Best Cabin Camping near Blodgett, OR

Cabins near Blodgett, Oregon range from rustic accommodations to more comfortable options with modern amenities. Silver Falls State Park offers cabin rentals with electricity and heat, providing a cozy retreat after hiking the Trail of Ten Falls. South Beach State Park and Beverly Beach State Park both feature yurts and cabins with varying levels of furnishings. "The cabin was very clean and well kept. The cabin was nearby a few other similar cabins, but everything felt very private," noted one visitor about their stay at Silver Falls' Smith Creek Village cabins. Thousand Trails Whalers Rest provides basic cabin accommodations with bunk beds and queen-sized sleeping arrangements.

Rustic and deluxe cabins are both available, depending on the location. Most cabins require advance reservations, especially during peak summer months when coastal and forest locations fill quickly. Albany-Corvallis KOA maintains cabin options year-round with pet-friendly policies at select sites. Salmonberry County Park Campground offers cabins from May through November. According to a camper at Silver Falls, "We stayed in a rustic cabin at this park and it was perfect. Two full beds and two small bunks make for an affordable spot for friends to gather." Some locations like Leaping Lamb Farm feature standalone cabin rentals rather than campground-style accommodations.

Most cabins include beds but require visitors to bring their own linens, towels, and toiletries. Basic cabins typically have electricity but limited kitchen facilities beyond a fire pit or grill area outside. "The cabin had electric heat, a TV, dorm fridge, microwave, porch swing, outdoor water, BBQ grill, picnic table and outdoor firepit," one visitor reported about their coastal cabin experience. More developed options might include mini-refrigerators, microwaves, and small dining areas. On-site camp stores at locations like Albany-Corvallis KOA and Waldport KOA stock essential supplies, though most cabin campers should arrive prepared with food and personal items.

Cape Kiwanda RV Resort and Marketplace

    Cute cabin!

We headed to the Pacific City in search of fresh air in mid September when much of Oregon was consumed by wildfire smoke. The friendly staff at Cape Kiwanda RV Resort were very welcoming and we opted to stay in one of their cute cabins as rain was forecasted. Cabin N was comfortable and had electric heat, a TV, dorm fridge, microwave, porch swing, outdoor water, BBQ grill, picnic table and outdoor firepit.  The campground had cute wild bunnies hoping around, and amenities such as a playground, full market, and pool.  It's located a quick walk from a beautiful sandy beach, brew pub, coffee shop and other convenient options are nearby.

Smith Creek Village — Silver Falls State Park

    Very nice cabin getaway

Smith Creek Village is such a great place for easy lodging in nature. My family stayed in one of the tiny cabins. The cabin was very clean and well kept. The cabin was nearby a few other similar cabins, but everything felt very private. There was nice walking paths and a large grass area supplied with lawn games.

We decided to take the easy route this particular trip and ate all our meals at the Big Leaf Coffeehouse. The food there is fantastic and the building has a cozy lodge vibe.

Another thing that I loved about Smith Creek Village is that although the Silver Falls state park is always busy, Smith Creek Village is not. It feels like a hidden gem inside the state park. We definitely plan on coming back.

    Thousand Trails Pacific City

Best camping on the Oregon Coast

Lots of options here. Tent sites and small cabins that are somewhat private. There are good bathrooms with showers on site, a sand volleyball court, a store, little wild bunnies running around, and great fire pits at each site. What more could you ask for!? The ocean is a 5 minute walk from the site and you can rent sandboards to ride down the dunes of Cape Kiwanda (it's a serious workout!). Not to be missed.

Smith Creek Village — Silver Falls State Park

    Cozy cabins, close to falls.

We stayed in a rustic cabin at this park and it was perfect. Two full beds and two small bunks make for an affordable spot for friends to gather. Book in advance because it fills up fast. The cabins are basic, but do have electricity. The bathrooms are clean and well maintained. The tent sites were pretty close to each other and there were a lot of kids. Walked to the waterfalls from the cabin in the early am, amazing!

Smith Creek Village — Silver Falls State Park

    Beautiful location-great hiking nearby!

This campground is one I wanted to visit for the chance to check out the hiking trail nearby that has tons of waterfalls along it (Ten Falls Trail). I wasn't sure I would be able to hike very far and I was right. I hiked down into the canyon to walk behind South Falls. It was spectacular! I’m glad I hiked that particular trial since I only had enough energy for that one. It was quite steep down into the canyon and wet in most areas. Watch your step! The full trail is 8.2 miles. They had a nice place to buy snacks and meals, a gift shop, and had nice printed trail information posted at the trailhead. The campground itself isn’t huge and was fully booked, but it is decently laid out (sites have nice space between them). Most sites are shaded. They sell firewood, have a pavilion with picnic tables, a playground for the kids, and have a few small cabins you can rent by the night. The campground is kind of close to a somewhat busy road, but the noise wasn’t too bad. The bathhouse was clean and approximately 100 yards from my campsite down a footpath. The only thing I was disappointed to see was that two of the 4 showers were out of order. I had fantastic cell service here (AT&T) and was able to text, call, and go online on my phone (which is nice since I work online). Given the fact that I was unable to physically do more hiking this trip, I would definitely come back to this campground to try another section of the trail to see more waterfalls since the trailhead is only 1.5 miles from the campground.

