    SUMMARY PRESENTED BYT-Mobile

Several RV parks provide overnight and extended-stay options near Cordova, Alabama. Thousand Trails Hidden Cove in Arley offers full hookup sites with 50-amp service, accommodating both large and standard RVs approximately 35 miles from Cordova. Bama Campground & RV Park features 28 sites with both 30-amp and 50-amp electrical connections alongside water and sewer hookups. Appalachian Foothills RV Park in Winfield includes big-rig friendly sites with full hookups and allows campfires on its gravel pads. The sites in newer campground sections typically offer more space between neighbors. "The pull through spots were great and level," noted one visitor about Hidden Cove, though others mentioned limited cell service.

Smith Lake serves as the recreation focal point for multiple RV campgrounds in the region. Many parks maintain gated access with secure entry codes provided upon reservation. Cell service varies significantly throughout the area - Verizon coverage is particularly spotty at Hidden Cove while AT&T connections remain more reliable for remote work needs. Despite rural locations, most parks offer clean bathroom facilities and sanitary dump stations. Some travelers report difficulty finding available waterfront sites, as many prime locations are occupied by seasonal or permanent residents. Winter camping remains available at several parks, though amenities like pools typically close during colder months. Pets are permitted at most facilities, but designated off-leash areas are uncommon.

      Quail Creek RV Resort

      Quiet and Peaceful

The campground is tucked back off the freeway and is very quiet and peaceful. It provides you a level space with picnic tables, concrete pads and fire rings. You can buy firewood and they have a bath house and laundry. It has excellent WIFI. The campground is on a golf course and has an Inn right on the course. There is a great playground and dog area. There are some long term campers here but it is clean and everyone was very friendly. Be careful driving here the road is very narrow and no shoulders. We met a school bus on the road and ended up having to go into the pit next to the road to avoid the bus that was in our lane😳.
I would definitely recommend this campground for families or people who are full time RVers!

      Bama RV Station

      Good For Quick Overnight Stay

Literally right off the interstate at Tuscaloosa. Much lower noise level than I expected. Definitely a parking lot, without trees. We are in site 9, pretty level gravel site, electric and water hookup only. 2 dump stations are available, 2 dog parks. 30 dollars a night. Mostly long term parking. No firepits or picnic tables. Check in by phone, no office.

      Corinth Recreation Area

      Perfectly Designed for RV Newbies!

Loved this park! It was our first trip in our new Travel Trailer and it couldn't have gone better. We stayed at Yellow Hammer site #9 easy pull through with plenty of room. Not only did all the sites have amazing scenery but the roads were well maintained. Full hookups and AT & T cellphone coverage good enough for working from Trailer. Verizon cellphone coverage didn't work here. Each site fully equipped with fire ring, picnic table, and lantern poles. Wood available for purchase from host.

Beach & Bath houses were closed due to COVID-19

We spent a lot of time walking with our kids on the trails and riding scooters around the campsite roads. Nature trails were extremely well kept with great views on the water

Best site is Yellow Hammer #17

      Deerlick Creek

      Awesome little campground

Nice level concrete pads with awesome shade. Bath house stayed clean. Nice 1/2 mile asphalt bike/walking trail. Hiking trail with hills and valleys skirting the lake. Boat ramp with easy access to the lake. Convenient access to Tuscaloosa for supplies, eating or just a change of scenery. Some site are smaller than others and some are pull through. Highly recommend.

      Cherokee Campground

More of a Long Term Living Area

Most of the pads were filled with long-term residents. The owners were very nice. The rate was reasonable. Our gravel pad was not wide enough to be a) level and b) slide/awning out at the same time. The electric hook-up was at the opposite end of the pad from the water and sewer hook-ups. Some neighbors were friendly, others were a bit suspicious of us as interlopers based on how many times they walked past our area. Overall, would only stay again in a pinch.

      Oak Mountain State Park Campground

      Updates please

At the regular campground, there’s only 30amp connections. Some have sewer and some not. There is no camp wifi. Swimming is quit a distance from campground.

The campground at the stables are pull through and 50 amp and full hookups.

      Thousand Trails Hidden Cove

      Bring your boat

This RV park is right on a lake, but a bit away from anything else. If you have any sort of boat, kayak, paddle board, bring it! There is hiking about an hour away at the Bankhead National Forest.

You can pick your spot when you arrive. I like that.

A and B sections are the original sections. C section is brand new with 50 amps hookup. All the big rigs there.

I was on C74 with a great backyard overlooking the hills.

Bathhouse is brand new and squeaky clean. You can see that almost no-one uses the campground shower because one of them doesn’t have a curtain to separate your dry clothes from the water. And neither of them have a caddy or any spot where you can put your soap.

Pool was not open when I was here in April which was a shame. It was hot enough. I would have enjoyed a swim, especially so we there is not much else to do. I don’t have a boat yet. 🙁

      A decent Thousand Trails campground.

I had no reception with Verizon but my AT&T hotspot had good reception.

      Sunset RV

      Bright light and road noise

Stopped for an overnight on our way home to Atlanta from a trip out west. Not much of a park. Most sites are long term or semi permanent. Only 6 available for regular RV. Water, 30/50 amp electric & sewer There is a small laundry room The office wasn’t open but we had reservations and had received an email about our site and directions. WiFi was poor. It is right off of I-20 so there was lots of road noise all night. There was a very bright vapor light above our site that lit up the whole area. There is a small dog walking area.

