Harper - Blakeley State Park

Reservations are available at Harper Campground inside Blakeley State Park, where sites run $20 per night for unimproved and $30 for improved sites with electricity and water hookups. The campground is drive-in accessible and open year-round. One practical note: unimproved sites don't have direct water access, so campers on those sites typically need to walk to an improved site for water. The campground is set well into the woods, at least a mile from the park entrance, which means the bathhouse involves a real walk from some sites.

Sites are flat and clear, with thick shrubs providing decent separation between neighbors. As Kristina M. notes, "every site is quite flat and clear and has good hammock trees." Sites 17 and 19 have had mud issues, and sites 20 and up get more foot traffic from day-use visitors who can see into those camps. The bathhouse is clean, with hot showers reported, and dumpsters are located near the facilities. Firewood is sold on-site, though reviewers suggest buying larger dry bundles at a nearby supermarket instead.

The park covers over 2,000 acres with hiking, mountain biking, and equestrian trails. Wildlife sightings include armadillos and birds. The area also features a historical replication of the ghost town of Blakeley, which dates to the early 1800s and gives the park a distinct character beyond its trail system.
