Best Dog-Friendly Camping near Lingle, WY

Pioneer Park provides concrete pads with water and electric hookups for pet owners camping in Torrington, located 16 miles from Lingle. The $20 nightly fee includes access to a dump station and picnic tables throughout the park area. Dog poops are present in some areas of the campgrounds, requiring careful attention when walking pets. Grayrocks Reservoir Public Access Area offers dispersed pet-friendly camping with more privacy and natural surroundings. City Slickers RV Park and Pony Soldier RV Park both accommodate pets with full hookup sites, though City Slickers operates on a gravel surface with minimal shade for animals during summer months.

Trails near the Grayrocks Reservoir provide opportunities for dog walking along the shoreline, though mosquitoes and biting flies can be problematic during summer months. Pet owners should note the variable weather conditions, as the reservoir area experiences significant wind that can affect tent camping with animals. The reservoir's dispersed camping areas allow dogs to enjoy waterfront access, though bacterial warnings occasionally affect water quality. Pet waste disposal is limited at most sites, so campers should pack waste bags and be prepared to carry out all pet waste. Leashed pets can access the North Platte River areas near Pioneer Park for cooling off during hot summer days.

    Riverside Park Campground

    Great location

Quiet campground, close to grocery shopping, gasoline, main street Scottsbluff, or Gering not far away. Scottsbluff National Monument 5.3 miles and Frontline bar & grill 1 mile away. Near to fenced small/big dog park, and next to Riverside Discovery Center. Great WiFi, full hookups available and tent camping. Older campground but nice.

    Captain Critters Country Campground

    Nice small basic RV park

The manager Sue is amazing and is doing what she can to update and make sure everyone is happy. Small all gravel park, spaced rather close to each other but it works. Mostly surrounded by trees to help with wind. Small dog park and I believe there was a swing set as well.

    Riverside Park Campground

    Many options right on site

This is a campground with many options. There is a playground, trails, a dog park, and a beautiful view, most of all. There are options for just electric/water or sewer, too. The reason for four stars: 1. There are a couple of VERY unsightly RVs that appear to be permanent. (Even shattered windows!) 2. Internet was for the most part unavailable, although our technology recognized its presence.

    BJ's Campground

I had a great overnight stay.

There are only a few places to stay in this town and I was relieved on how safe and clean this facility was. Very nice pull through sights and the bathrooms were extremely clean. Dog park right across the street and big rig friendly. This is a smaller place but very easy to maneuver around no matter what size. Loved the grass at each site. Well taken care of and they paid attention to details making it perfect to stay. Definitely a great place for family or Solo Traveler.

    Riverside Park Campground

    Close to Scottsbluff

Open May 1– October 1. Got the second to last site on a Wednesday in July(you can reserve sites after the campground opens on May 1). We chose this campground for its proximity to Scottsbluff. Although there is a tent site area, the campground was filled mostly with large RVs. The hosts were very friendly and welcoming and even though it was not a large campground, the host escorted us to our site. He offered several times to deliver firewood to us if we wanted. Reasonable cost for sites($10 tent camping,$20 water and electric,$25 for full hook-up). Best sites are the ones at the end of the rows as they have a nice patch of lawn. Alcoholic beverages are permitted but must be consumed inside your rig/tent. WiFi is available but not a strong signal; using our own data worked much better. Restrooms were reasonably clean(accessed via a code) and there are showers. This campground is located within a city park and there are other facilities(fitness trail, dog park, and supposedly a zoo). I did a little exploring but rain was imminent so I didn’t wander far, however, the facilities outside the campground looked like they could have used a little TLC. Of course, there is a nearby train!

    Captain Critters Country Campground

    Right off Hwy 26

Captain Critter Country campground is located right off of highway 26 between Mitchell and Scottsbluff Nebraska. There is a set of train tracks on the other side of highway, and the trains blow there horns when they come through. Scared the crud out of me because they were so loud. When you pull into the campground it is obvious real quickly that it is in need of some TLC. There are spray painted tires around saplings throughout the campground. Along with spray painted numbers on the electrical boxes and in need of some clean up. There are bright yellow buckets over the water spigots. One of the reasons we stopped was because it advertised a fruit orchard and veggie garden that we could pick from to eat. So I set off walking to find these. The fruit orchard is non existent. On brochure given said it was coming. And the veggie garden was very overgrown with weeds couldn’t tell if anything was planted in most of it. I passed by a once swimming pool that is beyond repair. With that being said the owner is super nice and the campground has 36 full hook up sites with more being made. We paid $35 for the night. The lanes are cutely named -Bunny Blvd,Critter Court, Deer Drive, Fox Fairway, and Gopher Gateway to name a few. The dog park is a nice size and has water bowls for the pups and deflated balls to play with. There is a small backyard swing set for kids and areas with trees that provide shade. The bathroom and showers are closed due to Covid. A lot of the campers look like full timers, and I did not see any tent areas.

    Prairie View Campground

    Great Little Campground

Such a great campground just outside of Lusk WY. Pull through sites that are full hookup. Very clean bathrooms and showers (newly remodeled). Also have laundry services. Campground owners are super friendly and helpful. Also a very pet friendly place. They have WiFi that works pretty good. Have had to use my hotspot some when it cuts out. If looking for places to walk there is about a .2 mile loop around the campground, a rest stop 1/2 a mile away with a walking path and also a gravel road across the highway from the campground that barely has traffic. Town has a nice grocery and hardware store. People here are super friendly. Only downside is that it is along a busy highway so you hear some road noise but if you’re in a trailer with windows closed it isn’t very noticeable. Has been a great experience!

