Best RV Parks & Resorts near Jasper, AL

Smith Lake area offers several RV resorts within 30 miles of Jasper, Alabama. Thousand Trails Hidden Cove RV Resort provides full hookup sites with 50-amp service, while Bama Campground & RV Park features 28 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp electric options. Togetherness Works RV Park accommodates big rigs with pull-through sites and includes laundry facilities alongside standard water, sewer, and electric hookups. Most sites are gravel-based requiring minor leveling. "Sites were large, enough for another camper to fit. It had a nice fire pit ring that doubled as a grill you could flip over and use and had a picnic table."

Seasonal availability varies across these RV parks with many remaining open year-round. Cell service can be problematic in this region, particularly at Hidden Cove where visitors note that "Verizon signal is very sketchy, and non-existent depending on where you are in the campground." Dump stations are available at most parks, though amenities like showers and laundry facilities differ significantly between locations. The more remote RV parks offer quieter settings but require driving 20-30 minutes to reach towns like Cullman for supplies. Many parks near Smith Lake have a significant number of permanent or seasonal residents occupying the prime waterfront sites, potentially limiting availability for short-term RV travelers during peak seasons.

    Bama RV Station

    Good For Quick Overnight Stay

Literally right off the interstate at Tuscaloosa. Much lower noise level than I expected. Definitely a parking lot, without trees. We are in site 9, pretty level gravel site, electric and water hookup only. 2 dump stations are available, 2 dog parks. 30 dollars a night. Mostly long term parking. No firepits or picnic tables. Check in by phone, no office.

    Corinth Recreation Area

    Perfectly Designed for RV Newbies!

Loved this park! It was our first trip in our new Travel Trailer and it couldn't have gone better. We stayed at Yellow Hammer site #9 easy pull through with plenty of room. Not only did all the sites have amazing scenery but the roads were well maintained. Full hookups and AT & T cellphone coverage good enough for working from Trailer. Verizon cellphone coverage didn't work here. Each site fully equipped with fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. Wood available for purchase from host.

Beach & Bath houses were closed due to COVID-19

We spent a lot of time walking with our kids on the trails and riding scooters around the campsite roads. Nature trails were extremely well kept with great views on the water

Best site is Yellow Hammer #17

    Deerlick Creek

    Awesome little campground

Nice level concrete pads with awesome shade. Bath house stayed clean. Nice 1/2 mile asphalt bike/walking trail. Hiking trail with hills and valleys skirting the lake. Boat ramp with easy access to the lake. Convenient access to Tuscaloosa for supplies, eating or just a change of scenery. Some site are smaller than others and some are pull through. Highly recommend.

    Cherokee Campground

More of a Long Term Living Area

Most of the pads were filled with long-term residents. The owners were very nice. The rate was reasonable. Our gravel pad was not wide enough to be a) level and b) slide/awning out at the same time. The electric hook-up was at the opposite end of the pad from the water and sewer hook-ups. Some neighbors were friendly, others were a bit suspicious of us as interlopers based on how many times they walked past our area. Overall, would only stay again in a pinch.

    Oak Mountain State Park Campground

    Updates please

At the regular campground, there’s only 30amp connections. Some have sewer and some not. There is no camp wifi. Swimming is quit a distance from campground.

The campground at the stables are pull through and 50 amp and full hookups.

    Thousand Trails Hidden Cove

    Bring your boat

This RV park is right on a lake, but a bit away from anything else. If you have any sort of boat, kayak, paddle board, bring it! There is hiking about an hour away at the Bankhead National Forest.

You can pick your spot when you arrive. I like that.

A and B sections are the original sections. C section is brand new with 50 amps hookup. All the big rigs there.

I was on C74 with a great backyard overlooking the hills.

Bathhouse is brand new and squeaky clean. You can see that almost no-one uses the campground shower because one of them doesn’t have a curtain to separate your dry clothes from the water. And neither of them have a caddy or any spot where you can put your soap.

Pool was not open when I was here in April which was a shame. It was hot enough. I would have enjoyed a swim, especially so we there is not much else to do. I don’t have a boat yet. 🙁

    A decent Thousand Trails campground.

I had no reception with Verizon but my AT&T hotspot had good reception.

    Sunset RV

    Bright light and road noise

Stopped for an overnight on our way home to Atlanta from a trip out west. Not much of a park. Most sites are long term or semi permanent. Only 6 available for regular RV. Water, 30/50 amp electric & sewer There is a small laundry room The office wasn’t open but we had reservations and had received an email about our site and directions. WiFi was poor. It is right off of I-20 so there was lots of road noise all night. There was a very bright vapor light above our site that lit up the whole area. There is a small dog walking area.

