CAMPER SUMMARY PRESENTED BYFord

Black River Falls provides several RV-focused camping options with varied amenities and site configurations. Hideaway RV Park & Campground offers 40 sites with electric hookups and accommodates RVs alongside limited tent camping areas. Whiskey Creek Family RV Park features 55 sites with full hookups, including both 50-amp and 30-amp electric service, and welcomes big rigs with pull-through access. Sites at Stoney Creek RV Resort in Osseo provide 110 spacious RV spots with full hookups including water, sewer, and 50-amp electric service on well-maintained grounds with paved internal roads. "The sites are grassy or gravel and are very roomy and level. Lots of activities for the kids...basketball, horseshoes, volleyball, sizeable pool, and playground."

Seasonal availability varies across campgrounds in the region, with most facilities operating between April and November. Pine View Campground at Fort McCoy and Russell Memorial Park in Merrillan remain operational year-round with hookups and dump stations accessible to traveling RVs. Most parks in the area accommodate pets and offer amenities such as showers, restrooms, and trash service. Cell service can be inconsistent throughout the Black River Falls area, with reviewers noting "1-2 bars on AT+T" at some locations. Campgrounds near highway access points tend to fill quickly, particularly those offering concrete pads and spacious pull-through sites for larger motorhomes and fifth wheels.

    Neshonoc Lakeside

    Old school camping fun

This is a huge campground. It feels like a true old-school “campground” not an rv resort or even an RV park. The kind of campground you loved as a kid. It is hilly with mature trees, although not every site has shade. It is very family friendly. There are RV sites, cabins, tent sites and park models. A lot of long term people live here. The sites are grassy or gravel and are very roomy and level. Lots of activities for the kids…basketball, horseshoes, volleyball, sizeable pool, and playground. This place is older but very clean. Very friendly staff. The lake is absolutely stunning. Snag a spot with a lake view if you can! (See map pic). 1-2 bars on AT+T.

Great value as a TT member

This campground came to us through Thousand Trails Collection.  At first we only had a W/E site and later was able to move to a full hook up site.  All sites has a gravel pad with a grass yard, fire ring, and picnic table.  The fire rings are sunk completely into the ground for some reason.  The lots were spacious and the property offered a large pool, hot tub, restrooms, showers, laundry room, fishing and canoeing.  This is a pet friendly park.

    Russell Memorial Park

    Beautiful lake/creek front

The camp has a lot of long term sites on the waterfront so getting on one usually gets you into spring and camping. The waterfront has mostly electric only sites and run very close to size. We have a 28 5th wheel and we're snug. Site said 25 ft but the picture had a 5'er on it so we booked it. The back sites are ATV/UTV site. They have good access to the trails. They seem a bit bigger. I've seen a few toy haulers back there. There are a few full hookup in the center of the campground but not many. The shower and restrooms were clean. There are larger sites just not all waterfront. We like to travel too much to have a permanent site yet, so we try to come spring and fall here

    Pettibone Resort

Nice park on Miss River in LaCrosse

Pettibone is a nice park on an island in the Mississippi River in LaCrosse. Being from Louisiana it was cool to camp right beside the Mississippi River since we have levees between us and the river. We stayed one night on our way to Minnesota. There is plenty of shade. The park streets are asphalt with two concrete strips for your tires in the sites. The park was quiet except when someone decided to shoot fireworks between 10-11 pm. A little pricey at$54 considering there were no sewer hookups.

Stayed in pull-through campsite#308 which was shady. It was a grass site with two concrete strips for my TT tires. There was more than enough parking for my TT and truck and grass on either side. The site included: picnic table on a concrete pad. Utilities were located in the rear. 20A/30A electric and water. Site was a little unlevel. Neighbors are close.

AT&T had 2-3 bars of LTE and Verizon 1 bars of LTE service. AT&T Speedtest: 146 Mbps down, 4.8 Mbps up. Verizon Speedtest: 016 Mbps down, 0.14 Mbps up. Free WiFi.

Would stay here again. We camped at Pettibone Resort in a Travel Trailer.

    Russell Memorial Park

    Great ATV access

We stayed with a group for Memorial weekend. We have such a great time. Some of our group was tent camping and said the showers were nice and hot but tended to be a little muddy after awhile. Our site was a little hard to get into. We stayed at site 116 with a 40 ft 5th wheel. I would recommend booking early to get a better spot for a big rig. That spot would be easier to get our 30 ft travel trailer into. Water filling stations are all over the campground. It was our first time and we though the dump area was the water station. It was not. Other than that we would definitely recommend.

