Best Cabin Camping near Sutherlin, OR

General: Located just across the street from the North Umpqua River, there is a mix of:•

Site Quality: We were in a deluxe RV site that had a level gravel camper pad, electric hookup, fire ring, and picnic table. Unlike most RV parks, there was a decent amount of foliage between most sites to provide a measure of privacy. 

Bath/Shower House: Two toilets, two sinks, and two showers. Clean but limited privacy for the toilets with just a curtain. Bench and hooks are outside of showers with no other separation so there is a lack of privacy there as well (did not use the shower so I cannot comment on how well it worked, although they looked nice).

* Wi-Fi is available for $2.99 per 24-hour period per device but it was flaky at best

* There is a store with ice, firewood, food, beer, and wine, apparel, propane, diesel, and gasoline, rafts, and sleds. 

We arrived later than planned (just before dark) and it was cold and rainy the next day so we were not able to take advantage of the many nearby recreation activities but the staff recommended a nearby waterfall hike that we could do in inclement weather. We would definitely consider returning during better weather.

Very well maintained, leashed dog friendly, camp grounds right on bay with 360° views. Air streams & small cabins have everything you need for a getaway including wood for the fire pit. Convenience stores close by plus the resort has a general store with anything you could need. Site staff very friendly while keeping a distance, giving you just the right amount of privacy. Easy check in & check out through the front office. Arrive after office closes? No problem! They'll make sure you easily check in after hours. Will be making a return trip ASAP

This is the cleanest, most well-maintained KOA I have ever Camped in. It’s family and pet friendly with a well-maintained playground area for the kids and an enclosed dog park for the pets. If that’s not enough consider this: it has a dedicated ATV riding area for the Littles - no big kids/no big ATVs - and is a perfect spot to teach young kids how to ride. This campground has full hook ups and Wi-Fi that actually works! The camp Staff & employees are extremely friendly and helpful. It boosts a small general store on site as well as being located right next-door to an ATV rental shop. The ATV rental shop also has parts, accessories and fuel! Did I mention that it has great access to all the wonderful dunes? If you are an ATV/UTV enthusiast this KOA is for you.

The website was not kidding about not following the directions through Google Maps. The last 9 miles to the resort was really trying - the roads were narrow, twisty and winding. If you are probe to car-sickness, go slow. I took extra precaution and dabbed essential oils on myself and my children.

Our pull-through site was in the Upper Marina, #22. If you have an extra canopy for camping, I'd suggest you bring it. It got really HOT when we were there. The good news is once the sun sets behind the trees, around 6pm, it makes eating dinner at the picnic table so comfortable and cooling.

My husband and children perused the bathroom/shower facilities which was just across from our campsite. He said it was spacious - a shower + private bathroom + sink setup and wide enough for a family.

Access to the swimming beach/boat launch is just a short 3 minutes walk. You just have to exercise caution because you will be crossing a main road (cars and big logging trucks rumble along often enough during the week).

The swimming (sandy) beach is cosy (read: tiny). There are no lifeguards on duty but enough trees offering shade for parents/families to sit back and keep watch.

You would have to drive back 5 minutes down the road to visit the Lodge for supplies or ice. The Lodge also provides some light refreshments* (deli sandwiches and ice-cream).

Our site offered full hook-ups including cable (limited channels). WIFI* was a disappointment though - we had to create an account for a complimentary hour of WIFI usage every day. Together with the zero cell reception, it renders us completely off the grid. It's great really to totally relax your mind and body but it is worrisome for that what-if's scenarios.

*Ice-cream was very pricey for the single not-generous scoop in a plastic cup that we bought for each of us. Because of the steep prices and WIFI availability (you have to pay if you want to get connected), I could only give a rating of 3.5/5 stars.

Otherwise, we had a great time at the RV resort. The sites are appealing for huge family reunion (we witnessed such a reunion during our trip). We will be back! 😊

We are a family of 4 (2 young boys with no pets). We traveled with a travel trailer.

For a small campground the deluxe yurts were huge. Much larger than the rustic yurts available in other Oregon State parks, the deluxe yurt had acres of space. The kitchen had an almost full sized fridge, a microwave, and a sink. The shower in the bathroom was not as nice as in the deluxe cabins elsewhere, but there was plenty of towel bars to dry all of your gear on. The small heater had a hard time heating all of the space. The large skylight had lovely star viewing when the clouds cleared. Since it was the middle of the week in February there was no noise from the surrounding ATV area, indeed, no ATVs around at all. The trail around tiny Lake Marie was well drained and not soggy, with several connections to the campground. Our yurt had views of the other yurts, try 19 for a view of the lake yet still dog friendly. The front porch did not offer any shelter from the rain.

We visited this campground for the second time this past weekend and even in late October it is a fantastic location to go on the coast!

It has tent sites, RV pads cabins and is one of the few locations where delux yurts can be rented.

W stayed in a cabin last time, but that loop is closed for construction until 2019.

This time it was the delux yurt, which sleeps up to 9 people, has it's own bathroom with toilet, sink and shower, microwave, fridge, kitchen sink,TV, DVD player and heater that will cook you out if you want it to. Outside comes with a porch, picnic bench and 4 burner gas grill. Fantastic for group rental! We had 5 adults and it was a ton of space!

The yurts are just up the hill from the lake where you can go fishing and hike the approximately 1 mile long trail.

There is also a day use area with benches and a small sandy beach.

Lover this place!

For us, Umpqua’s Last Resort was, well, a last resort! This was all about location for us. Close to the North Umpqua? Check. Camping Cabin? Check. Available? Check. Expensive? Nope. It worked, but there is nothing fancy about this place. It is fairly small, was definitely quiet, had lots of blackberries ready to pluck, and has a little store down the road where we were able to get what we needed. The cabin was fine, but the shower house had seen better days. Trails and creeks were accessible from the property and it is in the neighborhood for a great day rafting, fun swimmin’ holes and Crater Lake National Park. In 2015, cell reception was spotty.
