Anaheim RV Park - PERMANENTLY CLOSED

Disney Camping - Clean, Pool, Very Nice Restrooms/Showers

Anaheim RV Resort is close to Disney and is on the Anaheim Resort Transportation (ART) bus route. They have full hook up sites and room for large rigs - back-in and pull through. They are very pet friendly and even have a dog walking/feeding service (for an extra fee). There is a small pool and hot tub. The restrooms/showers and newly remodeled and very nice! Sites are all level and fairly large. We've stayed here 4 times and will be back again!

    Pechanga RV Resort

This Is A Resort With All Amenities

I spent a few nights using my Passport America discount at Pechanga RV Resort. I really liked it there. This is now one of my favorite RV resorts in California except for the showers. It is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that The park itself is clean, well-maintained, concrete, level pads, full hookups, 168 site spaces, 20-30-50 amp power, 5 luxury spaces that is fenced in with gazebo, and picnic tables. First of all, it is part of the Casino with entertainment and restaurants. This casino reminds me of the Vegas casinos and now is under construction to make it a real Vegas Style Resort. It’s going to be finished sometimes in 2017.

The RV resort itself has a nice heated pool, Jacuzzi, ping pong table. They also have a golf club which could be important for some. One thing I hated is the showers. The RV resort shower has a timer set to 25 seconds and the showerhead is not able to stand upright. So you basically have to hold the shower in one hand and keep pressing the timer every 25 seconds. It’s December, it’s cold in the shower, especially because the water keeps shutting off. You end up standing soaking wet putting soap on yourself in the cold.

I wonder if the hotel rooms have timer on the showers as well. The person who came up with this idea should take showers in there each night. It pet-friendly resort, they also have an area for dogs. If you heading to the casino, they have a shuttle service 24/7 which picks ups from and drop-offs to and from your space. You have to call a number and they are there to pick you up in minutes.

About the WiFi! It’s the best WiFi ever in any parks I’ve so far visited! I wasn’t even close to the main building and had a great reception. I am able to use my Roku to watch Netflix and can use my laptop as well for work. I didn’t even need my Sprint or Verizon, but both work fine. Across the street, there is a 2-mile bike/walk trail. Using this and riding around the nice neighborhoods it was a fun way to get some exercise.

    Bolsa Chica State Beach Campground

    Bolsa Chica State Beach

The 4 stars is primarily for location. This is essentially a parking lot with power and water. We had a beach front space (B035) with a decent sized palm tree. The only one I really saw. The spaces aren’t huge so if you have a big rig or large trailer it will be tight. Most trailers parked their tow vehicle perpendicular to the space and some barely fit. There is no privacy, the small concrete area is shared with your neighbors as is the entrance to the beach side. People watching at the boardwalk is amazing. There is live music at the beach bars nearby which was cool. Definitely bring bike. There isn’t a lot within walking distance but downtown Huntington Beach and the pier is just a couple miles away.

    Waterfront RV Park

    Great place by the beach

Your not on the beach but literally on the other side of pacific coast highway you are there. They have smaller options for travel trailers with power hook ups only and pull through and back in sites available with full hook ups. They have a great pool, maintained laundry rooms bathrooms and showers separated by men and woman for that privacy you need. Overall an incredible rv park and very impressed by it being well kept and clean. Not to mention close to the beach

Mountain Lakes Resort - Membership Campground

    Great family friendly place

My wife and I have been coming up here for years. We used to use her parents fifth wheel or use a cabin but recently purchased our own travel trailer. Now we come up here with our kids and I can’t say enough about how family friendly it is.

    Pineknot

Pineknot Campground, Big Bear Lake, Ca

A bit challenging to locate via Google Maps... Just go up (south) Summit Blvd, when you get to the parking lot of the ski resort, veer towards the left, and just past a concrete wall, you'll see the little Pineknot Campground sign attached to an aluminium pole. The campground is very cozy, countless tall pine trees, clean bathrooms, clean sites, water from taps, no hookups, and not for big rigs. The hosts are friendly, but strict! No generators from 8 pm to 8 am, a $3000 fine if your campfire is left unattended, and no rowdy obnoxious behavior is tolerated! We appreciated the rules, and thoroughly enjoyed our peaceful, quiet, deep in the woods getaway!!

    Ronald W. Caspers Wilderness Park

One of the Best County Parks you will find

This is a great park in Southern Orange County. I have tent camped here for years with my kids in the Live Oak campground and never had a bad experience. There are hiking trails everywhere with lots of wildlife to watch. I switched to a travel trailer several years ago and now use Ortega Flats campground. The sites are big and well spaced, with 30 amp electric. The water is off for the time being. The dump station is very close by and easy to access.

