    Rvino - The Broken Banjo

    Love this place

I stayed in spot 8 during the Coronavirus lockdown. The staff is very friendly. It’s near I-24 which makes getting places easy. It will be noisy if you are sound sensitive. It is well maintained. The laundry room is great. You can get anything you need from the store. Perfect pull through sites for a big rig overnight stop. Great sites with picnic table, fire pits for longer stays. Nice pool, sparkling clean restrooms. The dogs loved the dog park. The amenities for kids are great. Highly recommend.

    Campers RV Park

    Clean, Family Friendly Park.

We stayed here twice as our first stops leaving “home” when we started full-timing this summer. Both stays were quite, with plenty of things to explore around the property.

Pro’s: The back-in and full time sites have ample space for those looking for a longer stay, but the pull through a usually aren’t full so they provide decent space as well. Activities everywhere! There are pavilions and out buildings setup with games, hammocks, and all kinds of fun family-friendly things to see and do.

Cons: The grounds were “under construction” while we were there so there was occasionally some tractor/dozer noise. Some sites were unavailable due to them being revamped.

Collectively it was a very good experience. The staff was very friendly, and even put us in a nice long term stay when there was a booking error, so we ended up with a huge spot near the creek. I only take off a star due to spacing of the sites, but I would stay here again.

Mountain Glen RV Park & Campground

    The Best of the Best!

Mountain Glen is a hidden gem! If you are traveling through eastern TN or just looking for a place to park your RV for a few weeks or longer of peaceful quiet then you have to stay here. I've stayed in RV parks across 38 states and never found cleaner bathrooms, friendlier customer service, or faster WiFi (and that's important since I work remotely!) than what Mountain Glen RV Park offers. They've also got great water pressure, easy pull-throughs, after-hour check-in options, and a convenient store in case you forgot some essentials. In addition to the great amenities, you'll be greeted by rolling scenic vistas of beautiful countryside, having fishing opportunities, pavilion or indoor meeting room to hang out with friends, playground for the kids, and pet friendly areas for your dogs to enjoy.

Mountain Glen is definitely a must-stay and the best of the best of all the RV parks and campgrounds I've ever stayed at!

Fairview Campground — Tims Ford State Park

    Camp by the Lake!

You can camp by the water at Tim’s Ford Lake. Some sites have full hook up’s up to 50 amp. Sewer hook up is not available at the water sites. We enjoy this campground. Great for kayaking and fishing. Family friendly.
35’ Fifth Wheel was a breeze at most sites, a couple sites may be tight.

    Edgar Evins State Park Campground

    GlamperGirl

This is my favorite place to camp. If you have furbabies you will love it. All campsites except the primitive are huge decks. Electric, water, grill, fire ring, picnic table and canopy of trees. Bathrooms are always clean. Showers have hot water fast. Fire wood is all around in the woods. Kayaking is great! Put in below Center Hill dam. 6 mile run of clear cold water! Stocked with trout. I don't fish but if you do, you will need a trout stamp. If you don't own kayaks there is a store called Big Rock Market. You can contact them and they will set you up with kayaks and they drop off and pick you up. So, back to the campground. Dog friendly, clean, 30 and 50 amp.,coin laundry at the camp store. Dump station and trash. Playground for children, view of the lake from most sites. Marina where you can rent boats. I just can't say enough about this awesome place. Friendly staff. I actually just stopped the ranger driving by to ask him a few questions. I am at site 9 this time. Usually 25. Some have inclines or declines. 9 has a slight decline 25 is flat. When you go to the map and click on a site it will tell you. Like site 23 is right next to a bathroom, but it has a steep incline. So pay attention to that when booking. There are hiking trails and wildlife. The woodpeckers start about 6:00 am. LOL! I have not seen a snake in the camping area. Just deer and birds.

    Elm Hill RV Resort

    Beautiful location

This park is located on a peninsula on a lake close to Nashville. Almost every site has a view of the water on flat concrete big pads. Some sites, on higher land, are mostly long term residents. Most sites are back in but there are a few pull through. Each site has all hook ups and are very well maintained. The sites are close together but not uncomfortable. There is a camp store at the main office. The pool is very nice and there are games, a playground and a pavilion. There was a band there during my stay. Activities planned throughout the month. It is more expensive than most but the quality of the site is worth it.

