Glider watching: The Mountain Valley RV Park sits adjacent to a glider airport where "In the morning we walked over to the Raven's Nest for breakfast and watched the gliders take off starting around 9am." Another camper noted "Sites are right off runway for glider flying. We ended up extending stay from one night to four to watch air force cadet competition."

    What campers like

Clean bathroom facilities: Campers consistently praise the cleanliness at Bakersfield KOA Journey. One visitor mentioned "Great staff, clean! We stopped in with our family as we make our trip down south for the holiday." The facilities include "paved roads, great amenities, bar and restaurants."

Pool and recreation options: Several parks offer swimming amenities that receive positive feedback. At A Country RV Park, "Paved sites, well landscaped, they even have orange and lemon trees you can pick some fruit off of." The layout includes "it's gated and clean."

Convenient overnight stops: Many travelers use these RV parks as strategic resting points. "Very convenient and super clean. The lady who answers the phone is super friendly and helpful," says one camper about A Country RV Park, while another stated "Convenient park adjacent to freeway but the noise is minimal."

    What you should know

Bathroom access restrictions: Some RV parks limit bathroom access overnight. At Spaceport RV Park, "Bathrooms have free showers but they were closed. Laundry room was open though." At Mountain Valley RV Park, "bathrooms are locked between 10 pm and 7:30 am (not good for those of us with early mornings)."

Highway and railroad noise: Proximity to transportation corridors affects some parks. Bakersfield River Run RV Park has sites where campers report "If not for the danged highway noise this would be five stars for sure. Ask for 1-32 or 89-113 to have your best chance of avoiding the highway noise." Similarly, at Bakersfield Palms RV Park, "Trains are very near so there is that noise."

Limited tent camping options: Many parks primarily accommodate RVs with few tent options. One disappointed visitor to Orange Grove RV Park left a review stating "No tent camping app lied." Always call ahead to confirm tent camping availability as policies may change.

    Tips for camping with families

Dog-friendly accommodations: Many RV parks welcome pets with designated areas. Bear Mountain RV Park offers "Fenced dog park" which receives positive comments. At Bakersfield River Run RV Park, "there is an equestrian path along it. Access requires code" providing additional dog walking options.

Recreation room availability: For entertainment during downtime, check for indoor facilities. Bakersfield River Run RV Park provides "a recreation room and outdoor grill with picnic tables" and "They have a rec room, workout room, outdoor bbq area with a nice grill, a pool and a little store."

Restaurant proximity: Several parks offer convenient dining options nearby. At Mountain Valley RV Park, "I also recommend Red House BBQ a few miles up the road if you are looking for lunch or dinner" and the adjacent airport has "a restaurant on the grounds."

    Tips from RVers

Site leveling considerations: RV campers should prepare for variable site conditions. At A Country RV Park, "the spots are wide and long enough for our 42' 5th wheel" while Spaceport RV Park offers "spots are on gravel or a concrete pad with plenty of room to maneuver."

Seasonal utilities: Water and electric availability varies between parks. Mountain Valley RV Park provides "water and electrical" but "There is a dump station not full hookups and WiFi is only available when the cafe is open." One visitor advised it's "Great for a rest and recharge."

Pull-through configurations: Site layout affects ease of setup. Spaceport RV Park provides "Full hookup for $20.00/night and VERY helpful park staff!!!" with sites that allow for staying connected. "It's bare bones" but practical for overnight stays with full hookups at budget rates.
