Most developed campgrounds provide water and electric hookups, with several offering full sewer connections for RVs. Many campsites feature picnic tables, fire rings, and access to bath houses. A recent visitor to Black Pearl Farms noted, "Beautiful, well maintained site beside the Edisto river, just as advertised! Private, peaceful, just what we were looking for." Campers consistently mention the peace and privacy at sites like Black Pearl Farms, though access can sometimes be challenging. "The directions provided by The Dyrt to this location are incorrect... please use Google Maps to find the location or you will be down a long dirt road with no place to turn around," cautioned one visitor. For those seeking more amenities, campgrounds like New Green Acres RV Park offer convenient access to Interstate 95 and nearby towns, though some reviewers note highway noise as a drawback. State parks in the region, including Colleton and Barnwell State Parks, provide a balance of natural settings with maintained facilities and typically receive positive reviews for cleanliness and ranger assistance.

    Edisto River Lodge

    Hidden Gem in Ridgeville

This is an incredible hidden gem and I will be returning. Dustin is a great host. He met me when I pulled up and helped me back into my site. That was a little bit of a challenge but I made it. Site 2 has a great view of the pond, a gazebo, fire pit, lots of seating and nice picnic table. At night there is low-level lighting around the site that makes it beautiful. Now, let’s talk about the real surprise—the hot tub. What a find. After a busy Friday morning and then a drive out to Edisto River Lodge that hot tub was very welcome.

The site is hardscaped (pavers) and easy to walk around. The gazebo and the fire pit were great places to hang out. The Wi-Fi was strong.

There is a very nice bathroom with a washer-dryer (and even some soap). The shower is very private and outside.

The electrical and power are on opposite site of what you would expect but I had no problem hooking up.

Overall this is one of the nicest camp spots I’ve found in the past 10 years of camping. Highly recommended.

    Barnyard RV Park

    No animals at the Barnyard.

This is a nice, clean, open campground and RV park. Sites are big enough for most RVs. Mostly level, Some have cement pads. 30/50 amp, full hookups. Some Shade. Showers and bathrooms were clean and very nice. Good water pressure. My wife in was disappointed there were no animals.

    Green Acres RV Camping

    Best Place I’ve Stayed

This was by far the best campground I have ever stayed at. Owner watches out for his land and makes his guests feel very important. I’m a travel therapist and move all over the US every 3 months, and this was the best I’ve stayed. Owner is very understanding and is willing to go above and beyond for his guests!! Some people moved out and left a mess when pulled out, by the end of the day it was all cleaned up. Very clean, couldn’t be happier💜

    Santee Lakes KOA

    Needs Work

We stay here twice both times were just OK. The pool is crowded and murky, suggesting it good us a good cleaning. We stay for 4th of July weekend and can only describe the experience as a free for all. With camper literally on top of each other and spreading into the next camp site. Our neighbor’s site consisted of a RV, a large six-person tent and a pick-up truck tent parked half on our site. We ventured down to the lake swimming area and doing doughnuts near or on top of the swim boundary line most of the day. To recap– can’t swim in the dirty pool and can’t swim in the lake. In fairness the KOA as made some improvement since our stay but not enough for us to go back.

    Bells Marina & Resort

    Perfect stop on i95

Our road stop off I-95 at Bells Marina was an absolute gem! This lakeside campsite, perfectly nestled on the water, delivered stunning views and a peaceful atmosphere that made our getaway unforgettable. The newly paved, smooth road leading to the campsite—conveniently accessible from I-95—made our arrival effortless and stress-free. The well-stocked on-site store was a lifesaver, with their phenomenal pizza being the perfect quick and delicious meal after a long drive. Anglers in our group raved about the new fish cleaning station, a fantastic addition for preparing fresh catches with ease. With Food Lion just a 10-minute drive away, grabbing extra supplies was a breeze. The quiet, picturesque setting provided a rejuvenating escape from the road. Bells Marina is a must-visit for anyone seeking a convenient and exceptional lakeside camping experience!

    Outside Inn Campground

    Such a great place

Small RV park which also has a lot of animal’s. There is a great trail walk and lots of animals bunnies, pigs, donkeys, chickens, goats and a guinea fowl! I would certainly come back. We stayed in a pull thru #16 which was level.

    Taylor's Landing

    Terrible.

This is the most unprofessional place I have ever been. We came here due to my partner‘s father being reported missing as he resided at this campground. The owner Roxanne Taylor, and her boyfriend Chandler threatened to bash my head in off of a tree after busting a window trying to break into his camper before we arrived to steal HIS possessions. I highly recommend that you guys stay as far away from this place as humanly possible, as she is a very unstable person and not a professional business owner at all. We did report to the police and proper steps will be taken, but I just wanna give you guys the warning so this same thing does not Happen to you. There are plenty of other campgrounds in the area and they have way more occupants and her actions as a business owner show why. I have attached a picture of the camper window that Roxanne’s boyfriend Chandler broke open.

What to do

River access for paddling: Colleton State Park Campground serves as an excellent launch point for kayaking on the Edisto River. "There is access so you can float down the river on Kayaks or floats. Family hiking: Take advantage of the nature trails that connect camping areas. A visitor to Colleton State Park mentioned, "Trail leading off the campgrounds through the woods is very fun, saw a corn snake and found a geocache."

Fishing opportunities: The waterways around Ehrhardt support various fishing options. A regular visitor to Santee State Park shared their experience: "We really enjoyed this park! There was boat access, a playground, nature trails and everyone was so friendly!"

Tips from RVers

Site leveling challenges: Many campgrounds feature uneven terrain. A camper at Barnwell State Park reported, "Site 16 was awful to get into. Two trees are only about 10 feet apart and once you clear those you have to jackknife and nearly scrape your tow vehicle on a tree."

Spacing between sites: Site proximity varies considerably between parks. At Point South KOA, a visitor observed, "I wish the RV sites had more privacy. There was none. It reminded me of an RV park, not a campground."

Utility connections: Full hookup availability differs across campgrounds. "30 foot trailer backed in no issues with plenty of room to pull truck in beside rig. They have some full hookup sites which is what I got," reported a camper at Givhans Ferry State Park.