Smith Creek Village — Silver Falls State Park

    Lovely

Went with an ex many years ago. We stayed in one of the small cabins very close to the upper trail to the falls.I think... lol

The cabin was cozy and stayed very warm as we went in the winter. We only walked around a short ways but the snow was beautiful and it was serenely quiet.

    River Bend County Park

Nice, well maintained, on the river!

We had a great time staying at River Bend! This was our first trip here and won’t be our last, we’ve already made reservations for next year.

The sites were maintained very well and the camp hosts were very friendly. In addition to the paved driveway for our trailer, there always a nice, large concrete pad for the picnic table with a fire pit built on to the corner. The neighboring site on the right was 20-30 yards away and the site on the left was 100+ yards away. Lots of trees all around, good shade for those hot August days.

The bathrooms for the loop were a nice walk but not too far and they were cleaned 2x per day.

We spent most of our days at the river swimming, floating in tubes, skipping rocks and looking for crawdads. It was an easy walk on well maintained trails to get to the river.

The playground and adjacent field were fun for playing and games in the evenings.

Being a long, hot year there were no fires allowed in the fire pits. That was a small bummer, but the fire danger was so high that it wasn’t a big deal. We used our propane fire ring instead and that was great. Kind of nice coming away from a camping trip and not smelling of smoke 😁

    South Beach State Park Campground

Convenience, Rogue, Sand and Trees...also a campground.

The South Beach State Park Campground is at the mouth of the Yaquina Bay in Newport, Oregon. The first thing you'll notice is the wind on the way in. Generally, north to south in the summers, the wind is strong, always strong, like 30 mph or more pretty much all the times according to the locals. It felt like it was raining, but it was just water being blown off the ocean. However, once you're in the campground you don't notice it at all since it is well protected by surrounding dunes and tree line.

There is a Tim Burton-esque trail system surrounding the camp leading out in all directions to the beach and bay. Some trails are blacktopped, some sand, and some horse accessible. Google maps struggled to get me to the correct entrance so pay a little more attention when arriving.

My visit was during Oregon Parks day so camping was free. The Hiker/Biker area is just inside the camp entrance across from the hospitality yurt where you can get hot tea, coffee, ice cream, wood bundles, stickers and Oregon Parks merchandise. The camping (all of it) area itself is pretty open with minimal privacy or separation from your neighbors, but everything is very clean and organized.

The campground was packed, and the RV/Tent area was essentially a parking lot. It seemed like a lot of families to come to the same place, the same weekend every year. However, it was a well regulated, and well behaved campground. The nice thing about this campground is the location. There are hiking trails, beach access, and it is close to all the amenities of Newport. Once you left the camp on a trail you could wander the trees without seeing anyone for awhile if you needed to get away.

Hiker/biker area had faux fencing built up to separate sites and wood platforms to get tents off the ground which I haven't seen in any other hiker/biker camps. The fences were a bit weird but made it easy to lock up a bike, hang some laundry and would a good stop if I were traveling with a hammock.

    Amenities include:

    • Camp Store
    • Storage box with usb charging station
    • Raised wood platforms for tents
    • Flush toilets
    • Hot free showers
    • Access to beach & trails
    • Walking distance to Rogue Brewery, Yaquina Bay State Park, South Beach State Park,
    • Bike Stand and tools
    • Fire pit and picnic tables

Pro-Tip: In Newport, just across Yaquina Bay, is the Newport Bike Shop. It is one of the few bike repair shops along the coastal Oregon Route. If you get a $35 bike tune up you can take a break in their upstairs lounge with tv, wifi, fridge with beverages, and washer/dryer.

Guide to Blodgett

Cabin accommodations near Blodgett, Oregon provide year-round options for visitors within a 40-mile radius. The coastal region averages 40-80 inches of rainfall annually, with summer temperatures typically ranging from 50-70°F. Winter cabin rentals often include heating systems to counter the cooler temperatures and significant precipitation that characterize Oregon's Coast Range.