119 is paved ada 116 can fit a TT and atv trailer comfortably 115 - tight for a 32 ft travel trailer the trees are very close 132 - the area is below the street level which flooded out with mud

    Goose Island

Can’t miss County camping on the Mississippi

This camp South of Lacrosse Wisconsin is a great family or road tripping camp. Goose Island has very friendly staff and a nice little camp supply store at the entrance where you can also purchase firewood in two sizes of tubes. You’ll need a way to haul the wood to your site. We tent camp so we choose nonpowered sites away from the RV’s. The website refers to the camp as being on the backwater of the Misssippi. What ever it is, it is beautiful and right on the water. Bring the bug spray for the evening becasue the mosquitoes do come out in force. The camp facilities are clean and convenient. There is a small children’s playground and a small swimming area also. The camp was relatively busy in the powered RV area but clean and quite thoughout. It looked like there were some long term RV campers by the looks of their set up. You won’t regret staying at Goose Island.

    Perrot State Park Campground

Picture perfect along the Mississippi River

This campground has beautiful views along the Trempealeau river flowage and the Mississippi River. Campground is along the Trempealeau river, and has river views but not river access. There is no beach on site, which is a downer for families that want to play in the water. The hiking trails are very well marked.

The bathroom and shower facilities are great, and well kept which makes this a great family friendly place.

Castle Mound Campground — Black River State Forest

    Really beautiful state campground

Beautiful, clean, peaceful, wooded campground. Its mid-week and there's only a few other campers here. Most are super respectful with the exception of one group that has the occasional outburst but they were mostly quiet otherwise. We saw some bunnies, birds and raccoons. Heard squirrels, owls and other birds. Vault toilets throughout the campground and one building with showers and flush toilets near the visitor center with plenty of parking. Water fill and dump station located at the front near the visitor station as well. We got here around 6pm yesterday and no one was at the check in so we used the kiosk to get the park pass. A bit steep for out of state visitors @ $16 but they seem to keep the park in great shape so for once it was worth it. Lots of space and shade in all spots. Many sites with electric and some without. Plenty of spots can accommodate mid-large campers. Its about half and half pull-thru or back-in/pull-in. We have a 26 foot travel trailer and had no issues. Mostly level spots as well. A lot of trees are close to the road and made it slightly challenging to maneuver the road but nothing too crazy...just pay attention if you have a larger camper. We dont make it though wisconsin a lot but we'd definitely come back here again. Easy and quick to get to from 94 and less than a mile from Walmart. Plenty of stores/restaurants nearby. Really the only complaint besides the high entrance fee for out of state is that it is close to the town and you can definitely hear traffic. It's not too bad considering the surrounding woods definitely deaden the noise. Wish we could have stayed longer to explore the park better.

What to do

Kayaking on Lake Neshonoc: Visit Neshonoc Lakeside for water activities. "Great place to go kayak, decent place to fish, and good access to bike trail. ATV trail access: Stay at Russell Memorial Park for direct trail connectivity. "We stayed with a group for Memorial weekend. Our site was a little hard to get into. We stayed at site 116 with a 40 ft 5th wheel. Water filling stations are all over the campground."

Fly fishing opportunities: Whiskey Creek Family RV Park offers fishing access along their riverbank. "Enjoyed the nature trails and fly fishing for trout on the riverbank. Very peaceful and relaxing. They also have a beautiful white sand beach around a 1-acre swim pond."

Hiking in the Driftless Region: Explore Wildcat Mountain State Park for scenic trails. "This is a smaller campground but makes up for it with all the access around it. Ice Cave trail was a neat, quick walk. The trails around have gorgeous views of the driftless area and Kickapoo river."

What campers like

Campground personalities: Each location has distinct characteristics. "Lake Neshonoc is a local favorite! There is so much to do in La Crosse county. Tips from RVers

Site accessibility: Many Black River Falls Wisconsin RV parks offer pull-through sites. "All the roads are Blacktop so you don't have gravel dust and the sites are very nice including cement pads and some locations."

Hookup specifics: Pine View Campground features full hookup sites with paved pads. "First time out with the new RV. The sites were paved and level. Nicely wooded and made it easy to setup a hammock as well. The site had full hook ups."
