Best RV Parks & Resorts near Stockton, AL

Several RV parks operate near Stockton, Alabama, with hookups and amenities supporting motorhome travelers. Deer Creek RV Park provides 19 sites with full hookups, including 50-amp electrical service for larger rigs. The Retreat RV Campground on Styx River offers water and electric hookups with riverfront access, while Apalachee RV Campground at Blakeley State Park features spacious RV sites with water, electric, and sewer connections spread throughout wooded areas. Riverside RV Resort maintains concrete pads that accommodate larger motorhomes with 50-amp service and full hookups. Spacing between sites varies significantly across these parks, with Blakeley offering more privacy than others. "Some of the sites are so unlevel. But the historical tour of the park is amazing. Other than the RV sites being so unlevel the park is really nice."

Access to these RV parks generally requires careful navigation, particularly at Meaher State Park where one reviewer noted "it's a really tight and narrow turn to get into the campground, with the road you're turning off of the speed limit is 55mph with most people traveling well above that." Sanitary dump stations are available at most parks including Blakeley State Park, Citronelle Lakeview RV Park, and Wilderness RV Park. Most facilities remain open year-round, though summer months bring higher temperatures and increased insect activity that may affect outdoor comfort. Pets are welcome at nearly all parks except Citronelle Lakeview. Mobile and cell service generally remains reliable throughout the region. Proximity to Mobile provides convenient access to shopping, restaurants, and attractions while maintaining the natural setting many RV travelers seek.

    Sugar Sands RV Resort

    Our favorite Orange Beach campground

Very clean. Spacious sites with level concrete pads. Full hook ups. Only 8-10 minutes to the beach.  Very clean bath houses. Easy to navigate campground road with tons of room to back into back-in sites. Pull throughs also easily assessible. Nice pool. Check in easy and quick. Employees very friendly. Will be back next month. Camp store on site. They also have a few rental tiny houses and rv's. Trash pickup at your site each morning. Cable TV and great WIFI.

9/6/20 update: all things mostly the same, bath house closed from 8pm to 8am and WiFi not nearly as good as past visits.

    Magnolia Farms RV Park

    Quiet, Friendly RV Park

We are fairly new to the RV life - Andy tried to help us back in, and then decided he would just do it for us. He was so helpful. Everyone has been helpful. The laundry facility has an app that lets you know when your clothes are done, so you can walk back to your camper and wait instead of sitting with it. 3 or 4 activities are planned every month. There are some permanent residents, but enough transient to feel like you are with travelers. We chose it because it was close to our daughter, but would choose it again. Monthly rate is cheaper than daily rate. There is a fire pit for everyone to share, but no fire pits or grills for individual sites. Wooden decks for each site are nice. Grassy back in and some pull through- all level. Someone is always tending to the grounds and doing maintenance on the sites. We’ll be back!

    Chickasabogue Park - Temporarily Closed

    Perfect for local weekend getaway

Chickasabogue is a bit run down but it’s a great spot to get away from the bustle of daily life. There’s a sports field, water access, and several short, easy paths to hKe. It’s pet friendly and family friendly.

    Dockside RV Resort

    Clean, quiet, & great location

Very nice rv park. All have full hookups including sewer. Lots at gravel and level with plenty of room to park your camper & tow vehicle. Swimming g pool is nice, there is also a large fire pit. We arrived late and we’re offered help setting up since it was getting dark. WiFi is good enough for Roku & Hulu. Fishing dock is right across the street and we were only 25 minutes from Dauphin Island.

    Harper - Blakeley State Park

    Spacious and Historic

Harper Campground is designed for tent camping, $20 for unimproved and $30 for improved (electricity and water). If you have a $20 site, you have to bum water from one of the $30 sites. The restroom is nice and clean, showers are hot, and dumpsters are close to restrooms, but is a bit of a walk since the campground is so spacious. I rode my bike to use the bathroom. Enough brush to discreetly pop a squat if that’s your style. A small RV or camper van can easily fit in most of the sites. They’re quite spacious and only a couple (17 and 19) had mud pits. Every site is quite flat and clear and has good hammock trees. Sites 20 and up are not very private since the day use people can see right into your camp but otherwise they’re quite private since the shrubs are thick. Lots of cover meant less dew-covered gear in the morning. Each site had a nice wooden picnic table and fire pit. They sell small bundles of wet firewood for $6 a pop online and at the gatehouse so I recommend buying the regular sized dry bundles at the local supermarket a couple minutes down the road. Wildlife was good for birds, and we had an armadillo visit us all 4 nights! The history of the place is also really cool and we did not get any creepy vibes.

