Houston / Med Center KOA Holiday

Great rv campground close to airport

Great campground with wonderful staff who are very friendly. Full hookup, paved sites with heated saltwater pool and hot tub, workout facilities, clubhouse with games and puzzles, laundry facilities, a small camp store, and pet friendly with two small dog parks. The best thing about the location is that it backs up to Tom Bass park that has wonderful dog parks along with playgrounds and frisbee golf. Would definitely be staying here again!

    Traders Village RV Park

Houston, Tx…..Nothing to get excited about

It’s a large campground and spaces are very small. There’s a grass strip between camp sites. No picnic tables or grills. The office gave us a map and showed us how to get to our site but virtually impossible to understand. A very nice gentleman that stayed here took us to our site. He said they have no idea how to do directions and a buddy of his really messed up his camper by trolling around looking for their site. It’s very crowded and no room for awnings or for both campers side by side to put out awnings. There is a pool but it doesn’t look well maintained and there’s absolutely no chairs. Just the pool and it’s small. Laundry room is large. There’s no dog park or anywhere to walk your dog. Signs everywhere that say no pets, yet they are allowed. The flea market is only on the wknd. It’s close to a lot of restaurants and in a nice area.

Houston / Med Center KOA Holiday

    A lot of Amenities

The park is clean, but the sites are tight. The further you get to the front the louder the traffic noise is, but the sites are larger and spaced out more. It is a five and take. It has three locations with washer and dryers, two dog parks, a recreation room and easy access to Tom Bass park.

    Thousand Trails Lake Conroe

Could use updates to some sites

We spend Thanksgiving in this campground. We arrived shortly after checkin and had limited selection of sites. The person at checkin did have a good site recommendation. Beware that not all sites have full hookups. For the size of the place I would have explained small convenience store but they only had ice. Our site backed up to some trees so that was nice. Good dog park and plenty of activities available. I walk the dog a lot and run and road around the grounds needs to be repaved, lots of pot holes and uneven areas.

    South Main RV Park

Good for proximity to NRG stadium

My husband and I came to the Houston rodeo and stayed here strictly for proximity to the stadium. The RV park did have a shuttle which was very nice to get us to and from. Most sites are large enough for big rigs, you do have to park on the gravel right in front of your rig which can be tight. Nice concrete pads at each site. Traffic can be loud and there are many full-time set ups here with permanent residents. Has a gate with a code so it did feel safe at night. Small dog park that could use some extra TLC. Laundry on premises, no play ground, good wifi and Verizon service.

Guide to Humble

Cabin camping options abound in the Humble area, with sites nestled among East Texas pines about 20 miles northeast of Houston. Most campgrounds maintain sites at elevations around 100 feet above sea level, creating minimal flooding concerns during typical rainfall. Summer temperatures regularly exceed 90°F between June and September, making spring and fall the most comfortable camping seasons.

What to do

Fishing at private lakes: Lake Houston Wilderness Park offers multiple water features with catch-and-release fishing opportunities. Phil G. notes about Lone Star Lakes RV Park: "They have everything you could need, so far as amenities (even free to top off those weary tires)... Free fishing in their 4 acre private lake."

Hiking with natural views: Several trails accommodate different skill levels within a short drive. Angelica R. recommends a specific trail at Lake Houston Wilderness Park: "My favorite is the trail that leads you to Lake Isabella. It can only be reached by hiking to it. Very peaceful."

Swimming in maintained pools: Most RV parks feature swimming amenities for cooling off. Rachel S. appreciates the facilities at Eastlake RV Resort: "The resort is well maintained and has a ton of awesome amenities! A gym, great swimming pool and hot tub, a computer room, laundry, sparkling bathrooms, coffee bar and a popcorn station, too!"

What campers like

Clean facilities: Many campgrounds prioritize cleanliness and regular maintenance. Mindy G. reports that Forest Retreat RV Park offers "large concrete level sites... Grounds/pool area are well kept; one of the cleanest park grounds I have seen as of late."

Spacious sites: Campers appreciate room to spread out. TK n E. mentions that Northlake RV Resort has "beautiful facilities including main building with laundry, bathrooms, and community area. Pool, hot tub, fishing pond, propane, place to wash your dog, and dog walk."

Wildlife viewing: The natural setting provides opportunities to observe local species. Emily S. notes: "Stayed here twice with scouts, both times we explored the trails and peach creek. Lots of wildlife in this park, saw many snakes in camp and on the trails."

What you should know

Tent camping limitations: Some parks restrict tent camping or fire pits. Jeremy K. mentions about Emerald Lake Resort: "There are electrical hookups available at the tent sites, which is what I had. The only downside I would say is there are no fire rings at the tent sites."

Reservation requirements: Most dog friendly campgrounds near Humble require advance booking, especially during peak seasons. David T. learned this the hard way: "Well we called and called to make reservations but no answer or call back... Got there and the gates are locked, no self pay because it's on the other side of the gate."

Noise considerations: Some parks experience noise from nearby transportation routes. TK n E. notes: "A little noisy with train tracks and airport nearby."

Tips for camping with families

Kid-friendly activities: Several parks offer dedicated spaces for children. Amanda C. says about Lake Houston Wilderness Park: "Plenty of trails, wildlife, bathrooms and good fishing. We go here a lot! It's always good fun! And very clean."

Organized events: Check park calendars for special activities. Alisa P. shares that Traders Village RV Park "even have an event calendar with lots of family fun activities."

Age restrictions: Some locations maintain specific rules for minors. Megan notes: "This place is very much tailored to longterm RV/campers who are 55+. Another camp site had teens messing around on the property and instead of addressing it with those campers, the facility/staff sent an email out to everyone saying, ALL kids under the age of 16 are not to be at the pool."

Tips from RVers

Site accessibility: Check road conditions and site dimensions before arrival. Kaitlynn B. cautions: "The driveways and turns are not exactly big-rig friendly as some other campsites."

Pet amenities: Dog friendly campgrounds near Humble typically provide dedicated pet areas. Milagros B. reports about Danny's RV Resort: "Full hookup sites, spot are very bigs and concrete roads. Access is restricted at night."

Seasonal considerations: Weather impacts the camping experience significantly. Troy P. mentions: "This RV park resides in the middle of industrial businesses. Not many know it is there. The area around is not the greatest, but you cannot beat the prices."
