  Milburn Landing Campground

  Not suitable for large campers

  Very nice family friendly campground. Clean bathroom facilities, good playground and boat launch. Kids can play safely here as there are only 35 sites + a few cabins. Firewood is available for purchase at ranger station. The roads around campground are narrow with large trees lining the road. A big rig would have difficulty parking if not on a specific site. Most sites are gravel pad with electric. Would strongly suggest only tents, pop ups and travel trailers under 30'.

  Belle Isle State Park Campground

  BELLE ISLE STATE PARK

  First time staying in a travel trailer at a state park. We booked the day of, because we were being indecisive, and there were a few spots available.

  We came in after hours, and the guide at the entrance told us where to get our packet (from the kiosk in front of the camp store).

  It’s very easy to find everything here, and the camp ground had both pull-throughs and back in spots. Plenty of separation between you and your neighbor for some privacy. No issues with the water/electric/dump station. Almost no cell service to speak of, but that’s the beauty of going to a place like this. Very kid and pet friendly. The community showers and bathrooms are very clean.

  Lots of bugs and mosquitos. Plan accordingly.

  Both the visitor center and camp store have plenty of souvenirs, but not much besides that. Just know, if you don’t plan well enough to bring something, you’ll be traveling 20-30 min out of your way to reach anything besides a gas station (nearest grocery store/Walmart is 25 min away).

  Overall, it was a great first experience in our RV at this state park!

  Assateague Island National Seashore Oceanside Campground

  Best Beach Camping in Maryland

  Wild horses, wide, clean stretches of beach, safe surroundings, close to town. This is the best beach camping in all of Maryland. Pros:

  • the beach is wide with plenty of room to stretch out and is much cleaner than that of OC and surrounding beach areas
  • the wild horses walk right up to your site!
  • almost glamping- water pumps, outhouses, showers on each loop- much appreciated after days of sand, sun, and sweat
  • pet friendly
  • fire rings at each site, bonfires on the beach

  Cons:

  • it's expensive! Sites average $30 per night AND each car is $20 to enter the park
  • reservations are practically mandatory- they book fast with little vacancy
  • this is a barrier island- mosquitos are legit. Bring bug spray with DEET. You should also expect little protection from the sun, so a canopy shelter may be helpful
  • lack of privacy- each site is only several feet from the next. Take a look at the map and book large group sites or several in a loop together for friends

  Shad Landing Campground

  In 40 years of camping, this is the best campground!

  Beautiful camping spot with all the amenities. Loops with electric or no electric, Pet-friendly loops and non-pet friendly loops. I have been camping there off and on for 40 years first as a kid and now with my family. I love to go there every year at all seasons of the year. The best campground I've ever found in Maryland. Close proximity to both Ocean City and Assateague Island.

  Milburn Landing Campground

  A quiet and small campground

  Pocomoke river state park offers two campgrounds smaller of these is Milburn landing which is significantly farther from the coastal attractions then the larger Shad Landing. It offers level sites with gravel pads, picnic table, and lantern stand, and fire ring nestled beneath tall pines; some also offer electric, but not sewer connections. A centrally located bathroom is clean with showers and includes a dishwashing sink. Verizon cell coverage was poor.  There are also a few rustic cabins if you don't have a tent iorwould rather have a more secure place to sleep.

  There's a soft launch spot for canoes and kayaks near the cabins, but no swimming due to water hazards. An official boat ramp is down a road across from the campground entrance.

  There's no camp store on location, but Pocomoke City, with it's big box stores, is nearby if you've forgotten anything.

  It's a quieter experience here with fewer amenities, but nice if you want to get away and boat, fish, or explore. If you're looking to explore Assateague or Chincoteague, you will find the Shad Landing section of Pocomoke River is more convenient.

  Thousand Trails Chesapeake Bay

  Very Nice

  This is the first time we have camped at this Thousand Trails RV Resort and we were pleasantly surprised. Beautiful campground that is well maintained. This campground is very family oriented and offers an abundance of activities for children and adults alike. It is also pet friendly and offers a dog park for your furry friends. We will definitely be back!!

  Jellystone Park™ Chincoteague Island

  Nice park but over-priced

  The staff is top notch, very accommodating. The owners are trying to turn it into a resort and charge a nightly “resort fee” but the amenities and upkeep are just not worth the price tag of $140/night. All of the campgrounds in the area have seasonal sites that look like they’ve been in the family for years. Whether you stay here or somewhere else on the island, charter a trip with Up The Bay Pony Tours.

  Pro Tip: all electric connections are 50 AMP, if you need 30 AMP bring an adapter. We were fortunate that they had an adapter to lend us, but they didn’t have many.

  Tall Pines / Chesapeake Bay KOA Holiday

  First Class Operation

  Our RV Garmin GPS and Waze brought us in on the back roads at Accomac versus keeping us on US-13. If the Temperanceville address doesn’t work, replace Temperanceville with Sanford, VA, per their website. Roads were OK but a little narrow. US-13 to Saxis Rd/695 is a much easier and direct route to the CG. Once we arrived, check-in was easy. We had requested site 50, back-in with FHUs but were told since the park was fairly empty, we could take a golf cart and go choose a site. We declined as 50 was in the pines, but still had water view. The seasonal weekenders had gone home, and we preferred the larger, more private area behind the site to walk our dogs. We were guided to Site 50, which was an easy back-in with the utilities nicely placed. Tall Pines is a large campground with a lot of nice amenities. One of the really nice points about this CG is that they cater to short termers as well as seasonal. There are a wide variety of sites to choose from and other than some of the seasonal sites, they are not stacked on top of each other. Our site was back by the cabins, which were all in excellent shape. Tall Pines hosts activities for the northern part of the Eastern Shore plus there are 3 pools and a horse riding area. Satellite could be iffy for sites near 50 plus other areas due to the trees. There are very nice water view sites and some of the premium sites have cable. We got two bars on both AT&T and Verizon. Their free WiFi worked about average for this sized CG. You have to drive 10 or so minutes to find amenities. Along with a very friendly and helpful staff, the CG also had propane and a nice stack of firewood for$5. The laundry room was very clean and fairly priced. Tall Pines has a first-rate onsite store. The store has t-shirts, bread, milk, etc. but also a wide selection of RV accessories to include faucets& water pumps at fairly reasonable prices. This is a great place to stay and check out Chincoteague and Assateague Islands, without having to stay in the higher priced tourist area.

  Point Lookout State Park - Temporarily Closed

  Great State Park in SoMD

  Just got back from a weekend trip there. It was a great State Park with fishing, trails, and boat docks. We stayed in the hoffman loop in our 20 ft TT. That loop was pet friendly, shaded, and right next to the playground.

  The most sites were off the road and secluded. Ours was a little over grown and not a straight shot to the landing pad. Fire wood was well seasoned for $6/bx and ice $3/bg at the camp store.