Wales West RV Resort & Light Railway

    Southern Alabama Style

We were workampers here two years ago, so this park is near and dear to our hearts. The sites are easy pull-throughs onto gravel, wide and roomy with picnic tables. There is a community center, pool, laundry & showers, lake with a beach and beach house. There are 3 event seasons- Hallowe'en, Christmas and Easter- when the park gets all dressed up for the occasion. The big attractions are the two narrow-gauge rails systems with their passenger-carrying trains. With cows lowing nearby and train sounds, it's a peaceful place to locate when exploring neighboring Alabama beaches, Mobile and Mobile Bay attractions.

    Gulf Shores-Pensacola West KOA

    MEH at best.

If your looking for a quick over night stop this is it. Stayed for Father's Day weekend and was not impressed for what I have seen from other KOA's. Getting set up was a pain because the escort took me the wrong way and ended up facing the wrong way. Had drive around the park again which has some tight turns for campers over 30 feet. Reservation was for a 30 amp hookup but the site only had a 50. They did loan me a step up adapter which was nice. If you can get the site's closer to the entrance those are the good ones with more room but no shade. Sites are cramped here in some spots. There was a couple activities going on each night. There are a lot of cabins to rent here and they do have premium sites with decks. Being on the water is not a true statement if you have an rv or travel trailer. There are a couple of cabins and some tent camping only. Will not make a second trip.

    Pensacola RV Park

    Satisfied Customer

The staff at this RV Park are friendly and helpful. The gravel sites are well maintained and level. If you need to do laundry, there are four washers and dryers that are reasonably priced. There are a combination of back in and pull through sites with FHUs. No problems encountered with the 50 amp power supply, water pressure, or sewer connection. There is a catch and release pond that you can walk around. I love the beautiful old oak trees throughout the park.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park Camp Resort - Alabama Gulf Coast

    Not Jellystone Quality

Came here expecting Jellystone experience with lots of activities. They have none. Temper your expectations to be a campground with a playground. When we pulled into our assigned spot the water and electricity hookups were oddly placed (site 74 I think). On top of that, the permanent resident in the spot next to the one we were to be in had their pickup parked in what would be our “backyard,” had a tarp on our fire pit, and had moved and taken over what would have been our picnic table. I went and asked for a different site because of this! The outside edge spots seem to be more permanent long term people and the inner ones more short term. Pool was open but very cold.

What to do

Plenty of room at each site. Well kept facilities. Hot showers. Located on Big Escambia Creek. Tubing and horseback riding available in season."

Fishing opportunities: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park Camp Resort maintains a small pond for fishing. "The lake is full of bream and each of my kids caught their first fish, definitely a memorable trip. We loved how peaceful it was, it was very clean and the staff were extremely friendly."

Historical exploration: Blakeley State Park Apalachee Campground features preserved historical sites from the 1800s. A visitor mentioned, "Great park with a ton of historically preserved areas from the 1800's. Bugs are not nearly as bad as I expected. Lots of wildlife including deer that come very close."

Swimming options: The Retreat RV Campground provides river access for cooling off. According to a camper, "Very pretty camp ground. Very close to the Styx river where you can get cooled off."

What campers like

Spacious sites: Campers appreciate the generous spacing at several parks. One reviewer at Blakeley State Park noted, "Big camping spaces- semi private. Kayaking trails all around in the park and local. Close by to big city life but camping in the wild yonder."

Waterfront access: The Retreat RV Campground offers riverside camping opportunities. "The retreat offers several amenities including showers, laundromat, and gas grills. There are even bouncy houses and playgrounds for the kids. It's located on the river and they have a pet beach separate so even your dogs can enjoy the water."

Peaceful environment: Many campgrounds maintain quiet surroundings despite proximity to urban areas. A Riverside RV Resort camper stated, "This RV Resort is quiet and peaceful. The bathroom/shower house is locked at night. There is a river with beautiful clear water. There is a place to grill out and to hang out."

Convenient access: Most RV sites near Stockton provide easy highway access. "We stopped on way back home. Great, friendly staff, very helpful. WiFi good enough to stream. Cell a bit spotty. Close enough to I10 to hear it in the background."

What you should know

Site leveling challenges: Several campgrounds have uneven sites requiring additional equipment. At The Retreat, one camper advised, "Make sure you bring leveling blocks, some of the sites are fairly level while other are not. Our site sloped down towards the river and we needed extra blocks to place under our tires and stabilizers."

Space limitations: Larger RVs may face challenges at some parks. "The RV sites are not on any type of paved or level ground and are not suitable for larger RVs. They're VERY close together and there are a lot of trees. They call them 'pull through' sites but there isn't enough room to pull through and turn onto the road."