    Shady Acres RV Park

    Shady Acres campground, Lebanon Tn

This is a perfect spot for passing through town. We are in our way to North Carolina from Mississippi. My husband made this reservation over the phone with a really trusting kind person. They double checked the availability because they were almost totally full. It was a pull through spot close to the bathrooms. We were able to use just electrical hook up for the night to rest. It’s a few minutes off I-40 and lots of gas options close by. It’s only minutes from Nashville downtown. This is a family owned business with a permanent house in the front. Looked like there were some long term rental people here. If it were summer months there is a pool up front. We will add this to our list for location and price!

    Four Corners Resort and Marina

    First Official Campsite

This was our first official campsite. We were here from December to March. Reservations were easy to make. Check-in was a breeze. The ladies at the front desk are super kind. The maintenance people were caring and considerate.

There is a laundry area and a bathhouse. There were 2 smaller washers and one big washer. The big washer didn't work while we were there, which would have been more convenient. There were 2 regular dryers and one large gas dryer, which was amazing and could dry everything in 20 minutes.

The bathhouse is warm and roomy. There were only 2 stalls and 2 showers, but the showers had enough space that you weren't getting dressed in the same space.

There is a pool and a hot tub, but since we were there in the winter months, we didn't use those. Next to that, they had a big chess game, which my kids were able to play on warmer days.

There is a small little park area that my kids were able to enjoy during the warmer days.

The lots themselves are all the same size, except the pull through lot. There is enough space between neighbors to have a small yard with the fire pit. There is a nice picnic table on each site.

We had a nice view of the water to wake up to. The docks were accessible. The beach was accessible.

We had family come and stay in one of the glampers, and it was clean and maintained. We really enjoyed visiting them there.

We talked to a lot of other campers, and they ranged from weekly to long-term stays. So we were able to get more information about that, too.

They have free wifi, but we didn't use it much since we have our own.

    Definitely recommend staying here!

River Road RV Park & Horse Camp

Peaceful, Clean, and Friendly—A Great Basecamp in Chapel Hill, TN

We stayed at River Road RV Park and Horse Camp and had a great experience. It’s a quiet, no-frills spot on a working farm—perfect if you're looking for a place to relax and recharge after a day of exploring. The sites were level and clean, with both pull-through and back-in options. Full hookups were available, and there’s a small laundry area with a shower and bathroom. Roads are a little narrow, but manageable. This isn’t a resort, and amenities are minimal(a swing set for kids, no pool or clubhouse), but that’s part of the charm. Pam, the owner, is incredibly kind and helpful—she brought us firewood and checked in often. Her camp dog, Charlie, was a sweet and playful companion to our older dog. Many of the other campers are long-term residents working nearby, and everyone we met was friendly and helpful. It felt safe, grounded, and community-oriented. There’s some wildlife to enjoy—rabbits, birds, squirrels—and even a couple of mini ponies in the pasture. One thing to note: there is a train track nearby. It didn’t bother us, but light sleepers might want to bring earplugs just in case. The best part is the location. Duck River is just 5 minutes away, and Henry Horton State Park is close by—great for fishing, hiking, or kayaking. If you want a peaceful basecamp with kind people and good access to outdoor adventure, this is a great spot to park and stay.

Guide to Pocahontas

Pocahontas, Tennessee camping areas sit along the Highland Rim region at approximately 700-900 feet elevation, where summer temperatures average in the mid-80s with moderate humidity. The Cumberland Plateau's eastern edge provides unique terrain features for campers, with access to both forest settings and water recreation at nearby lakes and rivers. Camping spots range from basic primitive sites to full-service RV parks with concrete pads.

What to do

Hiking to waterfalls: The Greeter Falls trail near Greeter Falls Campground offers access to multiple waterfall views within a short hike. "We were able to get a perfect spot for us that was only 15 minutes from the event. We saw a deer on the way to the bathroom," notes a visitor who appreciated the proximity to natural attractions.

