    The Bluffs RV Park

Quick stay in a cute campground!

We came in town for a fishing tournament and stayed at this small campground with a lot of cute amenities! Close to boat ramp, 5 min walk to the lake, full hookups, good water pressure, fire pits, gavel sites, concrete pads for wooden picnic tables, small grills, dog run, horseshoes, laundry hut and free firewood! Right off the highway and good phone reception.

    Lake Tawakoni State Park Campground

    Nice state park

We don't stay at too many TX State Parks because of the added day use fee. We decided on this park due to its proximity to family in this area. The site was level and on a concrete pad with a parking spot right next to it. We did have a neighbor, so the space between us was fair. Our cell signal with Verizon was poor, so it made work difficult. Our site had W/E and there is a dump station. We did have a picnic table and fire ring. There are some sites that back up to a part of the lake. Noise level was pretty low. Unfortunately, we only spent 1 full day here, so we didn't really get to enjoy any of the hiking trails or do any fishing. We will definitely have to stay again in the future.

    Ramblin Fever RV Park

    Close to Restaurants and Shopping

I stayed for 4 nights from a Thursday through Monday. The owner is very nice and helped me with choosing a drive thru site. It is well maintained. Mix of long term and short stay resident s. It is near a busy arterial highway so it's not especially quiet. The hookups worked great. I was two spots from the very front of the park. I used Passport America pass for my first 3 nights. I felt safe. It is very pet friendly. Keep dogs on leash and clean up after them. I have 3 black labs. No fenced dog park yet, so I drove them to the city park with tennis courts every morning to run free. I will most likely stay here again. I mostly boondock in the forests, but when I need a place to resupply and take care of business needs, this place is very nice.

    Governor Jim Hogg RV Park

    RV camping

The camping area is mostly occupied by long term RV campers. Many of the campers are employed in the nearby areas. Grounds offer water/electric/sewer hookups, there are also toilets available but no showers. The RV grounds are part of the city park which offers a splash pad (seasonal), large playground, pavilion, picnic areas, arboretum, and a short hiking trail (approximately one third of a mile). The RV sites are backed up by the sheriff's office/county jail the courthouse is down the road, and there is a police department across the street. This isn't to suggest that the area is dangerous, its a small town and everything is pretty much right there. Shopping and restaurants are within walking distance.

Lake Fork, a popular fishing lake is within a ten minute drive. Lake Quitman is less than ten minutes, generally this is where water sport activities occur. Pets are welcome.

    Shady Lake RV Park

    Overnight Stop

This park is close to highway and great for overnight stay. The park has pull through full site hookups. The park has a pond that is the center of the entire campground. The park has two dog parks available as well for those traveling with pets.

    Two things I loved:

    1. Close to highway quick stay
    2. The pond nice view with ducklings

One thing I didn’t love: Really close to others for extended stays.

    The Waters

    Small monthly RV park

This used to be under another name, but is under new management. The park is now under construction, with a laundry building coming soon. 30 spots.

    • Wifi is okay. Cel phone reception can be problematic without booster.

    • This park is mostly fifth wheels and travel trailers. While our almost 40’ Class A fit on the pad, if we had anything larger than our Jeep Wrangler as a tow would not have fit in our spot. Really meant for 30’ if you have a pickup truck to tow.

    • Nice catch and release pond.

Mineola Civic Center and RV Park

    Excellent

Over 150 concrete sites all level from what I could see. Well set up for Class A Motorhome sewer, water and 50 and 30 amp connections. Walking distance of big grocery store. 15 miles from Lake Fork. They even bring you a 55 gallon garbage container.

Guide to Cooper

RV camping near Cooper, Texas offers travelers numerous options within a 30-mile radius. The region sits in the post oak savannah ecological region with gently rolling terrain and small lakes scattered throughout the landscape. Cellular coverage varies significantly between campgrounds, with stronger signals typically available near highways and populated areas.

What to do

Lake access opportunities: Thousand Trails Lake Tawakoni provides direct water access for boaters and anglers. "The campground in late November is about 2/3 full with plenty of space between sites... We have a view of the water and wildlife across the road with no sites to impede our view," notes Mary H. The property features several loops that follow branches of the lake.

Hiking trails available: Hidden Grove RV Resort maintains multiple walking paths through wooded areas. "They have two different trails to walk on," mentions General M. in his review. Another visitor mentioned "3 mile hiking trail around the property" that provides exercise opportunities.

Golfing practice: Lake Tawakoni RV campground features a driving range for golf enthusiasts. According to Tammie L., the park offers "camping with resort amenities" including "a 250 yard driving range" among other recreational facilities. This makes the location suitable for RVers wanting to maintain their golf skills.

What campers like

Community atmosphere: Shady Lake RV Park receives consistent praise for its staff and camper interactions. "Great people are here. Friendly and nice clean," writes one reviewer named Nguyen. Another mentions the park has "two dog parks available as well for those traveling with pets."

Food options on-site: Stinson RV Park operates a restaurant called The Tin Cup with favorable reviews. "The Tin Cup is a restaurant that's owned by the park and the food is great," states Lynn W., though noting that "live music on Saturdays" might disturb early sleepers as it continues past 10:30 pm.

Fishing access: Thousand Trails Lake Tawakoni provides fishing opportunities directly from the campground. "Great place if you have a boat or kayak!" writes Tammie L. The campground follows the shoreline in several areas, making water access convenient from multiple camping loops.

What you should know

Weather preparedness essential: Severe winter weather can impact park operations and utilities. One camper at Lake Tawakoni reported: "Biggest ice and snow storm in 70yrs temperatures down to -2 degrees below freezing for several days several inches of snow. All park water lines froze, rolling blackouts by the state, no propane available anywhere!"

Space considerations: Shady Oaks RV Resort provides comfortable sites, but some parks offer limited space between units. A reviewer at Shady Lake RV Park noted: "4 overnight sites are long enough but only 5-7 feet apart... Permanent residents have no respect for overnight site, they walk 2 feet from camper to a pond over and over."

Reservation timing: Countryside RV Park requires advanced planning during busy periods. With 92 sites, this park fills quickly during peak camping seasons. Reservations are particularly important during fishing tournaments and summer months when occupancy rates increase across all regional campgrounds.

Tips for camping with families

Recreational facilities: Bois D'Ark RV Park offers convenient access to multiple lakes. "Bonham lake is about 2 miles away and the new Texas lake Bois d'ark is about 5 miles away," notes Tammie L., adding shopping options: "there is a Walmart about a mile down the road."

Swimming options: Several parks maintain swimming pools for family enjoyment during hot Texas summers. Katie B. mentions at Lake Tawakoni: "We enjoyed our stay here, it was quiet and we enjoyed the pools at the park."

Playground facilities: Family-friendly amenities vary between campgrounds. Rodney T. specifically mentions "a playground for the kids" at Shady Oaks RV Resort, making it suitable for families with younger children requiring recreational options beyond hiking or water activities.

Tips from RVers

Site dimensions: Most parks accommodate larger recreational vehicles with dedicated pull-through sites. At Stinson RV Park, a visitor mentioned: "All sites are pull-through," which minimizes maneuvering challenges for less experienced drivers.

Hookup variations: Hidden Grove RV Resort provides complete utility connections on paved surfaces. Debbie M. notes: "Great roads, very large sites, your choice pull in paved or gravel, back in or lake side. All spots have a paved patio." This allows RVers flexibility in choosing site types based on vehicle needs.

Road quality concerns: When selecting campgrounds, consider internal road conditions. One camper at Lake Tawakoni mentioned: "some of the main roads were a little bumpy," while still rating their overall experience positively.
