What campers like
Natural swimming areas: The South Santiam River creates popular swimming spots during summer months. "Great for any kind of camper or non-camper. Tents, RVs, cabins, the lodge, they have it all. Staff is friendly and the hot spring pools are wonderful," says a visitor to Belknap Hot Springs.

What you should know
Seasonal water levels: Detroit Lake experiences significant water level changes throughout the year. "The Detroit Lake campsite is really nice because it is right on the water, with an incredible view of Mt. Jefferson on a clear day. It is worth noting that the water level here fluctuates quite a bit, and if you visit in late summer or early fall, the lake level is usually so low that it is not really as scenic," advises a camper.
Road noise: Albany-Corvallis KOA cabins can experience traffic noise. "A bit of highway noise, but nice big pull through sites, tent sites along the back (really good), a nice small store and friendly staff," notes a visitor.
Reservation requirements: Cabin demand requires advance booking, especially during summer months. "This is one of the nicest and cleanest parks we've stayed at in a long time. Sites are cleaned between guests. Sites are level and well thought out to maximize privacy," reports a River Bend County Park visitor.
Tips for camping with families
Kid-friendly water options: Carsner Tree Farm provides communal amenities with a family atmosphere. "The location was perfect for us, since we planned some hikes around the area. We happened to be the only ones in the campground the night we stayed so we had free rein of the barn area and it was lovely," shares a satisfied camper.
Group facilities: Longbow Organization Group Camp accommodates larger family gatherings with multiple cabins. "Great spot for a family reunion or other group campout. This campground is full of history and beauty as it is situated right on the banks of the South Santiam River in the Willamette National Forest only 1 hour East of I-5 in Oregon," explains a visitor to Longbow Organization Group Camp.
Recreational variety: The Willamettans offers diverse activities for families beyond standard camping. "This camp offers so much more! They have one of the cleanest swimming areas around! While there are trails in the resort, the really good longer ones are on forest service land. You can walk from the resort, do a nice hike of up to six miles and return without any issues," describes a regular visitor.
