Best RV Parks & Resorts near Deerbrook, WI

RV parks near Deerbrook provide a range of hookup options and site configurations. Northern Hideaway RV Park in Pearson operates from mid-April to mid-October with electric hookups, fifty-amp service, and sanitary dump facilities. Mohican North Star RV Park in Bowler accommodates big rigs with full hookups including water, electric, sewer, and fifty-amp service from April through November. Boulder Lake Campground in Lakewood features spacious sites with electric, water hookups, and big rig access, operating May through November. Several parks offer concrete pads while others maintain gravel sites with varying degrees of levelness. "The basic amenities are here, picnic table, fire pit, bath house with showers within walking distance, electrical (30amp) and water hookups, but don't expect them to be 5 star quality, they are there, they are functional, that's about all you can say," noted one camper about Moen Lake Campground.

Seasonal considerations significantly impact RV camping in this region, with most parks closing between October and April. Dump stations are available at most facilities, though some parks like Tomahawk Campground lack on-site sewer hookups at individual sites. Cell service varies considerably throughout the area, with stronger signals near larger towns and limited connectivity in more remote locations. Pet policies generally allow dogs with standard leash requirements. Many campgrounds feature additional amenities such as firewood sales, shower facilities, and trash service, though availability differs between parks. Road access to most RV parks involves paved highways with occasional gravel approaches. Several campgrounds in the Nicolet National Forest area require navigation through winding forest roads that may challenge larger motorhomes during inclement weather.

Holly Wood Hill Campground & Crandon Saloon Event Center

    Clean and Fun

    • Yards on the lower sites are large, lots of room with concrete pads, but power/water hookups at lower sites are designed for motorhomes, not travel trailers
    • Yards on upper sites are cramped and unlevel
    • Taco Truck on site has amazing food!
    • The campground is ATV/UTV friendly but the area “trails” are gravel roads except the ATV park east of Crandon
    • Dump site is unlevel and leans away from hose hookup making it difficult to fully flush holding tanks
    • Driveway to get in and out of dump site is rough and quite tight for a camper longer than 35ft to maneuver around
    • On July 4th wknd we paid $60/night for water and power hookup, a little steep for not having full hookups

    Indian Shores

Indian Shores - a worthy desination in Wisconsin’s Northwoods

This is a larger campground with a good mix of seasonal and weekend campsites. The majority of the weekend campsites are located near the prime activity locations; the pool, playground and lake areas. There are full sun and full shade sites available. The Shady sites are amongst the evergreens, so they tend to be sandier. The full sun sites are all grass. All of the sites have a gravel pad to park on; the exception to this are the lakeside sites which are concrete pads. There is a camp store and a good sized bar & grill. The weekend we were here it rained non-stop, so we did not get to use any of the available canoe/kayak/fishing boat/pontoon boat rentals. We did make ample use of the mini-golf, playground, and heated swimming pool though. The pool was warm enough that even the non-stop rain did not cool it down enough to be uncomfortable. The seasonal campers I met and talked with were all friendly and did not have the “why are you here” attitude I occasionally come across when staying at seasonal heavy resorts. I did see several people fishing in the rain and pulling keepers out of the lake to be cleaned and cooked. They were fishing from the docks. Our kids are 7 & 10 and they were never bored. There were a couple trails within the campground that were good for nature hikes. If it were a little closer to home, this campground would be on the shortlist of places to have a seasonal site at.

    Governor Thompson State Park Campground

    Private!

Park is located in the Peshtigo River state forest. Pet friendly!! Your pets are aloud on trails and with you at your campsite. They must be on a 6 ft leash. The park is beautiful. What surprised me the most was the pit toliets that looked like tiny houses. Pictures are attached. There is a small lake which is great for kayak and swimming. This park also has a boat launch onto the Cauldron Falls Reservoir. I've attached photos of the map. Almost all the campsites are private and hidden away in their own little spots. There are a few hiking trails which i enjoyed spending time on. If you go down the street a bit you will find Old Veterans state park which has a secluded quiet lake and beach. I spent an afternoon at the beach and never saw a soul. There is not a camp store. The only thing you can buy at the park is firewood.

FR 2140 Dispersed off Hidden Lakes Trail

    Nice Spot in National forest

Winter camped here, was a nice spot pic nik table, fire ring, wilderness toilet. There is hiking trail access from campsite, but no water access to butternut lake or it would have been 5 star. There is access down the road.Did get one bar of cell (cricket) full with 20 foot ant. Note I've been through here in summer and the road is gravel very dusty from traffic.

