Liberty Lake Regional Park features diverse tent sites, RV hookups, and pet-friendly cabin accommodations for visitors traveling with animals. Located near Mica, Washington, most campsites in this area sit at elevations between 2,000-2,500 feet with moderate temperatures ranging from 45°F to 85°F during camping season. The region offers both lake access and forest camping with numerous trails connecting directly to campgrounds.
What to do
Hiking trails with specific destinations: Liberty Lake Regional Park offers trails leading to scenic viewpoints. "We spent 3 weeks at Liberty Lake Regional Park while visiting our son and grandkids in Spokane. Several hiking trails, including an equestrian trail, waterfall, fishing and lots of wildlife. There were deer in the campground every day, we saw moose, owls, pilated woodpecker, and hawks," says Joel R. from Liberty Lake Regional Park.
Beach recreation with swimming options: During summer months, some campgrounds offer designated swimming areas. "Only reason I am not giving this five stars that's because it runs between 35 to 75 a night to stay there ranging from camping to full RV hookup. However, it is very close to Spokane and has beautiful hiking trails, a beach where you can swim and kayak and canoe and fish, birds and wildlife around singing beautifully day and night," notes Steve M.
Water activities with rentals available: Camp Coeur D Alene provides equipment for water activities. "We were lucky enough to land the island campground which made the whole experience amazing! This place has great amenities (free canoes, hot showers, flush toilets, free firewood) which made it the nicest campground I had been to for awhile," shares Jared.
What campers like
Spacious sites with natural buffers: Campers appreciate sites that provide adequate space. "It was a very great experience camping here the spots are very spacious and fairly quiet and clean. I enjoyed staying here will definitely be coming back to stay again," says Garrett Alexander F. about their stay at Liberty Lake Regional Park.
Dog-friendly amenities for pet owners: For those seeking dog friendly campgrounds near Mica, some locations offer special amenities. "The dog park was absolutely amazing, one of the best," shares Brian C. about his experience at Liberty Lake RV Campground.
Wildlife viewing opportunities: Riverside State Park offers chances to observe local wildlife. "This is a larger campground great for RV, trailers and tents. The sites are enclosed in a circle, making a nice walk or bike ride. There is tons of wildlife and lots of trails and riverbank to explore. My favorite thing was the suspension bridge over the river. Lots of space for swimming and fishing," says Mary C.
What you should know
Railroad noise affects some campgrounds: Noise can be a factor at certain locations. "The tent sites had a nice triangular metal and wood canopy for shelter from rain and also for shade. It is right next to an active railroad, so bring earplugs if you don't want to be woken up by trains several times," warns Kristen M. about Spokane KOA Journey.
Seasonal limitations for activities: Weather impacts site availability. "Liberty Lake Regional Park accommodates pets at designated sites from May 17 to September 15, with sites filling quickly during peak summer weekends. The lake looks pretty but didn't go in. Was very hot here in July with no wind," reports Adam B.
Road access challenges: Some campgrounds have access issues. "This is a nice site that is know for its hiking trail. It is also close to play structure and small beach. It has paved/gravel roads. The road in was kinda sketchy if you are pulling a large RV," notes Angel A.
Tips for camping with families
Playground access: Multiple campgrounds provide recreational areas for children. "The campground is close to the water and lots of picnic areas. The RV spots are pretty close, but is surrounded by nature and trails," describes Theresa G. of Willow Creek Retreat.
Short hikes suitable for children: Family-friendly trails are available near some campgrounds. "This is a nice site that is know for its hiking trail. It is also close to play structure and small beach. It has paved/gravel roads," Angel A. comments about Liberty Lake Regional Park.
Swimming options for hot days: Several campgrounds offer swimming opportunities. "Great place to explore. Lots of hiking trails. Nice beach area for swimming," reports Kris S., making these pet-friendly campgrounds near Mica ideal for families with both children and dogs.
Tips from RVers
Site leveling requirements: RV sites may require additional equipment. "Nice cozy camp site. Can be a bit crowded but is nice here. Cell service is solid att and Verizon. Nice hiking and cycling trails. Bring your blocks," advises Adam B. about his experience at Liberty Lake Regional Park.
Dump station considerations: Some campgrounds have limited dump facilities. "Most of the sites are fairly level. We stayed at 2 different sites over 3 weeks, and both were level. The dump station is quite a drive, back out, up the hill," Joel R. shares about Liberty Lake Regional Park.
Connectivity details: Cell service varies by location. "We enjoyed our stay at this CCC built state park. Sites one through 18 are on the river and much more spacious and have full utilities. TMobile cell service was surprisingly slow given our proximity to Spokane," notes Lisa K. about Bowl and Pitcher Campground at Riverside State Park.
