Convenient to Biking

We had a nice, spacious site with inconsiderate neighbors. The website says quiet hours are enforced but sadly there was no one to enforce them. There was one bathhouse that was fairly clean. They offer many seasonal sites and cabins. The best part was the convenience to the Western MD Rail Trail…

Beautiful views & large spots

Beautiful views. Adjacent to a working farm where cows, sheep, llamas, chickens and roosters can graze next to the campsites.

The grounds were beautifully manicured and incredibly clean.

It also had the largest dog park area of any campground I’ve ever seen.

Very nice pool, friendly staff and…

Our New Homebase

We have lived in northern Virginia for over 30 years and never been to this campground until this month! Very nice campground with friendly staff and friendly campground hosts. Sites are comfortably sized and provide privacy as well as allow socializing. Restrooms are extremely clean and the…

Safe and Quiet

The porta potty’s were in rough shape, however the site was clear of trash and I felt safe while sleeping overnight.

15 nice flat sites

Free sites in a small loop not too crammed together. Easy dirt road access. Picnic tables and fire pits. 2 sets of pit toilets. Pretty disgusting at the moment. Think trainspotting. Mostly empty at the moment.

Awesome but COLD

We came the first weekend in April and it snowed. Being that you are at the top of the mountain, it gets COLD so be prepared. Otherwise, we had a wonderful time. Sites were great (bear boxes at each site), friendly rangers and wonderful views. I recommend getting a site in advance because the…

Awesome spot

Awesome little campground of around 10 sites with fire pits and picnic tables just outside of Shenandoah National Park and Luray Caverns.

Perfect quick getaway

For tent camping I would suggests sites 30,33 or 35 these are tucked along the tree line. The bathroom facilities were the cleanest I have seen in a campground. Quiet time was observed and there are plenty of nice trails around for hiking and biking

I'll go again just for the showers

We tent camped there with 2 other families memorial day weekend. It rained the entire time but we still had a blast.

The best review I can give us of the bathrooms. They're with staying again alone. Locking doors, individual stalls. Hot dog. Best camping showers I've ever had.

Only draw back is…

  • Showers. There's two shower sites.
  • Locking door!!
  • Site 71. 69 is a good buddy site

Great campaite

This is a small campsite but we had a lot of fun. There is a trail right next to the sites and they have a nice little picnic area as well that you can throw a ball around in. There are only 8 sites I believe that are first come first serve. There is no firewood on-site but there was a place on the…

Nice getaway location

Semi private & large tent sites. Medium size beach and dock to launch kayaks at. Fish weren’t biting for us this weekend!

Nice campground, Busy lake

Campground is beautiful nestled in the hills of Catoctin Mountain. Only 30 minutes north of Frederick. There is a lot of beautiful trails in the area and a man-made lake with two swimming area beaches. The last couple years they have had issues with Alge and have low lake levels. Good for kayaking…

Great family campground

Second time here. It’s a nice place for families with friendly hosts, lots of other kids running around, decent hikes, good bathrooms, shady sites. The firewood was good (though they ran out of ice this time). We were in the E loop. The lake is nice to wade or swim in though the lakeside gets very…

Outstanding State Park!

With large, private sites this campground is perfect for camping!  We never heard from the neighbors and I don't believe our constant activity created a problem for them either.  The sites were made of crushed rock, very flat, and the RV sites included water, electricity, a picnic table, poles for…

  • Plenty of wildlife including deer, rabbits, snakes, and a multitude of lizards. Not too buggy at all!
  • The Shenandoah River from a great view point in the park.
  • There are a couple of awesome fields that are very busy in the early morning and at dusk.
