A Nice Spot, Perfect Distance From Town

We stayed here long term for work, in our camper trailer. This is a great place, for long or short stays. All sorts of rigs, maybe not quite the place for tents. The owner is very kind. The property is well maintained. Gravel pads, with all the hook ups. It's great not having to move to drain the tanks. There is a community area called the scale house, indoor and outdoor chill spots to enjoy the scenery. A small shower/laundry house, and overflow parking for boats, extra vehicles, etc. The creek runs along side the campground, and herds of sheep roam across the creek with friendly and protective sheep dogs. You can fish in the creek and in the pond located within the sheep field. We really enjoyed this spot.

    Beautiful and well-maintained campsite

Beautiful and well-maintained campsite. We have been to this RV Resort a few times and have NEVER been disappointed. They literally have thought of everything from daily trash pick-up to refilling propane tanks. All of the staff are absolutely wonderful and very friendly(professional). Every time we are in the area, we will be booking with Hidden Creek RV Resort. Highly recommended!!

    Beautiful and quiet

East access to a quiet, beautiful place to stay in the country. Bring your fishing pole-both a creek and lake for guests to catch and release. Everyone we talked to was very friendly and welcoming. Stayed one night and took advantage of the hot shower, laundry, and fishing. Highly recommend. Not fancy, just well done. This is a working ranch with an RV park on it. A must stay if you are in the area. With Good Sam it was $33.75/night. Reservation only.

    Flat Creek RV Resort

Ideal Country Setting Only A Few Miles From Waco

There is nothing I like more than finding a nice place to retreat from a city which allows the comfort of the outdoors and relaxation with the convenience of the neighboring city amenities. It is the perfect blend of both worlds.

This can be a bit difficult for a tent camper however, so again I was able to find an ideal location for my RVing friends at this site. Normally that would instantly lower my rating because I cannot personally utilize the location at this time without a rig, however this site was so impressive I couldn't steer away!

Pulling up to the park the gate is grand. The park itself sits a short 5 minutes away from the city on a quiet road. The park is expansive and the accommodations rest several hundred yards away from the traffic of the small country road. It is so peaceful!!

Sites seemed to be spread nicely to have the sense of community but not being to close to form crowding. Each space is separated by a grassy area which accommodates a picnic table and has enough room for a little stretching room.

When I visited all of the units there seemed to be very well maintained and even though they do have both overnight and long term stay options, nothing seemed to have the "moved in" look (no underpinnings, no long sewage hoses typical of long term parks).

I was very excited to see the large area for walking your dogs, area which allowed space to play and roam, a pond to fish in or to enjoy, a fire pit for community use and very nice shower and laundry facilities.

The roads around the park were wide and well maintained, the green spaces were manicured well and as I visited people were all very friendly. It made me want an RV just so I could visit!

    Tips:

    • To stay at this park make sure you make reservations ahead of time. While there is plenty of space, they do fill up and reservations will ensure your stay especially during the more populated seasons.

    • Take advantage of the free wifi when here, just pulling in I checked it out and noticed it was pretty decent from all areas of the park.

    • Bring your fishing poles! This park has a variety of fish in the stocked pond perfect for a relaxing day at the park.

    Fort Parker State Park Campground

    Peaceful place

We tent camped in a primitive spot #47. Overall the spot was nice but not very level making the best placement of our large tent a bit of a challenge. Vault toilets were clean and had hand sanitizer. The nature and hiking in this park was our favorite part. Even rented a canoe and paddled across the lake to the river. Park staff were friendly and helpful. Some primitive tent sites are right on the edge of the lake and after a big rain were very swampy. I believe all sites had partial shade and some have more privacy than others. We did spot some full hook up sites in the RV section that have good space for a tent set up and we may try that next time cause we definitely will be back.

    Revviel RV Park

A nice quiet campground with a friendly attentive staff

Unless your spending the night in Walmarts parking lot, you cant beat the price per night here at Reveille Ridge RV Park. This is not a resort though they have clean restrooms, laundry facilities, workout room and an outdoor swimming pool.

This is a clean, well lighted RV park in which to spend a night, week or even a month. I would recommend this park for anyone going to A&M for games or to visit kids. This is not the closest park but it’s still within a short driving distance.

There are no close by restaurants that I’ve noticed. A Circle T convenience store is a five minute walk from the front entrance. If you leave out going to SR 21, make a right and there is a fairly new HEB with everything one might want from groceries to mesquite wood chunks for smoking and BBQ grilling

The staff here are nice, accommodating and live here on site if you need them in an emergency or arriving late.

I would recommend this park to anyone and will come here again when I’m in Bryan/College Station.

I’m not sure why Google thinks this is a hotel, it’s definitely an RV Park

    Lake Limestone Campground and Marina

    Diamond in the Rough

The new owners are going all out to make this a family friendly RV park/campground/marina. Only having it for 14 months, you can see the improvements made. There is a store on site for all your needs, that includes wine from the owners own winery. There a a grill also on sight. The campground is gravel pad sites that are mostly level (try site3). They have cabins if you don’t have a RV. Very friendly and eager to make your stay wonderful.

Our visit was a week before Christmas and the decorations were up and beautiful. Give them a try, as we give them a recommendation.

    Downtown Texas RV Park

    Neat park with unique history.

This park is located between Thorndale and Rockdale. There isn’t much to do in the area and we only stay here when visiting family in the area.

The park is pretty nice with full hookup sites down on the bank of the San Gabriel river. The river isn’t much but it’s a place to escape the Texas heat. There are also more developed spots out by the road. By the more developed area there is also a restaurant and bar.

