What campers like

Clean facilities: Well-maintained shower houses and bathrooms receive consistent praise. "The bathrooms were clean, separate showers verizon works well here," notes Joe I. about West Branch State Park, while another camper mentions "the amenities were clean as well as bathrooms and showers."
Spacious sites: Countryside Campground earns positive reviews for site configuration. "The 9 tent sites are very large and spacious. Showers were clean and spacious. Pool was closed since went before Memorial Day but it was a nice medium sized pool," shares Tommy K., who visited with family.
Community activities: Scheduled events enhance the camping experience at many locations. "We had a nice fire roasting s'mores the atmosphere is so clean and nice we had a easy check in and we got to enter a chili cook off the food and vibes was fun," explains Cassie V. about American Wilderness Campground.
What you should know
Water quality concerns: Some campgrounds have issues with water systems. "In 2023 I was in a section that was treated and my filters/softener did a acceptable job to make it work. This trip to see family in 2025 I was in a different section and by the second day it was unacceptable disgusting turbid rusty water with sulfur odor," warns Jerry L. about Woodside Lake Park.
Site levelness varies: Many campgrounds feature uneven terrain. "The lots are not even close the level. You will need a lot of blocks to get close to level. Saw one RV with auto levelers with his tire about foot off the ground," explains Coy about Punderson State Park.
