    Columbia River RV Park

Basic Nice RV Park Right in Portland

Located at the northern end of Portland not too far off the 1-5 freeway. RV campground with wide streets, nice office staff, and clean facilities including laundry, clubhouse, group kitchen area and free wi-fi. Grass in-between most spots, with some back-in sites and others being pull-through. Backs up to a busy road blocked by large bushes and under the pathway for the airport, so there's some noise but not horrible. Some full-times but sites are nice and well maintained. Overall nice, clean and well maintained large RV site within the Portland city limits.

    Premier RV Resort

    Nice CG, but small sites

We are full-timers in a 36 ft Class A with a Cherokee Trailhawk tow. We were in site 57 for 4 days in mid September. Very friendly staff. The CG is clean, quiet and well maintained, but the sites are fairly short and narrow. As others have mentioned, tow vehicles usually extend into or are parked partially on the roads through the CG, but the roads are fairly wide throughout the CG. Also, our slides extended well past the concrete pad on both sides, leaving very little room to get around our RV. The sewer connections are not threaded, so you’ll have to weigh down your sewer hose. There is a fair bit of road noise from the highway. There is a nice open area, off leash pen and network of short trails for walking your dog. AT&T coverage was fair, ranging from 2-4 bars of 5G with speeds up to 19 MB/s. The CG WiFi speed varied considerably, from next to useless up to 1 MB/s. We were able to get DISH coverage on all three western satellites at our site. There were 11 OTA channels to be had with our fixed omni antenna.

Reeder Beach RV Park & Country Store

    1 Night Stopover

I was worried when Google maps brought me through the industrial section of Portland, but relieved when I crossed the bridge to the Island. Check in was fast and efficient. Can't say the staff was friendly or welcoming, Full hookups, but I don't rate it higher because there is no wifi or laundry facilities. There is also nothing around here store or restaurant wise. I enjoyed the beach and watching the ships pass by. I had good cell service. Riverside back in sites are the best. Pull through provide shade

Silver Spur RV Park & Resort

    Not terrible.

I ended up here last minute due to weather on the Oregon coast. I’m in a 40’ coach. It’s a very well kept RV park, a lot of long term residents were here. The office is very nice, the lawns are very nice, the office parking lot is asphalt. Has a nice little children’s play area. There are very bumpy gravel driveways to the RV parking spots (possibly just the time of year causing the poor road condition). The RV spaces are very easy to get into being angled. We stayed in a pull through space, easy in and easy out. Only giving a 4star rating for the very small RV spaces. Was very crammed for anything more than a last minute stay.

    Bayport RV Park and Campground

Normally not a four star RV park but considering the price...

Came here so I can kayak and calm waters. The slabs are mostly level and each spot is large with a nice picnic table and fire pit but neighbors are fairly close and not much privacy. Showers are quarter timed showers and I've seen much better and cleaner. They do have waste of disposal for a fee but they offer drinking water and full Electric and water but no sewage hookup you pay at the dump station. However it's very close to town which is very convenient and has great access to the water as compared to many other places where you have to drive à ways.

    Blue Ox RV Park

Disneyland is not the happiest place on earth

This is the happiest place on RV Earth! What a beautiful park! Amazing trees of every kind and flowers and bushes all cared for meticulously. Great wi-fi. Management is exceptional! Indoor pool, multiple laundry rooms, rec room - all spotlessly clean. Close easy access to freeway but minimal noise. Full hookups of course, Wi-Fi is strong and fast, 48 channels of sharp cable TV picture. We are putting this on our A list and will return whenever we're passing through this area again. Two bars of 5G Verizon. Beautiful city soccer fields and park just outside the entrance to the park. Great place to walk and relax. Recommend.

    Whitcomb Creek County Park

Camping on a peninsula in the mist of Green Peter

Your in the woods at this location, bring your boats/canoe/kayak the reservoir is huge to explore.

The campground is only open in the summer and as of 2018 has some wonderful updates on Loop “A” and Loop “C” (new tables, and site pads, and fire rings). Loop “B” is still rustic and not a bad site to sit. There are a few Double site can hold two campers. There is not water or electricity, bring it in and pack it out. Can accommodate big rigs, or small tents. There are four pull through sites. Best to RSVP through ww.linnparks.com on popular weekends or take your change for any open sites, if no sites available head up Quartzville past mile marker 17 and park along the road for free, only where there are metal fire rings.

    Humbug Campground

    Love it here

Humbug is one of our favorite campgrounds. We love the easy access to the beach and the beautiful hikes.  Showers are hot and free, rangers are always friendly.

Cell service is pretty iffy here, but we manage to make it work with the cell booster.

There's a dump station and water fill, trash and recycling, water spigots throughout campground, and firewood for sale.

Tent sites in Oregon don't currently have the 25% non-resident surcharge (though I've heard that's changing soon) and there are plenty of non-hookup/tent sites that will fit RVs. There are also FHU and pull through sites.

