Best RV Parks & Resorts near Wilderville, OR

Several RV parks cluster around the Grants Pass area, just minutes from Wilderville, Oregon. Riverpark RV Resort offers year-round full hookup sites with 50-amp service and river views, accommodating large motorhomes with pull-through options. Sunny Valley Campground, open March through October, features 51 sites with 30/50-amp electrical service, water, and sewer connections for big rigs. Bridgeview RV Park provides year-round access with full hookups and 50-amp service along the Rogue River Highway. Southern Oregon RV Park in Central Point offers concrete pads with full hookups in a well-maintained setting. "The sites are level with picnic tables and fire pits. There are bathrooms, free hot showers, laundry, dog run, playground and store," noted one RV camper about the regional facilities.

Seasonal considerations affect availability at many RV campgrounds near Wilderville. Summer months see higher occupancy rates, particularly at riverside locations where fishing access is prized. Most parks maintain sanitary dump stations, though some charge additional fees for non-guests. Cell service varies throughout the region, with stronger signals in Grants Pass and weaker coverage in more remote locations. Pet policies generally allow leashed dogs, with designated pet areas at larger RV resorts. Propane is available at select parks, typically priced around $3.50 per gallon based on traveler reports. Navigation to some RV sites requires attention to directions, as GPS systems occasionally direct motorhomes to incorrect entrances not suitable for large vehicles. Winter travelers benefit from the multiple year-round RV parks that remain open with full services.

    Joseph H. Stewart County Park

    Great State Park

We chose an RV hookup site for our 40' coach with tow vehicle. 30 amp power but based on forecasted cold weather they had turned off the water at the sites. Potable water was available at the dump station. Free warm showers and flush toilets. However, the bathrooms are old and appear dirty and grimy (rust stains, chipped paint, etc). Great walking and bath paths at the park and close enough to visit Crater Lake National Park. Large trees within the park though it doesn't provide much privacy with camp neighbors. In late October they had reduced the open loops but there was a good mix of tent and RV campers.

    Ireland's Ocean RV Park

Really nice park for a short stay

Literally 100 feet from the beach, this tiny campground offers full hookups, 50 amp for 4 sites (the rest are 30 amp), a conveniently located, clean and tidy bathrooms with showers, a laundry and well-cared-for sites. Our 40-foot rig fit nicely into a pull-through and though our 20-foot truck would have fit fine diagonally, they have a free overflow parking area mere feet away. I don't know if it's the case year-round but they are set up to allow you to look at all of the available sites and pick the one you like. That was fun! Great to discover there was a 50-amp available AND it was a pull-through! Super convenient, great vibe here. Highly recommended for anyone that loves strolling on the endless beach and combing for rocks and shells. Terrific. Also walkable to Gold Beach. If you want to do any hiking, pop in your car and there are many options near by!

You will need to be aware that this is an old park. Things are rusting and need to be replaced, but it's a super place to stay. They could put about $20k into the place to make it up to snuff but no complaints here, it's so peaceful and tucked away!

Ashland's Creekside Campground & RV Park

    Undergoing Improvements

At highway 66 near Ashland this park has both RV and tent sites. The RV sites are full/partial hook up (30 amp only) and dry camping. Note though that even if you pay for partial or dry you will still need to pay $10/dump your tanks. We opted for just full hook ups here. The tent sites are near the creek.

There was some work being done that appear to be some upgrades. There is a nice pool area, a pond and the creek. The sites are level with picnic tables and fire pits. There are bathrooms, free hot showers, laundry, dog run, playground and store. Also available is propane ($3.50/gallon) book exchange and ice. Wifi was fast and free.

The road noise is noticeable but not too bad. Some of the spots can be close but for a night it wasn't bad. Pets are allowed on leash only but there were a couple of loose dogs running around so be aware.

NOTE: Google tells you to turn on the street (Neil Creek Rd) just after the park so if you have a big rig then turning around could be difficult. Keep an eye out for the campground and turn into it directly from the main road instead.

All the office and maintenance staff were friendly and helpful and neighbors were friendly and quiet.  We didn't get the tweaker vibe mentioned in some previous reviews. This place is cute - maybe there are new owners (who changed the name from Glenyan to Ashland Creekside, maybe?) who are trying to turn things around.

Good cell service ATT, Verizon and TMobile.

    Driftwood RV Park

Basic Cramped RV Park, a Block From Ocean

We didn't stay here, but we checked it out while staying at Beachfront RV across the street.

All sites are full hookup, with 30 and 50 amp power, cable, and wifi.

There is laundry and free showers on site.  $49/night with monthly and long term rates available.  Your RV must be 10 years or newer, or you can send them a photo if you have a vintage or older RV.

The park is located in the busy port area, with cars driving by, people coming and going to the day use area to go fishing and hang out at the beach, the coast guard station across the street, as well as several restaurants and gift shops in easy walking distance.

Cell reception is good in this area for all 3 carriers.

    Turtle Rock RV Resort

Great for long or short term stay

I stayed here over the winter. The staff is great. They have a monthly rate in the winter months. They have tiny homes for rent, propane, laundry, a little store, and sites with hot tubs. The sites all have nice grassy patches, a picnic table, and a fire pit. There is a path to the beach/ocean. It’s a couple of minutes walk from any site there. Ranging from 2 to 5 minutes depending on how far your site is from the path. Everyone is pretty relaxed. Just a few people are permanent residents and I was one of the longest stays for the winter. It’s generally pretty quiet. They have a dog park. It’s a great place. I’d highly recommend it.