    Rickwood Caverns State Park Campground

The cave is the star attraction

This is a very small campground- 13 improved sites (nine of these have 50 amp electric and can accommodate all sizes of rigs; four are designed for smaller units and have 30 amp electric) plus five primitive sites, which have communal water only (no electric). There is zero privacy/separation between the improved sites, which would make the unimproved sites possibly more appealing (but further from the restroom and it was pouring when we were there). Improved sites are gravel and include a BBQ, fire ring, and a very large picnic table. Rates are $16 for a primitive site/$29 for an improved site plus a $4.75 processing fee for the first night of your stay. Senior discounts are given.

The restrooms are functional and clean but basic. There was a leak in the roof from the pouring rain that could pose a slipping hazard.

There are a large picnic pavilion and two short hiking trails of about a mile each. We hiked the Fossil Mountain trail, which is very rocky. The main draw to this park is the cave. Tours are offered four times daily, January through November. If you camp, you receive a discount on the tour. The tour is worth doing.

    Thousand Trails Hidden Cove

    Nice, clean, quite campground

Excellent campground. Staff was very friendly. This is a spacious campground and easy to navigate even with a big rig. Loop C is newer than A & B loops. Plenty of amenities, pool, basketball court, disc golf, nice clubhouse with pool tables and other games/lounging, Lewis Smith Lake, nice playground, horseshoes, a lake overlook with gazebo and mini golf though it was missing the artificial grass, not sure if it closed permanently or down for repairs. Cullman has the Ave Maria Grotto, a definite must see IMO, Huntsville has the US Space and rocket museum and Redstone Arsenal Army Base. I didn’t get to it but Birmingham has the Civil Rights Institute and the 16th Street Baptist Church and Tupelo is Elvis’s birthplace.

Facilities in my loop are very nice and clean. There is a boat launch and nice dock and a small waterfall behind it as well. Jasper and Cullman are the closest cities, about a 20-30 minute drive. There is a nearby gas station and Dollar General.

Verizon signal is very sketchy, and non existent depending on where you are in the campground. I was able to make calls but that was it. They do have wifi, free at the clubhouse and a couple other spots. The have campground wide wifi that you can pay for, I stayed for a week and it was $14.95. They have other lengths of time to choose from. It was pretty good for me, Internet usage was good, FaceTime calls were ok ish, cut in and out but phone calls were fine.

Sites are gravel, full hook up, and there are 5 tent camping sites. Minor leveling needed for my spot. There are quite a few permanent campers in the good spots with views of the lake, that was kind of a bummer but not detrimental. Site was very large, enough for another camper to fit. It had a nice fire pit ring that doubled as a grill you could flip over and use and had a picnic table. Some birds and squirrels, nothing exciting. Overall, very nice, clean and quiet campground, would recommend visit again.

Cell service limitations: Connectivity varies significantly across RV sites near Jasper. "I had no reception with Verizon but my AT&T hotspot had good reception," reports Mara S. about Hidden Cove. Tips for camping with families

However, one camper noted, "The wood on the playground needs to be replaced and the grass really needed cut."

Stargazing opportunities: The rural setting provides excellent night sky viewing. "Huge field with little light pollution to stargaze," notes Chris about Bama Campground & RV Park, describing it as "a great site tucked in the woods, very private area."

Accessibility considerations: Evaluate how far you'll need to travel for activities. "Pool was not open when I was here in April which was a shame. It was hot enough. I would have enjoyed a swim, especially so we there is not much else to do. I don't have a boat yet," mentions Mara S.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Site conditions vary across campgrounds. At Hoover Met Complex RV Park, "The pads are very uneven and there are just not many amenities," according to Chris S. Meanwhile, a visitor to controller works notes, "Junior will meet you at the entrance and escort you to your site" and "had me back up in the gravel space until we were very level."

Easy access options: Some RV parks near Jasper prioritize convenience for large rigs. "There are about eight sights all gravel and level. The back in sites have a nice deck beside your parking spot. There are also a few pull thrus for longer rigs or those who do not want to unhook," explains Jeff T. about controller works.

Overnight stay value: Several parks provide economical options for travelers passing through. "This is a very nice place for an overnight stay. If your looking for amenities, this is not the place for you. Clean, nice management, easy in and out. Full hook ups, including water sewer, electric and cable for $29/a night," notes Shilo B. about Sunset RV.

Long-term availability: Many permanent residents occupy prime locations at some campgrounds. "Sadly every spot you might be a le to see the lake from was already taken by what seems to be someone living there full time," observes Larry T. about Hidden Cove.