    Sun Outdoors Portland South

    Glamping

This was my first experience at an RV Resort. It is located right of the interstate but feels secluded. They have both back in and pull through sites, a little tight with neighbors but I was told it is better than other RV resorts. Beautiful landscaping, indoor pool and hot tub, small market, laundry facilities, horseshoe pits on beautiful grassy area. Yes to dogs and cats and no breed restrictions! They have a nice grassy area with poop bags! Bummer no fires 🙁 If fire pits I’d give the 5th star! Also, within 15-20 mins there are amazing countryside, wine tasting, hiking/walking, Willamette River with off leash areas for dogs, and downtown Portland. Additionally there is an off leash park 8 mins away. Overall a good experience, we enjoyed our stay. My photos don’t show much of the place but their website’s photos represent well.

Guide to Colton

RV sites near Colton, Oregon cater to various camping needs with electric, water, and sewer hookups throughout the region. The area sits at approximately 600-1000 feet elevation with seasonal weather patterns that include rainy winters and warm, dry summers from June through September. Many parks offer year-round accessibility with paved sites accommodating larger recreational vehicles.

What to do

Fishing access points: Silver Spur RV Park & Resort in Silverton provides convenient access to nearby fishing spots. "We stayed in their only cabin. The state park was full and we were in a tent (this place has no tent sites). The price was awesome! The cabin was great!" notes Carrie A., highlighting alternative accommodation options when RV sites are full.

Mountain biking trails: Mt Hood Village Resort offers proximity to exceptional mountain biking opportunities. Joel H. explains, "Right across Hwy 26 is some of the best Mountain Biking in the country at the Sandy Ridge Trail System. Using this RV park as a jumping off point, there are endless hiking trails and lakes to paddle and explore in the Mt Hood wilderness."

Riverfront recreation: Explore the Sandy River at Sandy Riverfront RV Resort in Troutdale. "The park itself is okay. Some weekly/monthly spots as well as overnighters. The grounds and spots are good enough and not gross/scary, but you really come here for the location," shares Corinna B. The resort sits directly on the river with swimming access and adjacent to Glenn Otto Park.

What campers like

Indoor facilities: Columbia River RV Park offers comfort amenities for extended stays. "The park has two off-leash dog areas, two shower facilities, a community kitchen, a rec room that you can use for gatherings, a free table for giving away things that you don't need or taking things you want, a laundry facility, and a workout room," writes C H.

Swimming options: Portland-Woodburn RV Park features a pool and community activities. "We have been staying here full time since October 2021... On-site office, laundry, pool, full baths. There are several specials during the month to include meals for a very inexpensive price as well as ice cream socials in nicer months," says Laurie.

Natural surroundings: Mt Hood Village Resort offers sites nestled among mature trees. Jack B. explains, "The full hook up sites are in old growth timber giving each site a feeling of seclusion. The lodge, pool, hot tub and saunas are in good condition. The campground provides easy access to a number of nearby activities."

What you should know

Campsite spacing: Sites at many RV parks near Colton can be tight. At Silver Spur RV Park & Resort, Josh H. notes, "The only reason I say 4 stars is the sites are a little small. Very little space between other campers."

Noise considerations: Some parks have ambient noise from transportation. At Clackamette RV Park in Oregon City, Laura M. explains, "This is one of those interesting RV parks/campgrounds that's attached to a city park and to boat ramps/fishing, so you have a lot of day use activity going on, which can be nice or not, depending on what you're looking for."

Water quality: Water access varies between facilities. One reviewer at Sandy Riverfront RV Resort mentions, "We struggled a bit connecting to the free WiFi. I'm not sure why they don't just have a network with a password."

Tips for camping with families

Playground amenities: RV sites with child-friendly features provide entertainment options. Mt Hood Village Resort offers "a playground, swimming pool, small store, cafe, bathrooms with showers (and warm water) and activities during the day for kids," according to Tyson C.

Recreation options: Jantzen Beach RV Park provides multiple swimming facilities. "My kiddos absolutely loved the three pools, playground, and basketball hoops. Plenty to check out and explore for them even if this was not your typical 'campground' experience," shares Corinna B.

Nearby attractions: Parks in the Mt. Hood region offer accessible nature activities. Jessica S. from Mt Hood Village Resort mentions, "5 min from the ranger station with tons of easy trails around," making spontaneous outdoor adventures simple with children.

Tips from RVers

Site selection: For larger rigs, scout specific parks with ample space. At Portland-Woodburn RV Park, one RVer cautions, "Very cramped, I'll need to disconnect the toad and perform multiple back and forths to exit."

Hookup variations: RV sites near Colton vary in electrical capacity. At Columbia River RV Park, reviewers note the specific amenities: "Free Wi-Fi, cable, trash service, and water," which makes budget planning straightforward for travelers.

Seasonal considerations: Winter camping requires preparation in higher elevation areas. At Mt Hood Village Resort, Joel H. suggests, "The main attraction of this place is the nearby recreation," noting that the location compensates for any limitations in RV site amenities.