    Shawano County Park

First stay at this campground and would definitely go back

Stayed for the first time at this campground in July and loved it. We stayed on a tent site, it was huge and had electric. I love that the campground is right on the lake and there’s quite a few amenities for people who boat. It is pet friendly and the bathrooms are quite a walk but clean and hot water is available.

Guide to Deerbrook

Campgrounds around Deerbrook, Wisconsin offer diverse terrain and accessibility options beyond standard hookups. This northwoods region experiences severe winter closures, with most facilities shutting down between November and April. Sites range from heavily wooded locations with significant shade to more exposed, sunny areas on lakeshores, with many campgrounds featuring direct water access.

What to do

Paddle accessible waters: Boulder Lake Campground features a shallow, sandy shoreline that's ideal for launching kayaks and canoes. "The shore was pretty level and easy to get our kayaks in and out. The shore is shallow and mostly sand. Nice for swimming. We did catch one bass off the shore," notes a camper at Boulder Lake.

Explore hiking trails: Council Grounds State Park offers multiple trail options connecting camping areas to the beach and Wisconsin River. "There are all the hookups you need... You can kayak down the river past the dam to and avoid the other boating area. That's where all the motor boats go," explains one visitor to Council Grounds State Park Campground.

Try disc golf: Langlade County Veterans Memorial Park features an excellent course among its many recreation options. "This county park hits all the important stuff. Great sites. Electric sites. Nice restrooms with flush toilets/showers. Store. Fireword on site. Clear water for swimming and no motorized boats. Playground, sand volleyball court. On the ice age trail. Bike trails. Near ATV trails and they offer disc golf," shares a visitor.

What campers like

Secluded camping spots: River Forest Campground provides peaceful sites along the water. "We arrived on a Sunday and probably missed the crowds, but that was deliberate. Upon arrival the owners greated us and went over everything we needed to know. We arrived with a 34' 5th wheel camper, backing into the spot was tricky but very doable," notes a camper at River Forest Campground And Outdoor Retreats.

Clean facilities: Maple Heights Campground maintains well-kept washrooms and recreation areas. "Showers pool mini-golf. No lake river or fishing," reports a recent visitor to Maple Heights Campground.

Winter activities: Some campgrounds in the area remain open for cold-weather recreation. At Langlade County Veterans Memorial Park, a winter camper reports: "Loved the whole experience, the cold, the snow, the hammock camping. Quite an event!"

What you should know

Site selection matters: Different spots within the same campground can offer dramatically different experiences. "Be aware the sites to the east are higher elevation and looked like it was steep to get down to the water... The waterfront sites are on the main road, so you do hear all the RVs coming and going," cautions a Boulder Lake visitor.

Firewood restrictions: Wisconsin has beetle control regulations that limit outside firewood. "Apparently there have been beetle issues in Wisconsin and most campgrounds require you to buy your firewood locally or on-site," notes a camper.

Seasonal crowds: Langlade County Veterans Memorial Park can get noisy during peak times. "Leave the loud pets and noisey illegal moterbikeos ah home no nature here," complains one visitor seeking quiet.

Tips for camping with families

Beach access for kids: Several rv sites near Deerbrook, Wisconsin feature child-friendly swimming areas. "Fun for tiny tots, but too small for older kids. If you like hiking, fins a different destination," notes a visitor to Council Grounds State Park.

Spacious group sites: Council Grounds offers designated group camping areas. "For this particular trip, we reserved group sites A and B. They each have concrete pads for 3 campers and TONS of space to spread out and/or set up tents. Non-flush toilets in between the two sites on opposite side of the campsites," explains one group leader.

Insect awareness: Some trails have seasonal insect issues. "Beautiful hiking trails, but watch out for the biting deer flies as the sun goes down! Three kids got attacked in one of the trails and had huge welts and lots of tears," warns a family camper.

Tips from RVers

Site leveling: Boulder Lake receives positive reviews for level sites from RV campers. "Very cool campground! We stayed in site 18, non electrical but right across from the bath house which was always clean! And the views and the level sites, didn't even need the levelers!" notes a visitor with a larger rig.

Limited sewer connections: Most camping locations near Deerbrook offer electric and water, but full-hookup sites are scarce. "The site has no sewer but we have large enough holding tanks where that is not a issue," mentions an RV owner staying at Mohican North Star RV Park, where spots are "a little open but good sized capsite."

Storm preparation: Weather can create drainage issues at some campgrounds. "We did have a huge storm during our stay that created a river in our site - so tent campers may want to chose wisely," warns a visitor to Council Grounds, where sites are generally "wooded and offer plenty of shade."