Guide to Colton

Campgrounds near Colton, California range from mountain retreats to lakeside destinations across San Bernardino County. Most sites sit at elevations between 1,200-7,000 feet, creating significant temperature variations throughout the year. Summer daytime temperatures often reach 100°F in lower elevations while mountain campgrounds remain 15-20 degrees cooler. Winter camping typically requires cold-weather gear as nighttime temperatures drop below freezing in higher elevations from November through March.

What to do

Hiking to waterfalls: At Bonita Ranch Campground, campers can access trails leading to Bonita Falls. "It's definitely not that far away from the city roughly a 7-10 minute drive up the mountain very chill environment... The falls are located fairly close unfortunately people suck and have managed to turn it into a tagging area but if you can see past that it's quite enjoyable," notes one visitor. The waterfall trail involves moderate difficulty with some rocky terrain.

Mountain biking: Keller Peak Yellow Post Campsites connects to numerous biking trails. "I really dig these spots because they are well spaced out. It's right around the corner from my cabin so it's a great spot to get outside for the weekend without an epic drive," reports one camper. The area features both technical and beginner-friendly routes through pine forest terrain.

Fishing opportunities: Multiple campgrounds offer fishing access, with varying catch rates by season. A visitor to Lake Elsinore noted: "My family loves this place we were here before the remodeling and we are still faithful returners every year for the past 20 + years we absolutely love it here." Bass and catfish are common catches in area lakes, with fishing licenses required for ages 16+.

What campers like

Privacy between sites: Skypark Camp RV Resort provides well-designed spaces. According to one visitor, "We had an amazing view and lucked out for plenty of privacy (our section was just us all weekend)." Sites include concrete pads with enough room for slide-outs and outdoor seating.

Convenient bathrooms: Several campgrounds feature individual bathroom units. "Bathrooms are incredibly clean and a combo of a toilet and shower to a room. So, no randos," notes a Skypark camper. This setup offers greater privacy than traditional campground bathhouses.

Proximity to attractions: The location of several rv parks near Colton, California appeals to many campers. "We used the campground as a base camp to spend time in LA and San Diego as well as a day in Joshua Tree National Park. 1-2 hours from everything," writes one visitor to Launch Pointe Recreation Destination and RV Park. Most camping areas provide access to regional attractions within a 30-90 minute drive.

What you should know

Seasonal closures: Mountain campgrounds often have limited winter accessibility. "Weather is definitely colder than in the valley, got snow overnight in mid May," reports a Keller Peak visitor. Always check road conditions before heading to higher elevation campsites during winter months.

Reservation requirements: Many campgrounds fill quickly, particularly on weekends. "Get there earlier to find a spot, people seem to stay for awhile," advises one camper about yellow post sites. For established rv parks around Colton, California, reservations are recommended 2-3 months in advance for summer weekends.

Fire restrictions: Regulations vary significantly by location and season. "There are fire rings but fires are not always permitted so be sure to check with the station just at the bottom of Keller Peak road," notes a camper. Always verify current fire rules before your trip, as violations can result in significant fines.

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly amenities: Rancho Jurupa RV Park offers numerous activities for children. "Took Girl Scouts here for group camping... However, there are some great kid friendly activities," one reviewer mentions. The park includes playgrounds, splash pads, and miniature golf at reasonable rates.

Safety considerations: Some campgrounds provide enhanced security measures. A Rancho Jurupa visitor notes, "Great sense of community and great placement of the gates for safety purposes... Ranger is on constant patrol." Gated campgrounds typically close access between 10PM-6AM, requiring entry codes after hours.

Family-specific sites: Select areas cater specifically to groups with children. "Great park for family camping," writes a Launch Pointe visitor about their experience. The campground features "lots of activities for the kids to do, like smores by the fire, art, splash pad, and play ground."

Tips from RVers

Leveling challenges: Many campgrounds require significant leveling adjustments. At Holloway's Marina & RV Park, "The sites are very small and close and I don't know how some of the larger coaches got into their spaces." Pack extra leveling blocks and stabilizers for uneven terrain.

Site selection strategy: Choose sites based on specific needs rather than general availability. "The sites were all uneven. Every camper we saw had to do major leveling efforts," notes a Launch Pointe visitor. When making reservations, request information about site dimensions, shade coverage, and proximity to bathrooms.

Internet reliability: Connectivity varies significantly between campgrounds. One digital nomad family reported: "Internet was great but it had bandwidth restraints that would turn your internet off after very small amounts of data used. There was no option to upgrade so you had to use your own hotspots." Bring alternative connectivity options when staying at RV parks around Colton where reliable internet is essential.