    Indian Creek RV Park

Good for a stop over to do the Mailboat trip but not a destination

Staff is friendly, restrooms and park clean. Mostly long term and seasonal campers for fishing using almost all pull throughs. Spots left over are weirdly arranged. Generally quiet at night, but noisy with residents talking loud (quiet colorfully) and many dogs barking during the day. Overall the stay was fine but there are better choices in the area.

Emigrant Lake Recreation Area - Oak Slope Campground

We drove through and chose not to stay

This portion of the camping area is called Oak Slope, the other being on the lake for RVs for residents displaced by fires.

For Oak Slope:   Imagine a steep tiered parking lot with narrow spaces. The whole campground is on a hill so the higher sites just look down on the lower sites. Most sites are visible from any other site. The sites were not very level and they were narrow, as was the loop. The campground also backs to private property. All sites are dirt with paved parking, with picnic tables and fire pits. Some pull throughs.

There were bathrooms, one of which someone decided to dump a washer and dryer at. There weren’t too many campers when we went but I can imagine that on a weekend it would be awful. It is close to the lake which has bathrooms and playground.

We did not stay here. We picked a spot but then changed our minds and then left. There is an RV dump here. Cell reception with ATT, Verizon and TMobile.

    Beachfront RV Park

    Quaint

Pretty location close to town, beach goes on for miles in either direction and campsites are located practically on the sand. The downside is the beach is usually busy and not much can be found unless you’re an early riser. Beach is pet friendly and rv is usually the best accommodations here.

Ashland's Creekside Campground & RV Park

Great price, good vibe, loud road, bad showers

Good points: I think this is the cheapest campground with amenities near Ashland, only $27.50/night for a tent site with a water pump. The place didn't feel sketchy at all- although there are clearly some long term residents, it feels well-run and family friendly. Wifi was surprisingly fast and reached all the way over to the tent sites, and there is a place near the bathrooms to wash dishes. All tent sites were shady with large blackberry bushes providing privacy on three sides.

The not-so-good: the tent sites have a road right behind them that's often busy and loud. The showers in the women's restroom have unbelievably poor water pressure, and the water temp fluctuated from boiling to freezing for no reason unless you twitched the dial just right. Also, there's no place to hang a hammock near the tent sites but that's just a quibble.

Guide to Wilderville

Most campgrounds in this region sit at elevations between 900-1,200 feet, creating moderate temperature fluctuations between day and night. Winter travelers should note that while several RV parks remain open year-round, nighttime temperatures regularly drop below freezing from November through March.

What to do

Fishing access points: At Riverpark RV Resort, sites directly on the Rogue River provide immediate water access. Golf at Applegate: The Applegate River Golf & RV Resort combines camping with golfing just 20 minutes from Wilderville. The 24-site facility includes water and electric hookups with a sanitary dump station on premises. Located along the Applegate River, this facility offers a quieter alternative to Grants Pass camping.

Wildlife viewing: Birdwatchers can spot wild turkeys at Indian Creek RV Park in Gold Beach. "Love the 5 wild turkeys that greeted me as I opened the door in the morning," reports one visitor who appreciated this unexpected wildlife encounter during their stay.

What campers like

River proximity: Laughing Alpaca Campground + RV Park features riverfront sites with water activities. "Our site had a view of the water. Owner is super friendly and chill. Gave us a site backed-in to the river. Our kids enjoyed the river and used the park's kayaks and paddle boards (for free!)," reports one family who appreciated the water recreation options.

Clean facilities: Campers consistently mention bathroom cleanliness at Southern Oregon RV Park. "Bathrooms are very clean as well. I will definitely stay here again as we pass through," notes one reviewer. Another visitor observed: "Restrooms, free hot showers, laundry facilities are available via a 4-digit code."

Outdoor recreation areas: Sunny Valley Campground offers family-friendly amenities. "Safe, family campground with a nice shop, pool, restroom. You can rent a cabin, wagons, or a campground. There's also a dog park, which my dog loved!" writes one reviewer who appreciated the variety of accommodations and pet-friendly features.

What you should know

Weather variability: Southern Oregon coastal areas experience significant fog patterns, particularly during summer months. "Very foggy - however, when it does clear up; you get the most beautiful view of the ocean," reports one visitor at Beachfront RV Park.

Highway noise considerations: Several Wilderville-area RV parks sit near major highways, causing noise issues for light sleepers. "Right off I-5 and next to the Jackson County Expo. Sites are level with grass and fire pits," notes one camper, while another mentions: "Traffic noise in park is intense."

Reservation timing: Summer months typically require 2-4 week advance reservations for weekend stays. "We called hoping for availability and got lucky with their last one. Dani was super helpful over the phone and made booking seamless," writes one last-minute visitor who secured a rare opening.

Tips for camping with families

"Entirely fenced for security although people are getting in at front entrance. Very nice hosts. Facilities are top notch," notes one camper about safety features at a nearby park.

Tips from RVers

Site selection considerations: Review site maps carefully before booking at Wilderville-area RV parks. "Would recommend not taking the last spot (#153) because it's right along the parking lot where fishers park for the day, there's lots of activity," advises one experienced RVer about positioning within campgrounds.

Dump station availability: Not all parks offer on-site dump stations. "Have your tanks empty and fresh water full. Not available to purchase if you are dry camping. Dump station just outside of town at the rest area," reports one RVer from Beachfront RV Park, highlighting the need for advance planning.

Level site options: Seven Feathers RV Resort provides concrete pads suitable for larger rigs. "Paved, level and well maintained. We have a 96 Kit Companion and it was by far one of the oldest in the entire place," notes one RVer describing the high-end facilities.
