      Mission City RV Park

      Cream of the Crop

You don't get a much nicer RV park than this in a major city. It hits all of the marks: mass transit at your doorstep; pool, laundry, showers and a gift shop at the entrance; easy pull-through, level sites; picnic tables at each site; quaint southwestern style! This is a nice park for the overnight or the long stay, and it has easy access to major highways.

Hill Country RV Resort & Cottage Rentals

Nice Park with little room between sites

The park it’s self is nice and clean.  Staff for the most part is friendly and nice.  The pool is a hopping place over summer break and on the weekends when it’s warm.  RV sites are tight in the daily/weekly sites and parking your 40+ foot rig and tow vehicle in the spot are probably not happening.  They do have over flow parking and depending on your site it could be a good walk.

They are pet friendly and have several dog parks and potty areas through out the park.  The laundry room is like no other I’ve ever been too.  All machines operate via debit/credit cards, no more quarters!!

Over all we enjoyed our stay and would recommend this park for monthly stays or in one of their top tier sites for daily/weekly stays.

The Vineyards of Fredericksburg RV Park

Tight Park in an Open Field

Pros Just 3 miles from the popular downtown shopping district

Level gravel site with mini picnic table and fire ring

Very nice rally hall, group fire pit and group pavilion

Very nice and very clean shower and toilet facilities

Combo code required to access toilets and showers

Majority of sites are pull thru

      $1.50 on-site laundry

      Residential size hot tub

      Small pool

      Volleyball net

      Small Playground

100% occupancy during our 2 night stay

      Park WiFi

      4 bars Verizon signal

      Cons

Just an open field. No shade. This is not even a vineyard!

      Very tight check in parking

Lots and lots of tall speed bumps throughout park

Small tree between site prevent our awning deployment

Sites tightly packed together; Our sewer connection was inches from next site’s picnic table!

Most of the time during our stay in site 80, there was a horrific odor from the sewer lift station 100 ft away

      Not dark sky friendly.

Street lights and utility pedestal lights.

Initially assigned site was changed without any notice so our request to be sited away from a street light not honored

Significant traffic noise from Hwy 87 (even at night) and we were half way down the park Unable to access all 24 cable TV channels; could only connect to 6 channels.

      Old River Road RV Resort

      Great place anytime of year!

This is a great park for a few days weeks, or a season. The sites are a decent size whether back in or pull through. All have full hookups with level sites and a picnic table. There are two dog parks, a bouncy feature, playground, basketball court, I door and outdoor pools with hot tubs as well as laundromats, exercise room, clean bathrooms with showers. They also have very nice cabins. There is a huge community/rally room with a full kitchen as well as a game room. The park has planned activities. The staff is friendly and helpful. They even have golf cars for rent. The park is located next to a river for fishing.

      Alsatian RV Resort

      Exceptional Customer Service

This campground(CG)/RV resort has exceptional customer service. We were on a waitlist to add another day to our reservation. They proactively called us back about a month later to let us know they could accommodate another night’s stay. We followed the website instructions to come in so we could take a right turn into the RV Resort, which is a 1/4 mile from the golf course entrance. A very short rig could take a left turn. The gate was down so we called the number listed on the gate and we were let in for a very pleasant check-in. We were assigned pull-through site 406 with FHUs. There’s a slope off the front of the site, so I needed to center the rig on the level part of the cement pad. By doing this I needed 20’ of sewer hose to get from my rear black tank to the sewer. The CG was quiet with no kids running around as this is a 55+ CG. The guest internet was below average for a park this size, but we have Starlink. We got 3 bars on Verizon. Most of the campers here were seasonal with license plates from CO, MN, and WI. Several of the campers we talked to didn’t golf and came here to get away from cold weather. We did not see any overnighters during our four-day stay but this CG is fairly far from the San Antonio area interstates. CG was well-kept with no junky sites. They have a laundry room, but a couple of machines were not working. The sites were decently spaced and very long. Many reviewers called the sites spacious. The sites were not as far apart or as large when compared to many of the State Parks or Corps of Engineers CGs we’ve stayed. Get pizza from Luigi's Italian Restaurant in nearby Castroville as it’s in the top 5 pizzas we’ve had as we traveled through all lower 48 states. We enjoyed our stay, including playing their challenging golf course, and would definitely return.

      Summit Vacation Resort

      Texas Camping at its finest

We loved the quiet and peace of this RV Resort nestled in Texas Hill Country.

The Park: they have a large pool area with cafe and snacks. The property is large and spaces are spread out through out the park. The big draw is the Guadalupe River, Canyon Lake, and the woods and hills.