Zip lining adventures: Several campgrounds offer on-site zip lining for guests seeking thrills without leaving camp. "Live music, zip lines & frizby golf. Beautiful farm with waterfalls & lots of nearby hiking trails," reports a guest at Bigfoot Adventure RV park & Campground.

Fishing opportunities: Both stocked ponds and natural waterways provide fishing options throughout the region. "Had a blast fishing in the ponds. Didn't get a chance to zip line but looks like a blast. They seem to be adding things… disc golf maybe," mentioned a camper about recreational options at local parks.

What campers like

Waterfront camping: Lakeside sites offer direct water views and recreation access at several locations. "We spent a week on a Lakefront site with breathtaking sunrises and sunsets. Additionally, we were right next to one of the courtesy docks where our family members picked us up on their boat," shared a visitor at Four Corners RV Resort.

Clean, updated facilities: Recently renovated campgrounds provide modern amenities. "The park is nicely maintained, clean, and the views are spectacular. Our site was very level and clean. Hookups were easily accessible," noted a guest about site conditions at a local RV resort.

Family-oriented activities: Many parks feature kid-friendly amenities beyond standard playgrounds. "They have a fenced in dog park area centrally located in area c, seemed of good size with lots of trees. They have a little sand pit area for kids to play in," observed a camper at Greeter Falls Campground about the thoughtful layout.

What you should know

Seasonal insect considerations: Waterfront locations may have significant mosquito activity during warmer months. "The mosquitos. It's camping on a lake in the south but our neighbors staying in the lakeside lots could hardly even be outside. They would swarm you on the docks, too," warned a visitor about lakeside camping.

Water level variations: Lake and waterfall conditions change throughout the year based on rainfall. "Unfortunately it was pretty dry so there wasn't much waterfall action. The upper falls was pretty cool. We couldn't make it to all of the falls," mentioned a guest at Greeter Falls about seasonal conditions.

Site dimensions and spacing: Some sites have very specific length constraints with little extra room. "Be very cautious of the site lengths. Some are extremely short and I'd say the measurements are nearly exact. Since our site backed up to a drop off, there was a small fence so no way to 'hang over' the pad a little for extra room," shared a camper at Elm Hill RV Resort.

Tips for camping with families

Glamping options: Several RV parks Pocahontas, Tennessee have added non-traditional accommodations. "We are here on our Honeymoon. It was a last minute lets roll the dice and see where God leads us. Got here close to midnight and they had a yurt ready for us. They where more than happy to accommodate us! The Yurt was so nice had 2 foam pads for us to sleep on with sleeping bags," shared a couple who stayed at a local campground.

Kid-friendly scheduling: Consider when facilities might be most crowded. "We have used this spot as a late night stopover while en route to Florida. Little ways off the interstate, but has full hookups," noted a traveler at R&R RV Campground about timing their stay.

Pet accommodations: Many campgrounds have dedicated pet areas. "We reserved one of the spots with a fenced in area for our pups that connected to the camper. They loved having a place to stretch their legs and running around in the grass after 2 days on the road," commented a pet owner at Rvino - The Broken Banjo about their specialized site.

Tips from RVers

Leveling requirements: Site terrain varies significantly across campgrounds. "Booked two rv sites for this past Labor Day weekend for my wife and I and her sister's family. Very easy to get to, paved roads. Saw some class C motorhomes in there. Our rv sites were gravel, required some leveling, had FHUs."

Pull-through availability: Several parks offer straightforward site access. "We did not drive they the yurts or RV sites, so I cannot speak for those, but the pictures on the website look nice," commented a visitor researching options before bringing their RV.

Cell service variations: Data connectivity differs significantly by carrier and location. "I have Verizon and had 3 bars and LTE and the data signal was strong for me. Was able to stream, FaceTime, pretty much whatever I wanted. Of course, I'm not sure if it's like the everywhere in the campground, but where I was it worked great," shared a camper about connectivity at their campsite.
