    Fiddlers Cove RV Park

Great RV Park - We love it!

Very clean and well maintained but rather small RV park collocated with a nice marina. This is a military installation so it’s not open to the public. This is our go to staycation place on San Diego bay. Close enough to Coronado but far enough to be secluded. 20/30/50 amp power, water, and cable TV connections on the pedestals. Most spaces are back-in, but some are pull-through. Pet friendly with disposal stations, and the park has a nice mini-mart.

    Mission Bay RV Resort

    Short and to the point

It’s a nice Rv resort. Big rig friendly pull through sites. Went Veterans Day weekend 2021 and the weather was perfect. Short walk to the water, De Anza Cove. The beach is a dog friendly after 4 p.m.

    Pechanga RV Resort

This Is A Resort With All Amenities

I spent a few nights using my Passport America discount at Pechanga RV Resort. I really liked it there. This is now one of my favorite RV resorts in California except for the showers. It is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that The park itself is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that is fenced in with gazebo, and picnic tables. First of all, it is part of the Casino with entertainment and restaurants. This casino reminds me of the Vegas casinos and now is under construction to make it a real Vegas Style Resort. It’s going to be finished sometimes in 2017.

The RV resort itself has a nice heated pool, Jacuzzi, ping pong table. They also have a golf club which could be important for some. One thing I hated is the showers. The RV resort shower has a timer set to 25 seconds and the showerhead is not able to stand upright. So you basically have to hold the shower in one hand and keep pressing the timer every 25 seconds. It’s December, it’s cold in the shower, especially because the water keeps shutting off. You end up standing soaking wet putting soap on yourself in the cold.

I wonder if the hotel rooms have timer on the showers as well. The person who came up with this idea should take showers in there each night. It pet-friendly resort, they also have an area for dogs. If you heading to the casino, they have a shuttle service 24/7 which picks ups from and drop-offs to and from your space. You have to call a number and they are there to pick you up in minutes.

About the WiFi! It’s the best WiFi ever in any parks I’ve so far visited! I wasn’t even close to the main building and had a great reception. I am able to use my Roku to watch Netflix and can use my laptop as well for work. I didn’t even need my Sprint or Verizon, but both work fine. Across the street, there is a 2-mile bike/walk trail. Using this and riding around the nice neighborhoods it was a fun way to get some exercise.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Great place by the beach

Your not on the beach but literally on the other side of pacific coast highway you are there. They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups. They have a great pool, maintained laundry rooms bathrooms and showers separated by men and woman for that privacy you need. Overall an incredible rv park and very impressed by it being well kept and clean. Not to mention close to the beach

    Fiddlers Cove RV Park

    Military RV park

Water front back in sites, pull through sites, other back in sites not waterfront and two tent sites. Don’t book with the concierge service. Easier to call the campground itself. Cell service is great and they have WiFi. Clean restrooms with shower. Water, sewage and power hook ups (30&50 amp). Small store and a boat house you can rent stuff like kayaks and paddle boards from. Great hidden gem.

    Lake Jennings

    Hidden Gem

This place is truly a hidden gem. Just 30 minutes from San Diego, with friendly staff and partial or full hookups. We were in a preferred lake view site#96 which had water and electric hookups. There was a play area that had ladder golf, tetherball, and ping pong. Have extra guess? Have them reserve a Tipi that has a max of 6 people. We had thee bars on our Version service and the campground WIFI is one of the best I have seen camping. Lake Jennings has some supplies available as well such as ice, propane, firewood, etc. at reasonable prices. Bathrooms and showers are clean. There is a dump station in the campground, and I suggest checking out the best way to get into the dump station before taking your rig. there are several roads around the dump station but only one that takes you in straight without having to make a sharp turn and possibly having to back up. The lake is drinking water for the local town and therefore no swimming allowed but they do stock the lake with fish. Just a long walk or short drive to the other side of the Lake and you can go fishing or boating. I would not suggest checking in early. The road in is very narrow and if you arrive before the noon checkout time you may find yourself falling into the lake while trying to squeeze by another on coming RV or trailer.

Palm Canyon Hotel & RV Resort

Family Friendly Borrego Springs full with hookups

A nice little (120 spaces or so) full hookup (30 and 50 amp) campground.  We paid $289 for 5 nights. Clean, well maintained and full of families.  Very close to downtown and Anza-Borrego Visitor Center.  Spaces are good size, no problems fitting our 30' toy hauler towed by F250, and the park is well laid out and easy to drive. Checkin was fast and easy.  There are full time residents, but they are in a different section.  We used it as a base for hiking and off-roading at Octotillo Wells (both recommended, but bring as much water as you  can carry). The property has an old west theme, and there is also a hotel , laundromat and restaurant. If you have never visited this part of California, be advised that the wind here can be VERY intense, especially at night.  Also note that Borrego Springs is a dark sky community, so please be respectful and remember to look up and enjoy the stars.

