    Lost Lake Cabins

Cabins only at this location but just down the road is a campground

The road in to the cabin campground is beautiful. Tall trees stand guard as you enter an even more peaceful area than the forest you were driving through.

There is a communal parking area with a few of the cabins in sight. You can reserve the cabins individually or get several for your family or group. You can see some recreation areas near the parking area.

The Lost Lake Campground is just down the road. This has a larger beach and boat launch. The lake is perfect for fishing. There are also several short trails and longer ones nearby.

Drive a bit further than Lost Lake Campground to Chipmunk Rapids Campground. There you will find a wonderful artesian well where you can fill up on great drinking water.

    Great secluded getaway.

The cabins are large and the area is nice and secluded right on a lake. Swimming, boating, fishing, walking trails. Great family camping spot.

    Lost Lake Cabins

Great cabin in a campground setting.

I went here a few years ago when my kids were a little younger and it was great. I believe it used to be a private camp that has now been converted to a public one. The cabins are a few hundred feet apart and there's access to the lake for swimming or boating. They have a main lodge which had some games and equipment for use. There's also an on site host with firewood for sale.

The interior of the cabins are spacious and could easily accommodate a large family. Its not too far from activities in Eagle River and there is a DNR center with some educational exhibits a few miles to the east. It was a really nice place to go to introduce the kids to the camping experience while they're young without having to pitch a tent or "rough it" right away.

nice and quiet campground on the water.

some sites are low, so water flows to the site on rainy days. there are some trails you can walk, there is a ball diamond for kids and a small court for basketball. there is also some nice cabins and areas for tents. you can meet a lot of really nice people here.

    Great place to stay

Very small and quiet campground. We stayed in a cabin that was small and reasonably priced. The river is only a 5 min hike from the camp ground. The showers and bathroom facility were clean. If I am ever stopping by I would stay here again. Perfect place to stay when going through town.

    Peshtigo River Campground

    Beautiful Spot on the RIver

A few years back, I was a briefly a white water rafting guide for a company that rode on both the Menominee and Peshtigo Rivers. This camp does a great job on their tubing and river-based activities. People come from far and wide to enjoy the camp's outdoor offerings. The campground has a warm and inviting atmosphere that makes it easy to stick around. The cabin are cozy and well furnished. I only regret that I hadn't visited sooner!

Diamond Lake Family Campground and Trout Farm

    Great in the Fall

The Diamond Lake area is a great example of good places to be to enjoy the Fall foliage. A simple camp setup is all I needed to enjoy my time here. The best feature here would likely be space to roam under the trees.

This campground boast a variety of site types from cabins, to a yurt, to a bunkhouse, pull-through sites, and much more. They have a playground as well as nice beaches to access the lake from. Minigolf is yet another feature on site. If you want one place that has it all for the many types of camping you may like to do, Diamond Lake is a great camp.

    Summer Breeze Campground

    Close to ATV trails

We have stayed here 2x. Atv trails are across the interstate. It’s was a great time! This campground is meticulously taken care of by the owners. first time we stayed here it was quiet during the school season. Mostly adult couples. Second time was summer break and there were a lot of children. I like this campground for a beautiful weekend getaway.

    Peshtigo River Campground

A Peaceful Campground on the Peshtigo River

The Peshtigo River Campground as it’s name implies, sits on a crook of the Peshtigo River. This makes it a perfect ending spot for the tubing rentals that they offer. The Campground itself is very clean. It has some of the cleanest bathrooms we’ve ever found. It has a small but very open playground. It even has a game room with a SouthPark Pinball that is fully working. There are several full hook up sites that are nicely spaced. All in all, it is a peaceful, clean, well run campground that I highly recommend.

The rent tubes for $14/person. Cooler floats are $8. This includes the bus service to the drop off anytime between 10 and 3pm. I would dedicate 3-4 hours to the tube trip.

    Nice and quiet

Have only been here one time this summer but really enjoyed it. We bought a camper this year and wanted to try as many places as possible. This is a great place to go if you really want to get away and just camp. There is a little arcade, minigolf, indoor pool and lots of playgrounds which is nice but my favorite part was how quiet it was. There wasn't any loud groups and didn't even hear radios playing throughout the campground! We will be going back for sure! Great wooded sites. Not super wooded where you don't see anyone else but just really nice trees and atmosphere.

