Best Campgrounds near Texarkana, TX

Campgrounds near Texarkana, Texas range from developed RV resorts to rustic state park facilities, creating a mix of options for travelers. Atlanta State Park Campground, located about 25 miles southwest of Texarkana, offers tent, RV, and cabin accommodations with lakeside settings. Texarkana KOA and Texarkana RV Park & Event Center provide more urban-adjacent options with amenities like electric hookups, water connections, and shower facilities. The area includes several mixed-use campgrounds that accommodate both tent campers and RV enthusiasts, with a few properties also offering cabin rentals and glamping accommodations.

Road access varies significantly between campgrounds, with most sites offering drive-in accessibility suitable for large RVs. "The sites are gravel and very level, did not have to use our automatic levelers, impressed," noted one camper at Texarkana KOA. Several campgrounds remain open year-round, though spring through fall represents the most comfortable camping season when temperatures and humidity levels are moderate. Wright Patman Lake campgrounds like Rocky Point and Piney Point tend to have seasonal operations, with some only open from March through November. Cell coverage can be spotty at more remote locations, particularly at lakeside campgrounds, and reservations are strongly recommended at most established sites, especially during holiday weekends and summer months.

Visitors to the area frequently mention highway noise as a consideration when selecting campgrounds. Sites along Interstate 30 provide convenience but increased ambient noise, while locations at Wright Patman Lake and Atlanta State Park offer more natural surroundings. Fishing opportunities represent a significant draw for many campers, with several properties featuring stocked ponds or lake access. A camper at Forest Lake RV Park described "beautiful grounds with a fishing pond" though noted nearby train noise. Campgrounds within the Texarkana city limits tend to feature more amenities like laundry facilities, swimming pools, and playgrounds, while those at state parks and Corps of Engineers properties emphasize natural features and water recreation. Several properties near Texarkana provide gated access and security features, addressing common safety concerns for travelers passing through this interstate corridor.

    Clear Spring

    Excellent Corps of Engineers campground

This campground is exceptionally well managed. The facilities are basic, with bathhouses throughout, centrally located dumpsters, walking trails, and grounds workers constantly working.

The location on Wright Patman lake is awesome. Many of the sites are lakefront, others are in shaded loops within a 2 min walk of the lake shore.

The campground is an easy 15-20 minute drive from Texarkana and there are stores and restaurants closer than that.

Crater of Diamonds State Park Campground

    Diamond Mining Fun

What a lovely state park campground. Sites are just close enough not to be crowded. Facilities on site were clean and well maintained. Nice to have a hot shower after mining for diamonds. Will make note that best time to come is October-November. Visitor center was somewhat dated, would have thought they would have basic food stuff and more camper supplies. Other than that it was a nice place and we will come again!

PS if you have a dog who likes to dig this is a nice place for them to help you dig.

Crater of Diamonds State Park Campground

    5star campground 4star site

I’ve reviewed the campground before, for other sites. Most are level and plenty of room/parking length. This site 30 is cramped and has a passenger side tilt to it. I have a 26’ (tip to tail) TT and a crew cab pickup… they will not fit in the campsite end to end, much less with some room to get in to the tailgate. Once unhooked, I had to angle the truck in to overlap the tongue of the TT. Ended up with a 3 inch riser to level the trailer side to side, which puts the first step about 17 inches up. To add to it, there is no level surface much further than the step before the site slopes off steeply with pine needles. The site just seems like the Park wanted to jam another spot in to make 45$ extra a night on busy times. I would not recommend site 30, to anyone. Tent campers would be even worse off, as the tent pad area is back closer to the road.

    Beavers Bend State Park Campground

    Very clean and peaceful

Buckeye campground is a newly renovated loop. The sites on the water are absolutely beautiful! Easy set up. Plenty of room for our 5th wheel and truck. Level concrete site. It rained a lot during our stay but we were not bothered at all since there was no mud around us.

    Beard's Bluff Park

Peaceful, Easy and suitable for kids!

We got here by chance, not knowing we would stop here for the night and just fell in love with the beauty of the trees and lake!

Easy connection for electric and water and very close by (2 min drive) is a place to dump.

There is a sweet park for little kids to play which is great!

Camp site does cost money and some are pricier than others (hence 4 stars) but overall loved it here.

    Clear Spring

    Rude guard at gate

They made it kind of difficult to even get in the park you have to do everything online these days bathrooms were dirty in the coming and going it was kind of crazy didn't feel too safe how are doing work all the time and they charge too much even if you're just there for the day I thought that was kind of unfair