Paradise By The Sea RV Resort

    Amazing RV Resort Near Beach

A nicely appointed RV resort in downtown Oceanside with an awesome staff. Pull-through and back-in, full hookup spots available. Cable, wi-fi, a clubhouse with TV and PlayStation for the kids, pool table, games to check out, and a small swimming pool and hot tub. There are also outdoor community areas with ping-pong, bean-bag toss, grills, and other activities.

The resort is only a 5- minute walk to the beach and not far from Oceanside restaurants and shops. While it’s a tad spendy, you really do get a lot for your money with a great near beach location.

Guide to Fallbrook

Fallbrook outdoor accommodations range from full hookup RV resorts to lakeside tent sites with varying levels of amenities. Located in northern San Diego County at elevations between 500-1500 feet, the region experiences a Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers. The inland location provides sheltered camping options protected from coastal fog while maintaining temperatures 5-10 degrees cooler than desert regions.

What to do

Fishing opportunities: At Thousand Trails Wilderness Lakes RV Resort, guests can enjoy fishing in the canals that run through the property. "Sights of all kinds of birds like hawks and herons. Camping spots all have fire pit and spacious area for RVs and tents," notes camper Xochiquetzal G.

Mini-golf courses: Several RV parks near Fallbrook feature mini-golf facilities for family entertainment. At Wilderness Lakes, one visitor remarked it was "probably our favorite TT mini golf so far." Similarly, at Rancho Jurupa RV Park, amenities include "Splash pad, park, mini golf great amenities."

Walking trails: Explore the natural landscape on designated paths. One visitor at Wilderness Lakes mentioned "a nice one mile hike around the perimeter of the park," providing an easy opportunity to stretch your legs without venturing far from camp.

What campers like

Beach proximity: Paradise By The Sea RV Resort offers exceptional ocean access. "The RV park has its own back gate to the beach. It meanders through a little city park and then you can take the roads to find little beach access or walk through the neighborhood down to the proper beach and Oceanside Pier," explains camper Julia M.

Pool facilities: Many resorts feature swimming pools, with Escondido RV Resort earning particular praise for all-weather performance. "Despite facing challenging weather conditions with heavy rain and hail from an atmospheric river, everything continued to function seamlessly... The drainage system was impeccable," reports John H.

Recreation spaces: Indoor and outdoor community areas provide social opportunities. Paradise By The Sea includes "an indoor rec room with billiards, shuffle board and more" and an "outdoor rec area with corn hole, picnic area and more," according to David T.

What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Several campgrounds require additional equipment for proper RV setup. At Olive Avenue RV Resort, campers report significant slope issues: "We had a pull through site with full hook ups; it was on a cement pad that was nice, but the city made them slope all the pads for water drainage … a huge amount! We maxed out our tongue on multiple boards to level off."

Train noise: Properties near coastal areas often experience railroad disruptions. At Paradise By The Sea, "There is a commuter train that goes by... It only came a few times a day and it was not a big deal. Didn't affect us working from the RV."

Electrical capacity limitations: During peak season, power availability can be restricted. At Wilderness Lakes, "They don't have enough 50amp sites and not all of them are always working. This park is first come / first served and they don't prohibit a 30amp rig from taking a 50amp site."

Tips for camping with families

Water features: Vail Lake RV Resort provides multiple aquatic options for children. "There's three pools, mini golf, activities for kids, a super cute and clean camp store, and a bar! I love this spot for its large spots, clean areas," shares Jerusha V.

Playground access: Rancho Jurupa offers "Great kid friendly activities" according to Janet S., who brought Girl Scouts to the group camping area. The facility includes playground equipment and grassy play areas.

Transportation options: At Vail Lake, "You can rent golf carts that make wandering the park really fun!" This provides a convenient way for families with younger children to explore larger resort properties without excessive walking.

Tips from RVers

Arrival guidance: When approaching Oceanside RV Resort, be prepared for challenging entrance conditions. One camper advises, "They did text to look for the check in with the orange flags. Once there, these flags are very narrow and I hard a time spotting them, as they are on a busy sign flooded street."

Site selection strategy: At Pala Casino RV Resort, "The spots are big as well, each spot have a picnic table! Resort-style amenities. Nice Pool, kids playground and dog park great!" according to Milagros B., making it suitable for larger rigs.

Amenities accessibility: Facilities vary in operating hours across RV parks. "The pool hours kinda suck because they close at 5pm on weekdays but great heated pool and two hot tubs," notes Ryan K. about Pala Casino RV Resort, suggesting campers plan activities accordingly.