They have hot shoes, bath houses, laundry.

The sites: Gravel and mostly level, very few sites were unlevel. You’re surrounded by hills so it is nice and quiet. They are full hook up sites. Each site had a fire ring and picnic table. Small deer herds would move through the park each evening. Many of the campers feed them corn and they know the sounds and come running out of the hills.

The campground is near grocery and hardware stores. Within an hour are several bigger towns with more stores.

Cellular: T-Mobile was decent but not great. They do have Campground WiFi that worked faster.

    Guide to Fair Oaks Ranch

RV parks near Fair Oaks Ranch, Texas sit at elevations between 1,000-1,400 feet in the Texas Hill Country northwest of San Antonio. Summer temperatures average 90-95°F from June through August, while winter nights can drop to the 30s. Most campgrounds in this region require advance reservations during spring break weeks (mid-March) and holiday weekends when occupancy reaches capacity.

    What to do

Cave tours: 30 minutes north at Old River Road RV Resort: "This is a great park for a few days, weeks, or a season. The sites are a decent size whether back in or pull through. All have full hookups with level sites and a picnic table," notes a visitor. This location provides convenient access to natural caverns in the area.

River activities: Guadalupe access for fishing, tubing, and swimming: "This is a beautiful park next to the Guadalupe River. They have river access for swimming and fishing as well as 2 swimming pools. One outdoor pool with a splash pad for the little ones," explains one camper who visited Old River Road RV Resort.

Bicycle trails: Mission trail system accessible from Mission City RV Park: "There is an awesome walk/bike path about a mile away. Very peaceful and easy terrain for a great walk or bike ride," reports one visitor. The trails connect to several historic missions and include paved routes ideal for casual riders.

    What campers like

Spacious sites with shade: Many north-side spots at Spring Branch RV Park feature mature oak trees. "Paved roads, clean sites with good power and water everything is surrounded by mature oak trees and the staff is absolutely wonderful," notes one reviewer.

Pet-friendly facilities: Dedicated pet areas with amenities for dogs. "Spring Branch RV Park is a full service campground with nice facilities and a large fenced dog yard for pups to run and play!" mentions one pet owner. Most parks near Fair Oaks Ranch accept pets with some restrictions on breeds or number of animals.

Wildlife viewing opportunities: Many campers appreciate deer sightings. At Thousand Trails Medina Lake, "We were so excited to find this little place close to where we live. Quiet little getaway lots of space between the RVs. There are plenty of wildlife to see," shares one camper.

    What you should know

Highway noise levels vary: Sites closer to major roads experience more noise. "The industry around the park is noisy. There is an awesome walk/bike path about a mile away," mentions one visitor to Mission City RV Park. Request sites farther from highways when possible.

Security considerations: Some areas require additional precautions. "When we pulled into our site the lady next door told us to make sure we lock up our bikes. They have had theirs stolen in the past," warns one visitor about an area RV park.

Construction impacts access: Road work can affect navigation. At Alamo Fiesta RV Resort, "The highway in front of the campground is under construction, so where it would normally be an easy off easy on, it's a little tricky getting in and out with the bigger rigs," explains a camper.

    Tips for camping with families

Indoor recreation options: For rainy days or extreme heat. "They have 2 swimming pools, including a heated indoor pool and hot tub. Two playgrounds and one of them is covered and located next to a jump pad," notes a family who stayed at Old River Road RV Resort.

Playground facilities: Several parks offer play equipment. "We have two dog parks, a bouncy feature, playground, basketball court, indoor and outdoor pools with hot tubs as well as laundromats," reports a visitor at Old River Road RV Resort.

Kid-friendly activities: Look for scheduled events. "The resort offered nightly activities like dinners and live music during their winter months which was enjoyable for us," mentions another visitor at Old River Road RV Resort.

    Tips from RVers

Site selection strategy: North sections typically offer more shade. At Spring Branch RV Park, "Spots on the north side in an oak grove and are laid out to meet the terrain. The south side is not as treed," explains one RVer.

Water pressure considerations: Bring pressure regulators. "Clean grounds, clean bathroom/shower. Friendly, helpful staff. High water pressure; you'll need a pressure regulator. They sell them at the office!" warns an RV camper.

Late check-in procedures: Some parks have after-hours systems. "Checking in after 9:30 pm we were greeted at the gate and led to our campsites," shares a visitor about Mission City RV Park. Call ahead to confirm late arrival protocols if planning to arrive after office hours.