    J.W. Wells State Park Campground

Michigan Upper Pensinsula/Lake Michigan Waterfront Camping

We got our new Marmot Tungston 4P tent so I took the wife and kids on a quick weekend trip to J.W. Wells State Park campground in Michigan's Upper Peninsula to test it out. I found J.W. Wells by searching for waterfront camping along Lake Michigan. There are plenty of state and national parks along Lake Michigan but not many where you can pitch your tent right along the waters edge like J.W. Wells. It also happened to be the only site within 4 hours drive of Northbrook, IL (N. Suburb of Chicago) with such close proximity to the waters edge that I could find.

The site itself is tucked right along the Green Bay coastline about 1 hour drive north of Green Bay, Wisconsin. There is a main campground for tent and RV but we chose to stay at 1 of 3 rustic tent sites a little north of the main campground. The campground was well maintained with picnic tables for each site, firepit, and a nice well groomed plot of grass for us to pitch our tent and setup camp. The main campground has showers and a playground right in the middle.

The view from our site was majestic, especially watching the sun rise over the horizon of Lake Michigan. The sunrise was the pinnacle moment of this trip. And that's really the only reason why I gave it 3 stars. The campground itself and the views are incredible, it's just that there isn't much to do around these parts. There are a couple short trails for hiking or ATV's and the Cedar River about a mile north of the site which I assume has some fishing and boating, but that was about it. The only other activity we found was to drive 30 mins north to check the small harbor town of Escanaba. Really not much to see or do there either.

I probably wouldn't recommend this campground for families or persons looking for lots of activities or places to see and visit while camping. It's great for a simple quick getaway with a great view to just sit around camp and relax.

The rustic site on Game Lake is amazing

This campground is right on Jack Lake and Game Lake. There are a bunch of trails right in and around the campground, as well as opportunities for canoeing on Game Lake (there is a canoe you can just use for free). The Ice Age trail, the 1000 mile trail that goes throughout Wisconsin, also passes right by the campground.

    Peshtigo River Campground

Good campground to do some river floating

We thought we had a small site- until we got there. Site 86 is the smallest on the map but it is not small at all! We have a 33 1/2 ft 5th wheel and had plenty of space. We could have had some tents on the site if we wanted to! The fire pit was away from the level area the RV is to be parked. The electric and water were a little farther away than typical but not too bad.

The owners are awesome and worked with us on our reservation- my friend set the site and I paid for it later. Everyone we spoke to with a seasonal site was very nice and helpful. The campground was quiet for the most part. You could hear there were people were out at their sites but no one was being loud or obnoxious. It was perfect!

Tubing was a bit of a different experience to start off but ended good. We waited for about 40 minutes for the bus. Once the bus came, everyone piled on. We had our own tubes so we put them on ourselves as well as our cooler. We rented two cooler tubes- one for my cooler and one as a “dry” area. We we’re on the bus for about 25 minutes due to too many people getting on and two large groups having to decide who was getting off. Once we arrived at the drop off site- all the cooler tubes were grabbed right away. They made sure we got both tubes we paid for before we pushed off down the river. I was very thankful for this!!!!! My personal tube popped half way down the river due to it being old so I’m very happy we had the other two tubes!

The river was nice! Low in some spots but we never had to get out and drag our stuff. Some trees to paddle around occasionally, but nothing out of the normal.

One thing I was surprised at was this campground does not have a bar and or grill.

Friends and I love to canoe camp here. We make it a yearly “beginning of summer”tradition. Very secluded sites up and down the river. Fishing has always been good.

Great for Families and a weekend getaway!

I grew up about 10 minutes away from this campground and it is still an awesome place to go when we are looking for a “staycation”!

It’s right by an elementary school so it’s a very safe area, across the road from an AMAZING playground that all ages will love, also about 50ft from a beach! The beach isn’t huge, and is open to the public so at times it gets crowded but is very safe and clean. The beach is on the peshtigo river and is great for kayaking, paddle boarding, boating, jet skiing, and tubing! There is a boat launch less than half a mile towards town on the river that is open to the public! Also includes a skatepark!

There also are two pavilions on parks grounds, both covered. One is smaller on the beach and includes grills and tables, and the other one has a stage on it for performances!

This campground is a mix between RV’s and tenting so you get the best of both worlds! Forget some necessities? No Worries! You’re a 10 minuet drive from Walmart and within walking distance of a cafe and gas stations! There are bathrooms, water hook ups, picnic tables, fire pits, and parking.

(I unfortunately do not have any recent pictures because I lost all of them but google really does a great job of showing what I’m talking about!)