The campground sits on the site of one of the old Spanish missions from the days when Spain was colonizing Texas. There’s a neat story about the garrison commander killing one of the Priests in a feud over an affair. There are historical markers that speak to the history in the area.

If you’re in the area and you’re looking for a spot to stay at then you really can’t go wrong here.

Big Creek Resort, Marina, & Campground

One of my favorite local campgrounds

I like this park because it's close to home. It's got a good space between sites and is broken into 3 or 4 areas so you're not just piled in like sardines. You can being 4-wheeled vehicles that have a steering wheel. No sewer hookups, but there is a dump station. Unfortunately, subsequent major floods have caused them to lose much of the tree cover. It's great when camping in groups though, which we do quite often. All sites have views of the lake. They have a really good fireworks display on 4th of July.

    Type of Park: Private-owned

Check In: 4p Check Out: 3p

    Site#79- Back-In

    $35 per night($105 total)

    Water 20/30/50 amp

    Picnic Table with concrete pad

Grass site. No rock or concrete base

👍🏻 Pros: No trees to avoid

On the end of the line so no one is on the"front" side of the camper

Good area for camping in groups

Close to good swimming areas and store

    Close to boat ramp

👎🏻 Cons: Split-level site- table is down a slight hill from parking area. No shade

Across from the cabins on stilts, lake view is a little blocked

Cabins are being refurbished and the equipment and materials are stacked near the site(and some construction noise)

No grill or fire ring at this site

📝 Park Notes: Gates closed and locked from midnight to 6 am on weekends.

Closed at 10 pm on week days.

Can bring golf carts, ATV's(machines with steering wheels, not handle bars)

Dump Station- a little hard to get to for big rigs. Also hard to leave the park from there. You may have to go back into the park to turn around.

Park Store- has fishing bait and supplies, too

Cabins are under re-construction There is a Places Munzee here

    Boat Ramp

    Overlook

    Great camping spot!

We were are spot T2, along with another group at T10 (only ones camping out there)! The spots are somewhat close together. It’s an all-around great camping spot. Has ample sites to camp either in tents or RVs, with both electricity and water hook ups. Really quiet, everyone is respectful of the 10pm silent rule. Good shade spot while tent camping in the summer. Campsite is a walking distance from bathrooms and showers. Close to water (walking distance) for swimming, boating, fishing, kayaking, etc. By the campsite (not the marine side) there is a small inlet of the lake that is great for swimming. Other parts are too deep, but are perfect for taking a boat out and fishing! Staff is very friendly with any questions. Very dog friendly. Good price!

    Riverview Campground

Located only 7 miles from Downtown Waco and Magnolia Silos District, Riverview Campground provides all the amenities necessary to camp in any type of RV or travel trailer. There are lots of trees or shade to stay cool in the warmer months and a pool available as well.

There’s a pet area, but it didn’t provide doggie bags, so make sure you bring your own. We felt safe and enjoyed the accessibility to the nearby river. The bathrooms are private but aren’t as clean as we would have liked. Overall we enjoyed our stay because of the close proximity to Magnolia and the surrounding areas.

    We enjoyed our stay!

This is a nice little place to stay for a couple of days. Quick drive over to see the silos downtown (around 10 minutes I think) and get a croissant at Magnolia Bakery. Very nice owner that allowed us to extend our checkout when we discovered we needed to get new tires for our trailer and had to make arrangements. We were at lot 59, which runs horizontal with the creek. Very nice plot. It’s also at the very front of the campground, so it’s not close to where the bulk of the campers are staying. It is a gravel site, so we did have to do some leveling when we got there, and no fire pit. We also had a bit of shade from a tree. If you want to have access to Waco but have a country feel, this is a great place to stay :)

    Fort Parker: rest and relax

This park is a bit of a hidden spot in that if you go in an off season, you may have the place to yourself. The best sites are down by the water with a decent amount of trees and growth to give privacy from other campers; just don't forget the bug spray! There's not a lot in the hiking department but a nice Navasota River Trail that parallels both the lake and the main road. Great spots down by the picnic/swim area. This would be a prime place to hang a hammock and relax, but don't plan to trail walk/run far.

    Loved our time

We stayed as Fort Parker for two weeks! We had a wonderful time.

Pros: Gorgeous lake, tons of pelicans and herons, kayak trails, great Verizon service for work, amazing staff and camp hosts, regular nature programs, sunsets, pretty quiet and peaceful even when the camp was full!

Cons: swimming area was pretty gross, mud up to our knees and scum on the top of the water. River trail was stagnant but we saw a lot of birds still. Uneven sites 6-10(needed major leveling)

    Limestone Lake Park

    Perfect Spot by the Lake

I'm surprised no one else has reviewed this place yet, it is awesome! Other than the occasional local on their boats making noise, this place was pretty serene. The drive to the location is very rural once you exit 45. Many nice folks in the community here were waving at me when I drove by.

I decided to stay here because it was free and I did not feel like driving further to Dallas. There are porta potties available stocked with toilet paper. There are 3 or 4 small roads to take once you get inside, which lead you towards the lake. You can get an RV inside a few of the spots without obscuring entry for other vehicles. There is one large patio for events and has seating for about 25 people.

There are fish in the lake, one foot long dead floating bass was right in front of me. Plenty of smaller fish dancing on the water. There are areas to bbq as well. A couple docks you can walk off that are small and can cast a fishing rod.

The place was decently busy for a hidden gem, though I was the only person on my side of the area. I was there on a Saturday so perhaps during the week it is more quiet.

This was one of my favorite places I've stayed at in Texas so far (haven't been to a lot of locations so far in the state) and would definitely return again with better preparation and additional family members and friends.
