Sites at Little Manatee River State Park Campground spread across roughly 30 spots with full hookups, though campers should know that site conditions vary significantly. Kiva R. notes that "most of them are beautiful so it's the luck of the draw," after encountering debris from hurricane damage at her assigned spot. The campground accommodates big rigs alongside smaller RVs, with paved roads providing access throughout the property.
The park operates under Florida state management, with staff stationed at the front gate handling check-ins and providing information about canoe rentals and trail access. Camp hosts maintain a presence on-site, and the office stocks ice and firewood until 5 PM daily. New bathroom facilities include washers and dryers, though construction has occasionally affected some amenities. Sites numbered 6 and higher offer more separation from the main facilities area.
River access drives much of the appeal here, with the Little Manatee River running adjacent to the park boundary. Canoe launches connect to longer downstream trips, and several reviewers mention fishing opportunities along the water. The park's 7-mile backcountry loop trail starts near the campground, providing hiking access without requiring a drive to separate trailheads. Three pavilions serve group gatherings when regulations permit.
Proximity to Wimauma puts gas stations, restaurants, and grocery stores within easy reach for supply runs. The campground fills quickly during peak seasons, making advance reservations essential for securing preferred dates. For additional camping options in the area, campers can explore campgrounds near Ruskin or consider nearby alternatives like Canoe Outpost Little Manatee River. This location works well for families wanting amenities and river recreation within driving distance of Tampa Bay area attractions.