What to do

Beach exploration at Beverly Beach: Just a short walk from Beverly Beach State Park cabins puts you on miles of beach with unique geological features. "Fossils! Literally everywhere on this beach. Nearly every rock and cliff face is littered with marine fossils of varying types and sizes and you can often find individual fossilized shells that can be collected," notes Erik C. The beach is also known for "agate hunting along the gravel bars, particularly after big storms that uncover new stones."

Forest hiking at Silver Falls: The cabin accommodations at Silver Falls State Park provide an ideal base for exploring the park's extensive trail system. "Hiked for 5 hours! BEWARE: It's WET, so bring your wet weather gear, and good, sturdy hiking shoes for slippery terrain," advises Melissa L. from Silver Falls State Park Campground. The park features multiple waterfalls accessible via interconnected trails.

River activities near Salmonberry: The Alsea River provides recreation opportunities near the cabin rentals at Salmonberry County Park. "There are logging roads for hiking or biking and the river is great for a float," shares Jen H. While staying in one of the cabins at Salmonberry County Park Campground, visitors can also access "1.5 miles south is a recreation area with boat slide and killer swim/fishing/floating holes."

What campers like

Privacy between units: Many cabin rental areas offer natural separation between accommodations. At Thousand Trails Whalers Rest, Ella T. notes that "Most sites have trees or shrubs for privacy. We stayed on the south side with concrete pads that were nestled in between trees." Similarly at Waldport KOA, tent campers appreciated that "LOVED having bushes separate each tent site. Really enjoyed having privacy!"

Proximity to beaches: Most coastal cabin rentals provide convenient beach access. At Devil's Lake State Recreation Area, "you are in close proximity to the beach. If you reserve the right campsite, you'll also be just a stones throw from devils lake," explains Blake F. Similarly, Beachside State Recreation Site offers cabins where "Site 74 perfect for rooftop tent camping. Windbreak, no mosquitos, decently separated," with "a secret access to the beach that looks to be one of two away from the general access."

Family facilities: Cabin camping sites frequently include amenities geared toward families. At Beverly Beach State Park Campground, visitors appreciate that it's "Family Friendly (including dogs). It was nice flat ground and easy access to the beach through the campground," says Tiffany E. The park also offers "nice educational programs for kids" and "easy access to the nature trails."

What you should know

Seasonal limitations: Several cabin rental sites operate on restricted schedules. Beachside State Recreation Site is only open "March 15 to November 1," while Salmonberry County Park operates from "May 15 to November 1." This limits winter cabin camping options in certain locations.

Road noise factors: Some cabin sites experience highway noise due to their proximity to main roads. At Beachside State Recreation Site, "A lot of the sites are right near the road which can be a bit loud," notes Brittany B. Similarly, at Waldport KOA, some sites are "along highway so all night road noise like a Portland squatter."

Varying shower facilities: Bathroom and shower quality differs significantly between cabin locations. At Albany-Corvallis KOA, one camper noted "the only thing we don't like is the showers, they are dirty and there is absolutely no water pressure at all!!" Conversely, Silver Falls offers "Bathrooms and showers are super nice and clean," according to Richard H.

Tips for camping with families

Playground access: Several cabin camping areas feature dedicated play areas for children. At South Beach State Park Campground, Brian P. found it to be "a great campground and very kid friendly!!" while Silver Falls also offers a "Kids' play area inside Loop B" along with "nature trails around the campground."

Beach activities: Coastal cabins provide direct access to beach exploration opportunities. Beverly Beach is noted for its fossil hunting potential, where "you can often find individual fossilized shells that can be collected." At Devil's Lake, families appreciate that "you're close to the beach" and "the campground was super clean."

Educational programs: Some cabin locations offer structured learning activities. Beverly Beach provides "nice educational programs for kids," while Devil's Lake State Recreation Area Campground offers seasonal ranger programs during summer months. One visitor commented that it's "a great campground during the summer months."

Tips from RVers

Site selection considerations: RV cabins at certain parks offer dramatically different experiences based on location. At Waldport KOA, "The motorhome sites along the view of the bridge are very close together," while at South Beach, Patrick M. notes "shady sites on the outer edges of the loops. All the sites are relatively close together in lined-up, soldier style--still, not as regimented as a commercial RV park or resort."

Hookup availability: Most cabin sites with RV options provide electric and water connections. Albany-Corvallis KOA offers "big pull through sites" with full hookups, while South Beach has "water and electricity" with "a dump on site." The Albany-Corvallis KOA also provides "wifi that actually works. Enough bandwidth that I actually got connected."

Weather considerations: Seasonal conditions affect RV cabin camping experiences. At Devil's Lake, Blake F. advises, "If you plan on booking a trip in the late Fall/winter, be sure to call ahead of your trip. I've been here in the fall when more than half the campsites were flooded or filled with standing water." Similarly, coastal cabin sites often experience fog and significant rainfall during winter months.