      Rickwood Caverns State Park Campground

The cave is the star attraction

This is a very small campground- 13 improved sites (nine of these have 50 amp electric and can accommodate all sizes of rigs; four are designed for smaller units and have 30 amp electric) plus five primitive sites, which have communal water only (no electric). There is zero privacy/separation between the improved sites, which would make the unimproved sites possibly more appealing (but further from the restroom and it was pouring when we were there). Improved sites are gravel and include a BBQ, fire ring, and a very large picnic table. Rates are $16 for a primitive site/$29 for an improved site plus a $4.75 processing fee for the first night of your stay. Senior discounts are given.

The restrooms are functional and clean but basic. There was a leak in the roof from the pouring rain that could pose a slipping hazard.

There are a large picnic pavilion and two short hiking trails of about a mile each. We hiked the Fossil Mountain trail, which is very rocky. The main draw to this park is the cave. Tours are offered four times daily, January through November. If you camp, you receive a discount on the tour. The tour is worth doing.

RV camping near Cordova offers travelers relatively easy access to outdoor activities year-round due to Alabama's mild winters, though summer humidity can be considerable from June through September.

    What to do

Hiking nearby trails: Visitors at Bama Campground & RV Park can explore multiple trails on the property or venture to Bankhead National Forest. "This is a great little campground tucked away on the edge of Bankhead National Forest. The location of the campground makes it an excellent location to enjoy the numerous waterfall hikes in the area," notes Jennifer H.

Lake activities: Thousand Trails Hidden Cove provides direct access to Smith Lake. "Big campground. Great guess service. Staff friendly. Spot are very bigs and a good distance between them. Full hookup sites. Amenitied are very cleans, kids play grounds. Park for walking, biking, use your boat and kayak, boat ramp access," reports Milagros B.

Visit Natural Bridge: The natural bridge formation near Togetherness Works RV Park makes for an interesting day trip. "We loved this place, a little off the heating path but well worth it. You must check out the nature bridge nearby as well as the Houston jail," recommends Nathan W.

    What campers like

Affordable options: Most campgrounds in the area offer competitive pricing. "Just a big parking lot but had full hookup and clean," explains Maureen L. about the Hoover Met Complex RV Park, which serves as a budget-friendly base for exploring the greater Birmingham area.

Privacy between sites: Newer sections at various campgrounds feature improved spacing. "The sites were large and bathrooms were very clean. Cell service is spotty so either have a mobile data setup or by the local connection for your stay," says Nathan W. about Hidden Cove.

Clean facilities: Togetherness Works RV Park maintains excellent bathhouse conditions according to multiple reviews. "Nice clean laundry and baths. Nice location on Smith lake. Sites were roomy," states Ronald R. The park owner built many facilities using lumber milled from trees on the property.

    What you should know

Cell coverage limitations: Internet connectivity varies significantly between campgrounds. "I had no reception with Verizon but my AT&T hotspot had good reception," reports Mara S. about her stay at Hidden Cove. Many remote workers need to plan accordingly.

Limited waterfront availability: Prime lakefront sites fill quickly. "Sadly every spot you might be able to see the lake from was already taken by what seems to be someone living there full time," notes Larry T. about Hidden Cove.

Road conditions: Some parks have challenging access roads. "Be careful driving here the road is very narrow and no shoulders. We met a school bus on the road and ended up having to go into the pit next to the road to avoid the bus that was in our lane," warns Alisa P. about Quail Creek RV Resort.

    Tips for camping with families

Playground availability: Several campgrounds offer play areas for children. "The campground has hiking trails on the property if you don't have time to visit Bankhead NF. If you're in the area or wanting to spend time in Bankhead NF I'd recommend checking this campground out," explains Jennifer H. about Bama Campground.

Swimming options: Palomino RV Resort features water recreation areas suitable for families. "We stop for an overnight stay. The park was very clean and the employees were super nice. There was a swimming pond, a fishing pond, basketball & tennis court, fire pit, picnic tables," describes Crystal H.

Kid-friendly facilities: Indoor options for rainy days exist at some parks. "The clubhouse was very nice and had a lot for kids to do as well," mentions Kara S. This provides alternatives when outdoor activities aren't possible.

    Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Many sites require adjustments for proper leveling. "The pads are very uneven and there are just not many amenities. Very close to sports fields though," notes Chris S. about Hoover Met Complex RV Park.

Site selection strategy: Appalachian Foothills RV Park offers various site options with different advantages. "This is a well laid out park for the back in sites, we stayed in the back in a new area under construction so it wasn't as nice but we knew that coming in. The host was fantastic in giving me all that information before we arrived," explains Russ G.

Navigation challenges: Some parks have tricky exit routes that require caution. "When we departed, heading back towards the interstate, you come to a stop sign. Our RV GPS and Waze wanted us to turn right on Mt. Zion Rd instead of going left as we did when we arrived. We took the right turn, and about the time the trailer swung, we saw the drop-off into the ditch," warns MickandKarla W. about departing from Quail Creek RV Resort.