    Mountain View Park

    Nice place to stop

We stopped at the RV park on our drive home and stay for a night. Nice white box with hook ups for water and for power and a nice laundry room close by an offer less than 50 bucks. Scenery off of interstate in Wheatland, Wyoming, it’s not all that pretty but it’s a great place to stay on a drive through Wyoming.

    Chuck Wagon RV Park

    Terrible terrible customer service

Very small dirty park located 15 ft away from rail road . Commercial Trains goes all night and day with loud horn. High voltage tower is right next to park .Dog poops are everywhere . Site 11&12 are between 2 residential ( broken fence, very threshed scene). $35 per night but for Passport America discount she raised to $44.50 plus 12.25% tax charged . We were questioned about this tricky pricing , she has absolutely rude, nasty, attitude and said I can give you money back just leave . They Don’t know how to talk to guest nor doesn’t care guest relationship. Highly not recommend this place for surroundings, terrible customer service , not honest business ethic.

Guide to Lingle

Lingle sits at 4,167 feet elevation in southeastern Wyoming, where the North Platte River creates a riparian corridor through otherwise semi-arid prairie. Summer temperatures average 85°F during day and 55°F at night, with occasional thunderstorms common from July through September. Wind is a constant companion at most local camping areas, particularly at reservoir sites.

What to do

Water recreation at Grayrocks Reservoir: This public access area offers fishing, swimming, and boating options for campers and their pets. One visitor noted, "Lots of other campers in view but not bothered by anyone! we had our own private beach."

Historical exploration near Guernsey: Visit nearby Oregon Trail Ruts and Register Cliff while camping at Guernsey State Park Campground. "Interesting history/museum. Some short trails. Bring bug spray," reports one camper.

Golfing at Larson Park: The campground connects directly to the Guernsey golf course. "Larson Park Campground is a city owned campground and is attached to the Guernsey golf course, so if you like to golf this one might just be for you," mentions a visitor who enjoyed the convenience.

What campers like

Affordable city park camping: Torrington's Pioneer Park offers excellent value. "We got a drive thru site with water & 50 amp. Plenty of room for our 40' class a and dingy. No sewer hookup, but a dump station on site. Plenty of shade trees and it's a short walk to the river. First come, first serve. At $20, it's a deal!"

Waterfront dispersed camping: Grayrocks Reservoir Public Access provides prime lakeside spots. "We found a spot right on the lakeside which was secluded from everyone. If you are looking for trees, this is not the place. Bring lots of water toys," advises a recent camper.

Family-friendly amenities: Local parks provide recreational facilities beyond just camping. "Nice site with water & electric. Good spacing between sites. Clean and open. Nice to walk about the whole area. Concrete bean bag toss games and about 5 horseshoe pitches. Bring your own toys. Basketball court and kids playground as part of the whole park."

What you should know

Weather considerations: High winds affect camping comfort, particularly at open sites. "It can be noisy if neighbors are running generators but otherwise very nice," notes a camper at Two Moon campground.

Limited shade at some locations: Several campgrounds offer minimal tree cover. "Sites were nicely spread out for a major CG. Most near water had trees. Ones in middle not much shade," reports a Guernsey State Park visitor.

Train noise: Several campgrounds sit near active train tracks. At Lewis Park, "there are a few Union Pacific freight trains that pass right by the campground per day, but we didn't find that to be as bothersome as we expected."

Water quality alerts: Monitor reservoir conditions before swimming. "Beware of the water. There was some sort of bacteria warning when we visited. Other than that, there was privacy, tons of open air, and a beautiful view."

Tips for camping with families

Community park advantages: Lewis Park offers free camping with many amenities. "Great little community park that offers RV and tent sites for free. Well maintained city park with community pool, mini golf, playground, grills, tennis courts and skatepark."

Budget-friendly options: Several parks charge minimal fees. "Peaceful spot with electric, water, and restrooms for $20," notes a camper at Pioneer Park.

Recreation variety: Two Moon — Glendo State Park provides diverse activities. "Glendo Lake is a great place to go with the family to get away! There is fishing, hiking, beautiful views, and it's peaceful. The camp grounds are nicely put together."

Playground access: Several campgrounds feature play areas. "The park included a nice little miniature golf course, tennis courts, a skateboard park, pavilions, a small amphitheater and playground equipment."

Tips from RVers

Hookup options: Full service sites exist at select locations. "Pony Soldier RV Park personnel were very friendly. Parking is on dirt but it's level and well packed sand. Full hookups at each site. Everything is clean and well manicured. Electric pedestals, water spigots, and sewer hookups are in excellent condition and easy to use."

Dump station access: Even partial hookup sites often provide dump facilities. "This is a city owned park with water and electric. Concrete pad. First come first serve for $20 a night," explains a visitor to Pioneer Park.

Big rig accommodation: Several parks can handle larger vehicles. At Pony Soldier RV Park, "there are 52 RV Sites ranging from Electric and water to full hook ups. The sites for the most part are level and gravel and some shade."

Arrival timing: Dog friendly campgrounds near Lingle often fill quickly during summer weekends. "Arrive Thursday or Friday AM to get a decent spot," advises a Grayrocks Reservoir camper.
