      El Campo Lost Lagoon

RV park built around the pool

The pool is the center piece for sure. With a swim up bar, lazy river, hot tub, rope swing, and water slides.

We stayed in the cottages. (Bring extra pillows and coffee, they wont give you any)

Staff was friendly I did feel a bit nickel and dimed I mean I had to buy a basketball in order to play on their court ($17.99)

Overall a great time, great place to have a family meet up!

      El Campo Lost Lagoon

      Fun Vacation

A nice little getaway, filled with fishing, crawfish on Friday nights, & swimming as well. The only thing I wasn't a fan of was having to pay extra for some activity center crafts. The bar had great alcoholic beverages, & the campground was clean & tidy.

We have made day trips to this park for years, but haven’t taken a few nights and camped here - we have been missing out! Gorgeous park with miles and miles of hiking trails. Tons of wildlife - and not just the Alligators. Sites were level and spacious and very well maintained. Will be back again for sure!

    Guide to Katy

Several camping areas near Katy, Texas provide outdoor recreation opportunities within a short drive. Most campgrounds operate year-round, though seasonal conditions vary significantly. The region sits at relatively low elevation with prairie and woodland environments that support diverse wildlife watching opportunities, particularly around water features.

    What to do

Wildlife viewing: Brazos Bend State Park Campground has abundant alligator sightings. "If you go on a moderate temperature day (this is the key. If it is too hot or cold you won't see Gators) you can see literally dozens of massive alligators. We are talking 6 feet long and right on the pathway," notes one camper. The park includes observation towers and ponds for optimal viewing.

Star gazing: Stephen F. Austin State Park Campground offers good night sky viewing. "Woke up to a beautiful fog in morning. Would return and explore. Saw numerous trails that looked easy, and tree/shade covered," reports a visitor. The park maintains night-time quiet with restricted generator use.

Water activities: Several parks feature water recreation options. "The water park and themed activities kept the kids thrilled," mentions a visitor at Jellystone Park. Water slides and splash pads are common family attractions when temperatures rise above 85°F in summer months.

    What campers like

Spacious sites: Brazos Bend State Park Campground receives praise for site layout. "The camper pads are really nice. Long and wide can accommodate small or large campers and motorhomes. They have fire rings and picnic tables," explains one reviewer who also noted good cell coverage with "5G network with T-MOBILE service and excellent television reception."

Shaded camping: Stephen F. Austin State Park provides natural canopy for temperature management. "VERY quiet, completely dead-flat level site, with electric (30 amp). Beware of fire ants," warns one camper. The park features "very wooded" areas with "tons of wildlife" according to visitors.

Clean facilities: Most campgrounds maintain regular cleaning schedules. "The facilities were old, but very well taken care of and clean! Very few bathrooms and showers, so if you are going during peak season be aware you could be waiting in line," advises one camper about their experience.

    What you should know

Fire restrictions: Policies vary by campground and seasonal conditions. Some parks like Highway 6 RV Resort prohibit open flames entirely. Others such as Houston West RV Park permit controlled fires in designated rings.

Insect preparation: Multiple reviewers mention insects as a consideration. "They've got a pretty severe red ant infestation everywhere, so you can't spend too long standing outside on the gravel or the grass," cautions a visitor at Houston West RV Park. Mosquito populations increase near water features and after rainfall.

Seasonal crowding: Weekends see higher occupancy rates at most campgrounds. "Quiet night. Only downside were the mosquitos. Bring repellant! Altogether a good experience for a single overnight," notes one camper. Holiday weekends often require reservations months in advance.

    Tips for camping with families

Activity planning: Yogi Bear's Jellystone Park™ Camp-Resort Waller specializes in family programming. "Our kids loved that we got to go Trick or treating at a campground! But probably my favorite thing about this place is the waterpark," shares a parent. The resort offers scheduled seasonal activities throughout the day.

Bathroom proximity: Consider site location relative to facilities. "If you have kids or a small bladder get a site close to the bathrooms otherwise it could be little walk from one of the other sites because of the way they are spaced out," recommends a family camper.

Pet policies: Most campgrounds allow pets with restrictions. "Dog friendly and Luxurious Poolside. They have 2 dog runs, one of them being the largest dog run we've seen at a campground so our mali really got to sprint it out," reports a visitor at Highway 6 RV Resort.

    Tips from RVers

Hookup availability: Highway 6 RV Resort provides complete services. "A bit on the pricier side, but it is very well managed and well kept. Pool is clean, bathrooms are clean, laundry room clean and looked like all the machines worked. Level concrete pads," notes one RVer.

Size accommodations: Larger rigs require specific campgrounds. "Full hookups with 30 amps. Semi circle drive thru that fit my 44 ft motorhome and towed Jeep," explains a visitor at Stephen F. Austin State Park Campground. Many sites specify maximum RV lengths on reservation systems.

Leveling requirements: Site conditions vary by campground. Some parks offer concrete pads while others have natural surfaces. "The site required leveling side-to-side," mentions one RVer about their experience.
